Acts 24
1 Now after five days the high priest Ananias went down with the elders and a certain orator, Tertullus, and they informed the governor against Paul.
೧ಐದು ದಿನಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಅನನೀಯನು, ಹಿರಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರನ್ನೂ ತೆರ್ತುಲ್ಯನೆಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ವಕೀಲನನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು, ಪೌಲನ ಮೇಲೆ ದೇಶಾಧಿಪತಿಗೆ ದೂರು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
2 So when he had been called in, Tertullus began his accusation, saying: “Seeing that by you we enjoy much peace, and your foresight has brought prosperity to this nation,
೨ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿದನಂತರ ತೆರ್ತುಲ್ಯನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ತಪ್ಪುಹೊರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ ಹೀಗಂದನು; “ಮಹಾ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನಾದ ಫೇಲಿಕ್ಸನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮೂಲಕವಾಗಿ ನಮಗೆ ಬಹು ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಉಂಟಾಗುವುದರಿಂದಲೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಂದಾಲೋಚನೆಯಿಂದ ಈ ದೇಶದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಧದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಸುಧಾರಣೆಗಳು ಆಗುವುದರಿಂದಲೂ
3 we recognize this, most noble Felix, with full gratitude, always and everywhere.
೩ನಾವು ಈ ಉಪಕಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯಿಂದ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ.
4 But so as not to detain you unduly, I would request that you be kind enough to hear us briefly.
೪ಆದರೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಬೇಸರಗೊಳಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದೆ ನಾವು ಸಂಕ್ಷಿಪ್ತವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುವ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ದಯೆಯಿಂದ ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.
5 We have found this man to be a plague, a creator of discord among all the Jews throughout the world, a ringleader of the Natsorean sect,
೫“ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನು ‘ಹಾನಿಕರವೂ ಲೋಕದ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಇರುವ, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಗೆಯನ್ನು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸುವವನೆಂತಲೂ, ನಜರೇನ ಎಂಬ ಪಂಥದ ನಾಯಕ ಎಂತಲೂ ಕಂಡೆವು.’
6 and he even tried to profane the temple; so we arrested him.
೬ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಇವನು, ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಲೆಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಮಾಡಿದನು; ಆದಕಾರಣ ಇವನನ್ನು ನಾವು ಹಿಡಿದೆವು.
೭(ಆದರೆ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಲೂಸ್ಯನು ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಬಂದು ಬಲವಂತಮಾಡಿ, ಅವನನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಿಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದನು.)
8 By examining him yourself you may ascertain all these things of which we accuse him.”
೮ಇವನನ್ನು ನೀನೇ ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದರೆ, ನಾವು ಇವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊರಿಸುವ ಈ ತಪ್ಪುಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿಜವೋ, ಸುಳ್ಳೋ ಎಂದು ಇವನಿಂದಲೇ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
9 And the Jews also joined in the attack, affirming that these things were so.
೯ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು ನಿಜವಾಗಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ತಾವೂ ಆ ದೋಷಾರೋಪಣೆ ಮಾಡುವವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡರು.
10 When the governor had nodded to him to speak, Paul answered: “Knowing, as I do, that you have been an equitable judge of this nation for many years, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself,
೧೦ದೇಶಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ಪೌಲನಿಗೆ; ನೀನು ಮಾತನಾಡಬಹುದೆಂದು ಸನ್ನೆಮಾಡಲು, ಅವನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ; “ನೀನು ಅನೇಕ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಈ ದೇಶದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತೀ, ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ನಾನು ಧೈರ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿವಾದ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
11 because you can ascertain that it is not more than twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship.
೧೧ನಾನು ದೇವಾರಾಧನೆಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ದಿನಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರವಾಗಿದೆಯೆಂದು ನೀನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.
12 They did not find me disputing with anyone or stirring up a crowd—not in the temple, not in the synagogues, not around the city.
೧೨ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ, ಸಭಾಮಂದಿರಗಳಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ, ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ನಾನು ಯಾರ ಸಂಗಡಲಾದರೂ ವಾದಿಸುವುದನ್ನು, ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಜನರ ಗುಂಪು ಕೂಡಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ಇವರು ನೋಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.
13 Nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.
೧೩ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಇವರು ಈಗ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆಹೊರಿಸುವ ತಪ್ಪುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಜವೆಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಲಾರರು.
14 But I do profess this to you, that according to the Way that they call a sect, that is how I worship the ancestral God, believing all things that stand written throughout the Law and the Prophets,
೧೪ಒಂದನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಅದೇನೆಂದರೆ; ಇವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಧರ್ಮವಿರೋಧಿ ಎಂದೂ ಹೇಳುವ, ಮಾರ್ಗಕ್ಕನುಸಾರವಾಗಿ ನಾನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಕ್ಕನುಗುಣವಾಗಿರುವ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಂಬುತ್ತೇನೆ.
15 having hope in God, which these themselves also look for, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both the just and unjust.
೧೫ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನೀತಿವಂತರಿಗೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅನೀತಿವಂತರಿಗೂ ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನವಾಗುವುದೆಂದು ಇವರು ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಿಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ನಾನೂ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
16 And this is why I apply myself to always have a clear conscience before both God and men.
೧೬ಇದರ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ, ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ನಿರ್ದೋಷವಾದ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿರಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಾನು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
17 Now after many years I came to bring alms and offerings to my nation,
೧೭“ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಾನು, ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವದೇಶದವರಿಗೆ ಧರ್ಮದ್ರವ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು, ತರುವುದಕ್ಕೂ, ಕಾಣಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಬಂದೆನು.
18 in the midst of which certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, with neither crowd nor confusion.
೧೮ನಾನು ಶುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡವನಾಗಿ, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ, ಇವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡರು; ಆಗ ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಜನರ ಗುಂಪೇನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಗದ್ದಲವೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಂಡವರು ಆಸ್ಯಸೀಮೆಯಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಕೆಲವು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೇ.
19 They are the ones that had to be here before you and make accusation, if they had anything against me.
೧೯ನನ್ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಏನಾದರೂ ಇದ್ದರೆ, ತಾವೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ತಪ್ಪುಹೊರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರಬೇಕಾಗಿತ್ತು.
20 Or let these themselves say what wrong they found in me, when I stood before the council,
೨೦ಇಲ್ಲವಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಹಿರೀಸಭೆಯ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದಾಗ, ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ತಪ್ಪುಗಳೇನಾದರೂ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದರೆ ಇವರೇ ಹೇಳಲಿ.
21 unless it be for this one statement that I called out, standing among them, ‘Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am being judged by you today.’”
೨೧ನಾನು ಇವರ ನಡುವೆ ನಿಂತು; ‘ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಈಹೊತ್ತು ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದ ನನಗೆ ವಿಚಾರಣೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳಬಹುದೇ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ಏನನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳಲಾರರು” ಅಂದನು.
22 Upon hearing these things Felix, having an accurate knowledge of the things concerning the Way, adjourned the proceedings and said, “When Lysias the commander comes down I will decide your case.”
೨೨ಫೇಲಿಕ್ಸನು ಈ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು, ತಕ್ಕ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದವನಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ; “ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಲೂಸ್ಯನು ಬಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಕರಣವನ್ನು ತೀರ್ಮಾನಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆಂದು” ಹೇಳಿ, ವಿಚಾರಣೆಯನ್ನು ತಡೆಮಾಡಿದನು.
23 And he ordered the centurion that Paul should be kept in custody but have some freedom, and not to forbid any of his friends to provide for or to visit him.
೨೩ಅನಂತರ ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಕಾವಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡಬೇಕೆಂದೂ, ಆದರೆ ಕಟ್ಟು ನಿಟ್ಟು ಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದೂ, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಉಪಚಾರ ಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು, ಅಡ್ಡಿಮಾಡಬಾರದೆಂದು ಶತಾಧಿಪತಿಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಮಾಡಿದನು.
24 Now after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith into Christ Jesus.
೨೪ಕೆಲವು ದಿನಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಫೇಲಿಕ್ಸನು, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯಳಾದ ದ್ರೂಸಿಲ್ಲಳೆಂಬ ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ ಯೇಸುವಿನಲ್ಲಿಡತಕ್ಕ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಅವನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
25 But as he expounded on righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix became afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have occasion I will summon you.”
೨೫ಪೌಲನು ನೀತಿ, ಶಮೆದಮೆ, ಹಾಗೂ ಮುಂದಣ ನ್ಯಾಯವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಇವುಗಳ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಫೇಲಿಕ್ಸನು ಭಯಗ್ರಸ್ತನಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ; “ಸದ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗು; ಸಮಯ ದೊರಕಿದಾಗ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
26 At the same time he was also hoping that Paul would give him money, that he might release him; so he frequently summoned and conversed with him.
೨೬ಅದೇ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಪೌಲನು ತನಗೇನಾದರೂ ಹಣಕೊಡುವನೋ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿಯೂ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಆಗಾಗ್ಗೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ, ಅವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಾಪಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
27 But after two years, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus; so Felix, wanting to do the Jews a favor, left Paul in prison.
೨೭ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳು ತುಂಬಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಫೇಲಿಕ್ಸನ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಪೋರ್ಕಿಯ ಫೆಸ್ತನು ಎಂಬವನು ಬಂದನು. ಫೇಲಿಕ್ಸನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಸೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋದನು.
