Romans 1
1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
Paul, serviteur de Jésus-Christ, appelé à l’apostolat, choisi pour l’Evangile de Dieu,
2 Which he had promised before, by his prophets, in the holy scriptures,
Qu’il avait promis auparavant par ses prophètes dans les saintes Ecritures,
3 Concerning his Son, who was made to him of the seed of David, according to the flesh,
Touchant son Fils, qui lui est né de la race de David selon la chair,
4 Who was predestinated the Son of God in power, according to the spirit of sanctification, by the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead;
Qui a été prédestiné Fils de Dieu en puissance, selon l’esprit de sanctification, par la résurrection d’entre les morts, de Jésus-Christ Notre-Seigneur;
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith, in all nations, for his name;
Par qui nous avons reçu la grâce et l’apostolat, pour faire obéir à la foi toutes les nations en son nom;
6 Among whom are you also the called of Jesus Christ:
Parmi lesquelles vous êtes, vous aussi, ayant été appelés par Jésus-Christ:
7 To all that are at Rome, the beloved of God, called to be saints. Grace to you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
À tous ceux qui sont à Rome, aux chéris de Dieu, appelés saints. Grâce à vous, et paix par Dieu, notre Père, et par Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
8 First I give thanks to my God, through Jesus Christ, for you all, because your faith is spoken of in the whole world.
Premièrement, je rends grâces à mon Dieu, par Jésus-Christ, pour vous tous, de ce que votre foi est annoncée dans tout l’univers.
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make a commemoration of you;
Car le Dieu que je sers en mon esprit, dans l’Evangile de son Fils, m’est témoin que sans cesse je fais mémoire de vous
10 Always in my prayers making request, if by any means now at length I may have a prosperous journey, by the will of God, to come unto you.
Dans toutes mes prières; demandant que, par la volonté de Dieu, quelque heureuse voie me soit ouverte pour aller vers vous.
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual grace, to strengthen you:
Car je désire vous voir pour vous communiquer quelque chose de la grâce spirituelle, afin de vous fortifier;
12 That is to say, that I may be comforted together in you, by that which is common to us both, your faith and mine.
C’est-à-dire, pour me consoler avec vous par cette foi, qui est tout ensemble et votre foi et la mienne.
13 And I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that I have often purposed to come unto you, (and have been hindered hitherto, ) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
Aussi je ne veux pas que vous ignoriez, mes frères, que je me suis souvent proposé de venir vers vous (mais j’en ai été empêché jusqu’à présent), pour obtenir quelque fruit parmi vous, comme parmi les autres nations.
14 To the Greeks and to the barbarians, to the wise and to the unwise, I am a debtor;
Je suis redevable aux Grecs et aux barbares, aux sages et aux simples;
15 So (as much as is in me) I am ready to preach the gospel to you also that are at Rome.
Ainsi (autant qu’il est en moi), je suis prêt à vous évangéliser, vous aussi qui êtes à Rome.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel. For it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and to the Greek.
Car je ne rougis point de l’Evangile, parce qu’il est la vertu de Dieu, pour sauver tout croyant, le Juif d’abord, et puis le Grec.
17 For the justice of God is revealed therein, from faith unto faith, as it is written: The just man liveth by faith.
La justice de Dieu, en effet, y est révélée par la foi et pour la foi, ainsi qu’il est écrit: Le Juste vit de la foi;
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and injustice of those men that detain the truth of God in injustice:
Puisqu’on y découvre la justice de Dieu éclatant du ciel contre toute l’impiété et l’injustice de ces hommes qui retiennent la vérité de Dieu dans l’injustice;
19 Because that which is known of God is manifest in them. For God hath manifested it unto them.
Car ce qui est connu de Dieu est manifeste en eux; Dieu le leur a manifesté.
20 For the invisible things of him, from the creation of the world, are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made; his eternal power also, and divinity: so that they are inexcusable. (aïdios g126)
En effet, ses perfections invisibles, rendues compréhensibles depuis la création du monde par les choses qui ont été faites, sont devenues visibles aussi bien que sa puissance éternelle et sa divinité; de sorte qu’ils sont inexcusables; (aïdios g126)
21 Because that, when they knew God, they have not glorified him as God, or given thanks; but became vain in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Parce que, ayant connu Dieu, ils ne l’ont point glorifié comme Dieu, ou ne lui ont pas rendu grâces; mais ils se sont perdus dans leurs pensées, et leur cœur insensé a été obscurci;
22 For professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
Ainsi, en disant qu’ils étaient sages, ils sont devenus fous.
23 And they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of the image of a corruptible man, and of birds, and of fourfooted beasts, and of creeping things.
Ils ont changé la gloire du Dieu incorruptible contre une image représentant un homme corruptible, des oiseaux, des quadrupèdes et des reptiles.
24 Wherefore God gave them up to the desires of their heart, unto uncleanness, to dishonour their own bodies among themselves.
Aussi Dieu les a livrés aux désirs de leurs cœurs, à l’impureté; en sorte qu’ils ont déshonoré leurs propres corps en eux-mêmes;
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
Eux qui ont transformé la vérité de Dieu en mensonge, adoré et servi la créature au lieu du Créateur, qui est béni dans les siècles. Amen. (aiōn g165)
26 For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature.
C’est pourquoi Dieu les a livrés à des passions d’ignominie. Car leurs femmes ont changé l’usage naturel en l’usage contre nature.
27 And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.
Et pareillement les hommes, l’usage naturel de la femme abandonné, ont brûlé de désirs l’un pour l’autre, l’homme commettant l’infamie avec l’homme, et recevant ainsi en eux-mêmes la récompense qui était due à leur égarement.
28 And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient;
Et comme ils n’ont pas montré qu’ils avaient la connaissance de Dieu, Dieu les a livrés à un sens réprouvé, de sorte qu’ils ont fait les choses qui ne conviennent pas;
29 Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers,
Remplis de toute iniquité, malice, fornication, avarice, méchanceté; pleins d’envie, de meurtre, de l’esprit de contention, de fraude, de malignité; délateurs,
30 Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Détracteurs, haïs de Dieu, violents, orgueilleux, arrogants, inventeurs de toutes sortes de mal, désobéissants à leurs parents;
31 Foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy.
Insensés, dissolus, sans affection, sans fidélité, sans miséricorde,
32 Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.
Qui, ayant connu la justice de Dieu, n’ont pas compris que ceux qui font ces choses sont dignes de mort; et non seulement ceux qui les font, mais quiconque aussi approuve ceux qui les font.
