Revelation 17
1 And there came one of the seven angels, who had the seven vials, and spoke with me, saying: Come, I will shew thee the condemnation of the great harlot, who sitteth upon many waters,
Uno de los siete ángeles que tenían las siete copas vino y habló conmigo diciendo: “Ven aquí. Te mostraré el juicio de la gran prostituta que está sentada sobre muchas aguas,
2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication; and they who inhabit the earth, have been made drunk with the whine of her whoredom.
con la cual los reyes de la tierra cometieron inmoralidad sexual. Los que habitan en la tierra se embriagaron con el vino de su inmoralidad sexual”.
3 And he took me away in spirit into the desert. And I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
Me llevó en el Espíritu a un desierto. Vi a una mujer sentada sobre una bestia de color escarlata, llena de nombres blasfemos, que tenía siete cabezas y diez cuernos.
4 And the woman was clothed round about with purple and scarlet, and gilt with gold, and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, full of the abomination and filthiness of her fornication.
La mujer estaba vestida de púrpura y escarlata, y adornada con oro y piedras preciosas y perlas, y tenía en la mano una copa de oro llena de abominaciones y de las impurezas de la inmoralidad sexual de la tierra.
5 And on her forehead a name was written: A mystery; Babylon the great, the mother of the fornications, and the abominations of the earth.
Y en su frente estaba escrito un nombre: “MISTERIO, BABILONIA LA GRANDE, LA MADRE DE LAS PROSTITUCIONES Y DE LAS ABOMINACIONES DE LA TIERRA”.
6 And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And I wondered, when I had seen her, with great admiration.
Vi a la mujer ebria de la sangre de los santos y de la sangre de los mártires de Jesús. Cuando la vi, me maravillé con gran asombro.
7 And the angel said to me: Why dost thou wonder? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast which carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
El ángel me dijo: “¿Por qué te asombras? Te diré el misterio de la mujer y de la bestia que la lleva, que tiene las siete cabezas y los diez cuernos.
8 The beast, which thou sawest, was, and is not, and shall come up out of the bottomless pit, and go into destruction: and the inhabitants on the earth (whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world) shall wonder, seeing the beast that was, and is not. La bestia que has visto era, y no es; y está a punto de subir del abismo e ir a la destrucción. Los que habitan en la tierra y cuyos nombres no están escritos en el libro de la vida desde la fundación del mundo se maravillarán cuando vean que la bestia era, y no es, y estará presente. (Abyssos g12)
9 And here is the understanding that hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, upon which the woman sitteth, and they are seven kings:
Aquí está la mente que tiene sabiduría. Las siete cabezas son siete montes sobre los que se sienta la mujer.
10 Five are fallen, one is, and the other is not yet come: and when he is come, he must remain a short time.
Son siete reyes. Cinco han caído, uno es, y el otro aún no ha venido. Cuando venga, debe continuar un poco más.
11 And the beast which was, and is not: the same also is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into destruction.
La bestia que era, y no es, es también la octava, y es de las siete; y va a la destrucción.
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest, are ten kings, who have not yet received a kingdom, but shall receive power as kings one hour after the beast.
Los diez cuernos que has visto son diez reyes que aún no han recibido ningún reino, pero reciben autoridad como reyes con la bestia por una hora.
13 These have one design: and their strength and power they shall deliver to the beast.
Estos tienen una sola mente, y dan su poder y autoridad a la bestia.
14 These shall fight with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, because he is Lord of lords, and King of kings, and they that are with him are called, and elect, and faithful.
Estos guerrearán contra el Cordero, y el Cordero los vencerá, porque es Señor de señores y Rey de reyes; y los que están con él son llamados, elegidos y fieles.”
15 And he said to me: The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sitteth, are peoples, and nations, and tongues.
Me dijo: “Las aguas que viste, donde se sienta la prostituta, son pueblos, multitudes, naciones y lenguas.
16 And the ten horns which thou sawest in the beast: these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and shall burn her with fire.
Los diez cuernos que has visto, ellos y la bestia odiarán a la prostituta, la desolarán, la desnudarán, comerán su carne y la quemarán completamente con fuego.
17 For God hath given into their hearts to do that which pleaseth him: that they give their kingdom to the beast, till the words of God be fulfilled.
Porque Dios ha puesto en sus corazones que hagan lo que él tiene en mente, que sean de un mismo parecer, y que entreguen su reino a la bestia, hasta que se cumplan las palabras de Dios.
18 And the woman which thou sawest, is the great city, which hath kingdom over the kings of the earth.
La mujer que has visto es la gran ciudad que reina sobre los reyes de la tierra.”
