< Psalms 87 >
1 For the sons of Core, a psalm of a canticle. The foundations thereof are in the holy mountains:
A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A song. He has founded His city on the holy mountains.
2 The Lord loveth the gates of Sion above all the tabernacles of Jacob.
The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
3 Glorious things are said of thee, O city of God.
Glorious things are ascribed to you, O city of God.
4 I will be mindful of Rahab and of Babylon knowing me. Behold the foreigners, and Tyre, and the people of the Ethiopians, these were there.
“I will mention Rahab and Babylon among those who know Me— along with Philistia, Tyre, and Cush — when I say, ‘This one was born in Zion.’”
5 Shall not Sion say: This man and that man is born in her? and the Highest himself hath founded her.
And it will be said of Zion: “This one and that one were born in her, and the Most High Himself will establish her.”
6 The Lord shall tell in his writings of peoples and of princes, of them that have been in her.
The LORD will record in the register of the peoples: “This one was born in Zion.”
7 The dwelling in thee is as it were of all rejoicing.
Singers and pipers will proclaim, “All my springs of joy are in You.”
