Psalms 84

1 Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core. How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host!

برای رهبر سرایندگان: در مایۀ گیتّیت. مزمور پسران قورَح. ای خداوند لشکرهای آسمان، چه دلپذیر است خانهٔ تو!

2 My soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God.

دلم هوای صحنهای تو را کرده است! تمام وجودم مشتاق ملاقات توست، ای خدای زنده!

3 For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God.

ای خداوند لشکرهای آسمان که پادشاه من هستی! در کنار مذبحهای خانهٔ تو، حتی گنجشکها نیز برای خود خانه یافته‌اند و پرستوها آشیانه ساخته‌اند تا بچه‌های خود را در آن بگذارند.

4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever.

خوشا به حال آنانی که در خانهٔ تو ساکنند و پیوسته تو را سپاس می‌گویند!

5 Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps,

خوشا به حال کسانی که از تو قوت می‌یابند و از صمیم قلب تو را پیروی می‌کنند.

6 In the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set.

وقتی آنان از بیابان خشک عبور کنند در آنجا چشمه‌ها به وجود خواهند آورد و باران رحمت و برکات بر آن زمین خواهد بارید.

7 For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.

آنان از قدرت به قدرت منتقل خواهند شد و سرانجام بر کوه صهیون در حضور تو، ای خدا خواهند ایستاد.

8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.

ای خداوند، خدای لشکرهای آسمان، دعای مرا اجابت فرما! ای خدای یعقوب، تقاضای مرا بشنو!

9 Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ.

ای خدایی که سپر ما هستی، بر پادشاه برگزیدهٔ خود نظر لطف بیفکن.

10 For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners.

یک روز در صحنهای خانهٔ تو بودن بهتر است از هزار سال در هر جای دیگر در این دنیا! نوکری در خانهٔ تو را بیشتر می‌پسندم تا اربابی در کاخهای شریران.

11 For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory.

زیرا تو ای خداوند، نور ما هستی! تو حافظ و نگهدارندهٔ ما هستی! تو به ما فیض و جلال خواهی داد و هیچ چیز نیکو را منع نخواهی کرد از آنانی که به راستی عمل می‌کنند.

12 He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence: O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

ای خداوند لشکرهای آسمان، خوشا به حال کسی که بر تو توکل دارد!
