< Psalms 80 >
1 Unto the end, for them that shall he changed, a testimony for Asaph, a psalm. Give ear, O thou that rulest Israel: thou that leadest Joseph like a sheep. Thou that sittest upon the cherubims, shine forth
To him that excelleth on Shoshannim Eduth. A Psalme committed to Asaph. Heare, O thou Shepheard of Israel, thou that leadest Ioseph like sheepe: shewe thy brightnes, thou that sittest betweene the Cherubims.
2 Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasses. Stir up thy might, and come to save us.
Before Ephraim and Beniamin and Manasseh stirre vp thy strength, and come to helpe vs.
3 Convert us, O God: and shew us thy face, and we shall be saved.
Turne vs againe, O God, and cause thy face to shine that we may be saued.
4 O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy servant?
O Lord God of hostes, how long wilt thou be angrie against the prayer of thy people?
5 How long wilt thou feed us with the bread of tears: and give us for our drink tears in measure?
Thou hast fedde them with the bread of teares, and giuen them teares to drinke with great measure.
6 Thou hast made us to be a contradiction to our neighbours: and our enemies have scoffed at us.
Thou hast made vs a strife vnto our neighbours, and our enemies laugh at vs among themselues.
7 O God of hosts, convert us: and shew thy face, and we shall be saved.
Turne vs againe, O God of hostes: cause thy face to shine, and we shalbe saued.
8 Thou hast brought a vineyard out of Egypt: thou hast cast cut the Gentiles and planted it.
Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.
9 Thou wast the guide of its journey in its sight: thou plantedst the roots thereof, and it filled the land.
Thou madest roume for it, and didest cause it to take roote, and it filled the land.
10 The shadow of it covered the hills: and the branches thereof the cedars of God.
The mountaines were couered with the shadowe of it, and the boughes thereof were like the goodly cedars.
11 It stretched forth its branches unto the sea, and its boughs unto the river.
Shee stretched out her branches vnto the Sea, and her boughes vnto the Riuer.
12 Why hast thou broken down the hedge thereof, so that all they who pass by the way do pluck it?
Why hast thou then broken downe her hedges, so that all they, which passe by the way, haue plucked her?
13 The boar out of the wood hath laid it waste: and a singular wild beast hath devoured it.
The wilde bore out of the wood hath destroyed it, and the wilde beastes of the fielde haue eaten it vp.
14 Turn again, O God of hosts, look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vineyard:
Returne we beseech thee, O God of hostes: looke downe from heauen and beholde and visite this vine,
15 And perfect the same which thy right hand hath planted: and upon the son of man whom thou hast confirmed for thyself.
And the vineyard, that thy right hand hath planted, and the young vine, which thou madest strong for thy selfe.
16 Things set on fire and dug down shall perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
It is burnt with fire and cut downe: and they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand: and upon the son of man whom thou hast confirmed for thyself.
Let thine hande be vpon the man of thy right hande, and vpon the sonne of man, whome thou madest strong for thine owne selfe.
18 And we depart not from thee, thou shalt quicken us: and we will call upon thy name.
So will not we goe backe from thee: reuiue thou vs, and we shall call vpon thy Name.
19 O Lord God of hosts, convert us: and shew thy face, and we shall be saved.
Turne vs againe, O Lord God of hostes: cause thy face to shine and we shalbe saued.
