Psalms 76
1 Unto the end, in praises, a psalm for Asaph: a canticle to the Assyrians. In Judea God is known: his name is great in Israel.
Pour le musicien en chef. Sur instruments à cordes. Un psaume d'Asaph. Un chant. En Judée, Dieu est connu. Son nom est grand en Israël.
2 And his place is in peace: and his abode in Sion:
Son tabernacle est aussi à Salem. Sa demeure est à Sion.
3 There hath he broken the powers of bows, the shield, the sword, and the battie.
Là, il brisa les flèches enflammées de l'arc, le bouclier, l'épée, et les armes de guerre. (Selah)
4 Thou enlightenest wonderfully from the everlasting hills.
Tu es glorieux et excellent, plus que des montagnes de gibier.
5 All the foolish of heart were troubled. They have slept their sleep; and all the men of riches have found nothing in their hands.
Les hommes valeureux sont pillés, ils ont dormi leur dernier sommeil. Aucun des hommes de guerre ne peut lever la main.
6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, they have all slumbered that mounted on horseback.
A ta réprimande, Dieu de Jacob, le char et le cheval sont plongés dans un sommeil de mort.
7 Thou art terrible, and who shall resist thee? from that time thy wrath.
Vous, même vous, êtes à craindre. Qui peut se tenir devant toi quand tu es en colère?
8 Thou hast caused judgment to be heard from heaven: the earth trembled and was still,
Tu as prononcé le jugement du ciel. La terre a eu peur et s'est tue,
9 When God arose in judgment, to save all the meek of the earth.
quand Dieu s'est levé pour juger, pour sauver tous les affligés de la terre. (Selah)
10 For the thought of man shall give praise to thee: and the remainders of the thought shall keep holiday to thee.
Certes, la colère de l'homme te loue. Les survivants de votre colère sont retenus.
11 Vow ye, and pay to the Lord your God: all you that are round about him bring presents. To him that is terrible,
Fais des vœux à Yahvé ton Dieu, et accomplis-les! Que tous ses voisins apportent des cadeaux à celui qui est à craindre.
12 Even to him who taketh away the spirit of princes: to the terrible with the kings of the earth.
Il retranchera l'esprit des princes. Il est craint par les rois de la terre.
