Psalms 76

1 Unto the end, in praises, a psalm for Asaph: a canticle to the Assyrians. In Judea God is known: his name is great in Israel.

Přednímu z kantorů na neginot, žalm Azafův a píseň. Znám jest Bůh v Judstvu, a v Izraeli veliké jméno jeho.

2 And his place is in peace: and his abode in Sion:

V Sálem jest stánek jeho, a obydlé jeho na Sionu.

3 There hath he broken the powers of bows, the shield, the sword, and the battie.

Tamť jest polámal ohnivé šípy lučišť, pavézu a meč, i válku. (Sélah)

4 Thou enlightenest wonderfully from the everlasting hills.

Slavný jsi učiněn a důstojný horami loupeže.

5 All the foolish of heart were troubled. They have slept their sleep; and all the men of riches have found nothing in their hands.

V loupež dáni jsou udatní srdcem, zesnuli snem svým, aniž nalezly zmužilé hrdiny síly v rukou svých.

6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, they have all slumbered that mounted on horseback.

Od žehrání tvého, ó Bože Jákobův, i vůz i kůň tvrdě zesnuli.

7 Thou art terrible, and who shall resist thee? from that time thy wrath.

Ty jsi, ty velmi hrozný, a kdo jest, ješto by před tebou ostál v rozhněvání tvém?

8 Thou hast caused judgment to be heard from heaven: the earth trembled and was still,

Když s nebe dáváš slyšeti výpověd svou, země se bojí a tichne,

9 When God arose in judgment, to save all the meek of the earth.

Když povstává k soudu Bůh, aby zachoval všecky pokorné na zemi. (Sélah)

10 For the thought of man shall give praise to thee: and the remainders of the thought shall keep holiday to thee.

Zajisté i hněv člověka chváliti tě musí, a ostatek zůřivosti skrotíš.

11 Vow ye, and pay to the Lord your God: all you that are round about him bring presents. To him that is terrible,

Sliby čiňte a plňte Hospodinu Bohu vašemu; kteřížkoli jste vůkol něho, přinášejte dary Přehroznému.

12 Even to him who taketh away the spirit of princes: to the terrible with the kings of the earth.

Onť odjímá ducha knížatům, a k hrůze jest králům zemským.
