Psalms 55
1 Unto the end, in verses, understanding for David. Hear, O God, my prayer, and despise not my supplication:
Auf den Siegesspender, bei Saitenspiel, ein Lehrgedicht, von David. Gott! Höre mein Gebet! Verbirg Dich nicht vor meinem Flehen!
2 Be attentive to me and hear me. I am grieved in my exercise; and am troubled,
Merk doch auf mich, erhöre mich! Ich bin verwirrt und zage kläglich,
3 At the voice of the enemy, and at the tribulation of the sinner. For they have cast iniquities upon me: and in wrath they were troublesome to me.
dieweil der Feind so tobt, der Frevler drängt, und Unheil wälzen sie auf mich und sind mir heftig gram. -
4 My heart is troubled within me: and the fear of death is fallen upon me.
Mir bebt das Herz in meiner Brust; mich überfallen Todesängste.
5 Fear and trembling are come upon me: and darkness hath covered me.
Und Furcht und Zittern überkommen mich; ein Schauder überschauert mich.
6 And I said: Who will give me wings like a dove, and I will fly and be at rest?
Ach, hätte ich doch Taubenschwingen, wünschte ich, ich flöge fort und suchte Rast!
7 Lo, I have gone far off flying away; and I abode in the wilderness.
In weite Ferne hin, zur Wüste in die Herberge! (Sela)
8 I waited for him that hath saved me from pusillanimity of spirit, and a storm.
Geschwinder eilte ich zu meiner Zufluchtsstatt als Sturm und Wirbelwind.
9 Cast down, O Lord, and divide their tongues; for I have seen iniquity and contradiction in the city.
Herr! Spalte, teile ihre Zunge! Ich sehe Streit und Frevel in der Stadt.
10 Day and night shall iniquity surround it upon its walls: and in the midst thereof are labour,
Sie wandeln Tag und Nacht um ihre Mauern, und Not und Jammer herrscht darin.
11 And injustice. And usury and deceit have not departed from its streets.
Verderben herrscht in ihr; von ihrem Markte weicht nicht Lug noch Trug.
12 For if my enemy had reviled me, I would verily have borne with it. And if he that hated me had spoken great things against me, I would perhaps have hidden myself from him.
Nicht schmäht mich jetzt mein Feind; denn das ertrüge ich. Mein Hasser höhnt mich nicht, sonst bärge ich mich sicherlich vor ihm.
13 But thou a man of one mind, my guide, and my familiar,
Nein! Du, ein Mensch von meinem Rang, mein Freund, mein Busenfreund!
14 Who didst take sweetmeats together with me: in the house of God we walked with consent.
Die wir vertraulich miteinander lebten, zum Gotteshaus im Zuge wallten! -
15 Let death come upon them, and let them go down alive into hell. For there is wickedness in their dwellings: in the midst of them. (Sheol h7585)
Sie überliste jetzt der Tod, daß sie lebendig in die Hölle fahren! In ihrem Innern nistet Bosheit. (Sheol h7585)
16 But I have cried to God: and the Lord will save me.
Ich ruf' zu Gott, der Herr mög' mich erretten!
17 Evening and morning, and at noon I will speak and declare: and he shall hear my voice.
Ich klage abends, morgens, mittags, seufzend. Er möge meinen Ruf erhören.-
18 He shall redeem my soul in peace from them that draw near to me: for among many they were with me.
"Erlöse mich zum Heil aus diesem Kampfe gegen mich! Sie stehn im Kampf mit mir."
19 God shall hear, and the Eternal shall humble them. For there is no change with them, and they have not feared God:
Gott höre es und beuge sie und stoße sie zurück, (Sela) die nicht Versöhnung kennen und Gott nicht fürchten!
20 He hath stretched forth his hand to repay. They have defiled his covenant,
Vergriffen hat er sich sogar an meinen Opfern, an seinem Bund gefrevelt.
21 They are divided by the wrath Of his countenance, and his heart hath drawn near. His words are smoother than oil, and the same are darts.
Sein Mund war glatt, der Butter gleich, doch stand nach Kampf sein Sinn. Geschmeidiger als Öl, so waren seine Worte, und doch gezwickte Dolche:
22 Cast thy care upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall not suffer the just to waver for ever.
"Befiehl dich doch dem Herrn! Er hat dich lieb und sorgt für dichund läßt nicht den Gerechten wanken."
23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction. Bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee, O Lord.
Der Todesgrube übergib sie, Gott! Blutmenschen und Betrüger sollen nicht zur Hälfte ihrer Lebenstage kommen! Auf Dich vertraue ich.
