Psalms 48
1 A psalm of a canticle, for the sons of Core, on the second day of the week. Great is the Lord, and exceedingly to be praised in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
Ein Lied. Ein Psalm der Söhne Korahs.
2 With the joy of the whole earth is mount Sion founded, on the sides of the north, the city of the great king.
Groß ist Jahwe und hoch zu preisen / In unsers Gottes Stadt, auf seinem heiligen Berge.
3 In her houses shall God be known, when he shall protect her.
Lieblich erhebt sich der Zionsberg, die Wonne der ganzen Erde. / Ein Gottessitz ist da des großen Königs Stadt.
4 For behold the kings of the earth assembled themselves: they gathered together.
An ihren Palästen hat Elohim / Als sichre Schutzwehr sich kundgetan.
5 So they saw, and they wondered, they were troubled, they were moved:
Denn sieh, die Könige fanden sich ein, / Sie zogen verbündet heran.
6 Trembling took hold of them. There were pains as of a woman in labour.
Doch als sie schauten, da staunten sie. / Sie wurden bestürzt und flohen voll Angst.
7 With a vehement wind thou shalt break in pieces the ships of Tharsis.
Beben ergriff sie daselbst, / Zittern gleich einer Gebärerin.
8 As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God hath founded it for ever.
Wie Tarsisschiffe der Oststurm zerschellt, / (So wurden die Feinde vernichtet).
9 We have received thy mercy, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
Was wir gehört, wir haben's nun selbst / In Jahwes Heerscharen Stadt erlebt, / In unsers Gottes Stadt: / Elohim erhält sie auf ewig! (Sela)
10 According to thy name, O God, so also is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of justice.
Wir haben, Elohim, deiner Gnade geharrt / Inmitten deines Tempels.
11 Let mount Sion rejoice, and the daughters of Juda be glad; because of thy judgments, O Lord.
Wie dein Name, Elohim, so reicht auch dein Ruhm / Bis an die Enden der Erde. / Deine Rechte ist voller Gerechtigkeit.
12 Surround Sion, and encompass her: tell ye in her towers.
So freuet sich denn der Zionsberg, / Laut jubeln die Töchter Judas / Um deiner Gerichte willen.
13 Set your hearts on her strength; and distribute her houses, that ye may relate it in another generation.
Geht rings um Zion, umwandelt es, / Zählt seine Türme!
14 For this is God, our God unto eternity, and for ever and ever: he shall rule us for evermore.
Gebt acht auf seine Mauer, / Durchschreitet seine Paläste, / Damit ihr dem künftigen Geschlecht erzählt: "Dieser Gott ist unser Gott auf immer und ewig! / Er führt uns auch über den Tod hinaus."
