< Psalms 30 >

1 A psalm of a canticle, at the dedication of David’s house. I will extol thee, O Lord, for thou hast upheld me: and hast not made my enemies to rejoice over me.
I will extol you, O LORD; for you have lifted me up, and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I have cried to thee, and then hast healed me.
O LORD my God, I cried to you, and you have healed me.
3 Thou hast brought forth, O Lord, my soul from hell: thou hast saved me from them that go down into the pit. (Sheol h7585)
O LORD, you have brought up my soul from the grave: you have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. (Sheol h7585)
4 Sing to the Lord, O ye his saints: and give praise to the memory of his holiness.
Sing to the LORD, O you saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
5 For wrath is in his indignation; and life in his good will. In the evening weeping shall have place, and in the morning gladness.
For his anger endures but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
6 And in my abundance I said: I shall never be moved.
And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
7 O Lord, in thy favour, thou gavest strength to my beauty. Thou turnedst away thy face from me, and I became troubled.
LORD, by your favor you have made my mountain to stand strong: you did hide your face, and I was troubled.
8 To thee, O Lord, will I cry: and I will make supplication to my God.
I cried to you, O LORD; and to the LORD I made supplication.
9 What profit is there in my blood, whilst I go down to corruption? Shall dust confess to thee, or declare thy truth?
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? shall it declare your truth?
10 The Lord hath heard, and hath had mercy on me: the Lord became my helper.
Hear, O LORD, and have mercy on me: LORD, be you my helper.
11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into joy: thou hast cut my sackcloth, and hast compassed me with gladness:
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing: you have put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12 To the end that my glory may sing to thee, and I may not regret: O Lord my God, I will give praise to thee for ever.
To the end that my glory may sing praise to you, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you for ever.
