Psalms 20

1 Unto the end. A psalm for David. May the Lord hear thee in the day of tribulation: may the name of the God of Jacob protect thee.

Jusqu'à la Fin, psaume de David. Que le Seigneur t'exauce au jour de l'affliction; que le nom du Dieu de Jacob te protège!

2 May he send thee help from the sanctuary: and defend thee out of Sion.

Que du lieu saint il t'envoie son secours, et que, de Sion, il prenne ta défense!

3 May he be mindful of all thy sacrifices: and may thy whole burnt offering be made fat.

Qu'il se souvienne de tout ton sacrifice, et que ton holocauste lui soit agréable!

4 May he give thee according to thy own heart; and confirm all thy counsels.

Qu'il te gratifie selon ton cœur et accomplisse tous tes desseins!

5 We will rejoice in thy salvation; and in the name of our God we shall be exalted.

Nous nous réjouirons de ton salut; nous serons glorifiés au nom du Seigneur notre Dieu. Que le Seigneur t'accorde toutes tes demandes!

6 The Lord fulfill all thy petitions: now have I known that the Lord hath saved his anointed. He will hear him from his holy heaven: the salvation of his right hand is in powers.

Je sais maintenant que le Seigneur a sauvé son Christ. Il l'exaucera du ciel son lieu saint; le salut qui vient de sa main droite est tout-puissant.

7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will call upon the name of the Lord our God.

Les uns se glorifient en leurs chevaux, les autres en leurs chars; pour nous, c'est dans le nom du Seigneur que nous nous glorifions.

8 They are bound, and have fallen; but we are risen, and are set upright.

Ceux-là se sont embarrassés dans leurs liens, et ils sont tombés; nous nous sommes levés et nous nous tenons debout.

9 O Lord, save the king: and hear us in the day that we shall call upon thee.

Seigneur, sauve le roi, et exauce-nous le jour où nous t'invoquerons.
