Proverbs 9
1 Wisdom hath built herself a house, she hath hewn her out seven pillars.
੧ਬੁੱਧ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਘਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਤ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ ਘੜ੍ਹ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
2 She hath slain her victims, mingled her wine, and set forth her table.
੨ਉਹ ਨੇ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੈ ਰਲਾ ਲਈ, ਉਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਜ਼ ਵੀ ਸਜਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
3 She hath sent her maids to invite to the tower, and to the walls of the city:
੩ਉਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਦਾਸੀਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਸੱਦਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੁਕਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ,
4 Whosoever is a little one, let him come to me. And to the unwise she said:
੪ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਭੋਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਰੇ ਜਾਵੇ! ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨਿਰਬੁੱਧ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੈ,
5 Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine which I have mingled for you.
੫ਆਓ, ਮੇਰੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਖਾਓ, ਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਰਲਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਮੈ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਪੀਓ!
6 Forsake childishness, and live, and walk by the ways of prudence.
੬ਭੋਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡੋ ਤੇ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਤੁਰੋ!
7 He that teacheth a scorner, doth an injury to himself: and he that rebuketh a wicked man, getteth himself a blot.
੭ਮਖ਼ੌਲੀਏ ਨੂੰ ਤਾੜਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਬੇਇੱਜ਼ਤੀ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਨੂੰ ਡਾਂਟਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਧੱਬਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
8 Rebuke not a scorner lest he hate thee. Rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
੮ਮਖ਼ੌਲੀਏ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਤਾੜ ਕਿਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ, ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਾੜ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ।
9 Give an occasion to a wise man, and wisdom shall be added to him. Teach a just man, and he shall make haste to receive it.
੯ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ, ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਧਰਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾ, ਉਹ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਧ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is prudence.
੧੦ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਬੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਅੱਤ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਹੈ।
11 For by me shall thy days be multiplied, and years of life shall be added to thee.
੧੧ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਧੇਗੀ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਲ ਢੇਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ।
12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be so to thyself: and if a scorner, thou alone shalt bear the evil.
੧੨ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਸਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਪਾਵੇਂਗਾ, ਪਰ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਹੀ ਉਸਦਾ ਦੰਡ ਭੋਗੇਂਗਾ।
13 A foolish woman and clamorous, and full of allurements, and knowing nothing at all,
੧੩ਮੂਰਖ ਔਰਤ ਬੜਬੋਲੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭੋਲੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਣਦੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
14 Sat at the door of her house, upon a seat, in a high place of the city,
੧੪ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਕੋਲ, ਅਤੇ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
15 To call them that pass by the way, and go on their journey:
੧੫ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਰਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦੇ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਹ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਤੁਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
16 He that is a little one, let him turn to me. And to the fool she said:
੧੬ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੋਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਐਥੇ ਆਵੇ! ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਨਿਰਬੁੱਧ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੈ,
17 Stolen waters are sweeter, and hid den bread is more pleasant.
੧੭ਚੋਰੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਮਿੱਠਾ, ਅਤੇ ਲੁਕਮੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਸੁਆਦਲੀ ਹੈ!
