Proverbs 9
1 Wisdom hath built herself a house, she hath hewn her out seven pillars.
Die Weisheit bauete ihr Haus und hieb sieben Säulen,
2 She hath slain her victims, mingled her wine, and set forth her table.
schlachtete ihr Vieh und trug ihren Wein auf und bereitete ihren Tisch
3 She hath sent her maids to invite to the tower, and to the walls of the city:
und sandte ihre Dirnen aus, zu laden oben auf die Paläste der Stadt:
4 Whosoever is a little one, let him come to me. And to the unwise she said:
Wer albern ist, der mache sich hieher! Und zum Narren sprach sie:
5 Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine which I have mingled for you.
Kommt, zehret von meinem Brot und trinket des Weins, den ich schenke!
6 Forsake childishness, and live, and walk by the ways of prudence.
Verlasset das alberne Wesen, so werdet ihr leben; und gehet auf dem Wege des Verstandes.
7 He that teacheth a scorner, doth an injury to himself: and he that rebuketh a wicked man, getteth himself a blot.
Wer den Spötter züchtiget, der muß Schande auf sich nehmen; und wer den Gottlosen straft, der muß gehöhnet werden.
8 Rebuke not a scorner lest he hate thee. Rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
Strafe den Spötter nicht, er hasset dich; strafe den Weisen, der wird dich lieben.
9 Give an occasion to a wise man, and wisdom shall be added to him. Teach a just man, and he shall make haste to receive it.
Gib dem Weisen, so wird er noch weiser werden; lehre den Gerechten, so wird er in der Lehre zunehmen.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is prudence.
Der Weisheit Anfang ist des HERRN Furcht; und der Verstand lehret, was heilig ist.
11 For by me shall thy days be multiplied, and years of life shall be added to thee.
Denn durch mich wird deiner Tage viel werden, und werden dir der Jahre des Lebens mehr werden.
12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be so to thyself: and if a scorner, thou alone shalt bear the evil.
Bist du weise, so bist du dir weise; bist du ein Spötter, so wirst du es allein tragen.
13 A foolish woman and clamorous, and full of allurements, and knowing nothing at all,
Es ist aber ein töricht, wild Weib, voll Schwätzens und weiß nichts;
14 Sat at the door of her house, upon a seat, in a high place of the city,
die sitzt in der Tür ihres Hauses auf dem Stuhl, oben in der Stadt,
15 To call them that pass by the way, and go on their journey:
zu laden alle, die vorübergehen und richtig auf ihrem Wege wandeln.
16 He that is a little one, let him turn to me. And to the fool she said:
Wer ist albern, der mache sich hieher! Und zum Narren spricht sie:
17 Stolen waters are sweeter, and hid den bread is more pleasant.
Die verstohlenen Wasser sind süß und das verborgene Brot ist niedlich.
