< Proverbs 7 >
1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my precepts with thee. Son,
Yaa ilma ko, dubbii koo eegiitii ajaja koos of keessatti kuufadhu.
2 Keep my commandments, and thou shalt live: and my law as the apple of thy eye:
Ajaja koo eegi, ati ni jiraataatii; barsiisa koos akkuma qaroo ija keetiitti eegi.
3 Bind it upon thy fingers, write it upon the tables of thy heart.
Quba keetti isaan hidhadhu; gabatee garaa keetii irrattis barreeffadhu.
4 Say to wisdom: Thou art my sister: and call prudence thy friend,
Ogummaan, “Ati obboleettii koo ti” jedhi; hubannaa immoo, fira koo jedhii waami;
5 That she may keep thee from the woman that is not thine, and from the stranger who sweeteneth her words.
isaan sagaagaltuu irraa, niitii kashlabbee dubbii isheetiin nama harkiftu irraa si eegu.
6 For I look out of the window of my house through the lattice,
Ani foddaa mana koo biraa keessaan, karaa qaawwaatiin ala ilaale.
7 And I see little ones, I behold a foolish young man,
Ani warra homaa hin dandeenye keessatti, dargaggoota keessatti hubadhee dargaggeessa qalbii hin qabne tokko arge.
8 Who passeth through the street by the corner, and goeth nigh the way of her house.
Innis karaa mana ishee dhaqu qabatee daandii golee mana ishee bira jiruutiin gad buʼaa ture.
9 In the dark, when it grows late, in the darkness and obscurity of the night,
Kunis yeroo aduun dhiitee lafti dimimmisaaʼaa turetti, yeroo halkan dukkanaaʼuu jalqabetti ture.
10 And behold a woman meeteth him in harlot’s attire prepared to deceive souls; talkative and wandering,
Dubartiin tokko akka sagaagaltuutti uffattee yaada haxxummaatiin isa simachuuf gad baate.
11 Not bearing to be quiet, not able to abide still at home,
Isheen iyyituu fi kashlabbee dha; miilli ishee mana hin dhaabatu;
12 Now abroad, now in the streets, now lying in wait near the corners.
takka daandii irratti, takka oobdii irratti, golee hundatti riphxee nama eeggatti.
13 And catching the young man, she kisseth him, and with an impudent face, flattereth, saying:
Isheen qabdee isa dhungatti; fuula qaanii hin qabneen akkana jettiin:
14 I vowed victims for prosperity, this day I have paid my vows.
“Ani aarsaa nagaa dhiʼeessuun qaba; harʼa wareega koo guuttadheera.
15 Therefore I am come out to meet thee, desirous to see thee, and I have found thee.
Kanaafuu ani si simachuufin gad baʼe; ani barbaadee si argadheera!
16 I have woven my bed with cords, I have covered it with painted tapestry, brought from Egypt.
Ani wayyaa bareedduu quncee talbaa irraa hojjetame kan Gibxii dhufeen, siree koo afee miidhagseera.
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
Ani qumbiin, argeessaa fi qarafaan siree koo urgeesseera.
18 Come, let us be inebriated with the breasts, and let us enjoy the desired embraces, till the day appear.
Kottu mee hamma bariitti gad fageenya jaalalaa walii wajjin dhugnaa; kottu jaalalaan of gammachiifnaa!
19 For my husband is not at home, he is gone a very long journey.
Dhirsi koo mana hin jiru; inni karaa dheeraa deemeera.
20 He took with him a bag of money: he mill return home the day of the full moon.
Inni boorsaa isaa maallaqaan guuttatee deeme; hamma jiʼi goobanutti manatti hin deebiʼu.”
21 She entangled him with many words, and drew him away with the flattery of her lips.
Isheen dubbii miʼooftuudhaan karaa irraa isa jalʼifte; haasaa nama sossobuunis isa dirqisiifte.
22 Immediately he followeth her as an ox led to be a victim, and as a lamb playing the wanton, and not knowing that he is drawn like a fool to bonds,
Innis akkuma sangaa qalamuuf deemuutti, akkuma gadamsa kiyyoo keessa seenuuttis yommusuma kaʼee ishee duukaa buʼe;
23 Till the arrow pierce his liver: as if a bird should make haste to the snare, and knoweth not that his life is in danger.
akkuma simbira kiyyootti ariifattuutti, inni hamma xiyyi tiruu isaa waraanutti akka wanni kun lubbuu isaa galaafatu hin beeku.
24 Now therefore, my son, hear me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
Egaa yaa ilmaan ko, na dhaggeeffadhaa; waan ani jedhus qalbeeffadhaa.
25 Let not thy mind be drawn away in her ways: neither be thou deceived with her paths.
Akka garaan kee karaa isheetti garagalu hin godhin; karaa kee irraas baddee daandii ishee irra hin buʼin.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded, and the strongest have been slain by her.
Namoonni hedduun warra isheen lafaan dhooftee dha; namoonni jajjaboon baayʼeenis harka isheetti dhumaniiru.
27 Her house is the way to hell, reaching even to the inner chambers of death. (Sheol )
Manni ishee karaa qileetti nama geessu, kan gola duʼaatti gad nama buusuu dha. (Sheol )
