Proverbs 7
1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my precepts with thee. Son,
Mon fils, honore le Seigneur, et tu seras bon; et n'aie point d'autre crainte.
2 Keep my commandments, and thou shalt live: and my law as the apple of thy eye:
Garde mes préceptes, et tu vivras; et mes paroles, comme la prunelle de tes yeux,
3 Bind it upon thy fingers, write it upon the tables of thy heart.
attache-les autour de tes doigts; grave-les sur la table de ton cœur.
4 Say to wisdom: Thou art my sister: and call prudence thy friend,
Dis que la sagesse est ta sœur, et fais de la prudence ton amie;
5 That she may keep thee from the woman that is not thine, and from the stranger who sweeteneth her words.
afin qu'elle te garde de la femme étrangère et perverse, lorsqu'elle te provoquera avec des paroles flatteuses.
6 For I look out of the window of my house through the lattice,
Car de sa fenêtre elle se penche sur les places publiques
7 And I see little ones, I behold a foolish young man,
pour voir un fils des insensés, un jeune homme pauvre d'intelligence,
8 Who passeth through the street by the corner, and goeth nigh the way of her house.
passant à l'angle de la rue près de sa maison, et parlant
9 In the dark, when it grows late, in the darkness and obscurity of the night,
dans l'obscurité du soir, au moment du calme de la nuit et des ténèbres;
10 And behold a woman meeteth him in harlot’s attire prepared to deceive souls; talkative and wandering,
et la femme descend à sa rencontre; elle a cette beauté de courtisane qui fait tressaillir le cœur des adolescents
11 Not bearing to be quiet, not able to abide still at home,
elle est volage et luxurieuse, et ses pieds ne peuvent se tenir au logis;
12 Now abroad, now in the streets, now lying in wait near the corners.
car tantôt elle rode dehors, tantôt elle se tient à l'affût à tous les angles des places.
13 And catching the young man, she kisseth him, and with an impudent face, flattereth, saying:
Puis elle l'arrête; elle l'embrasse, et lui dit d'une voix impudente
14 I vowed victims for prosperity, this day I have paid my vows.
J'ai chez moi une victime pacifique; je rends grâce aujourd'hui;
15 Therefore I am come out to meet thee, desirous to see thee, and I have found thee.
c'est pour cela que je suis venue au-devant de toi; j'ai désiré ton visage, je t'ai trouvé.
16 I have woven my bed with cords, I have covered it with painted tapestry, brought from Egypt.
J'ai tressé les sangles de mon lit, et l'ai couvert de doubles tapis d'Égypte.
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
J'ai parfumé ma couche de safran, et ma maison de cinnamome.
18 Come, let us be inebriated with the breasts, and let us enjoy the desired embraces, till the day appear.
Viens, et jouissons de l'amitié jusqu'à l'aurore; entre, et livrons-nous à l'amour.
19 For my husband is not at home, he is gone a very long journey.
Car mon mari n'est pas au logis; il est parti pour un long voyage.
20 He took with him a bag of money: he mill return home the day of the full moon.
Il a pris en sa main un grand sac d'argent; il ne reviendra pas de longtemps dans sa demeure.
21 She entangled him with many words, and drew him away with the flattery of her lips.
Elle l'égare par ce flux de paroles; elle l'entraîne, avec le filet de ses lèvres.
22 Immediately he followeth her as an ox led to be a victim, and as a lamb playing the wanton, and not knowing that he is drawn like a fool to bonds,
Et lui la suit, sottement dupé, comme le bœuf se laisse conduire à la boucherie, et le chien à la chaîne,
23 Till the arrow pierce his liver: as if a bird should make haste to the snare, and knoweth not that his life is in danger.
ou comme la biche frappée d'un trait au foie; il se hâte comme un oiseau attiré au piège, ne sachant pas qu'il court à la perte de son âme.
24 Now therefore, my son, hear me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
Maintenant donc, ô mon fils, écoute-moi, et sois attentif aux paroles de ma bouche.
25 Let not thy mind be drawn away in her ways: neither be thou deceived with her paths.
Garde-toi de laisser ton cœur s'égarer dans ses voies;
26 For she hath cast down many wounded, and the strongest have been slain by her.
car elle en a blessé et abattu beaucoup, et ceux qu'elle a tués sont innombrables.
