< Proverbs 31 >
1 The words of king Lamuel. The vision wherewith his mother instructed him.
Ĩno nĩyo mĩario ya Mũthamaki Lemueli: nĩ ndũmĩrĩri nditũ ĩrĩa aarutirwo nĩ nyina:
2 What, O my beloved, what, O the beloved of my womb, what, O the beloved of my vows?
“Atĩrĩrĩ, wee mũrũ wakwa, ngũkwĩra atĩa, o wee mwana wa nda yakwa, ngũkwĩra atĩa o wee mwana wa mĩĩhĩtwa yakwa,
3 Give not thy substance to women, and thy riches to destroy kings.
atĩrĩ, ndũkanaitange hinya waku na andũ-a-nja, kana ũhe ũhoti waku acio manangaga athamaki.
4 Give not to kings, O Lamuel, give not wine to kings: because there is no secret where drunkenness reigneth:
“Atĩrĩrĩ, wee Lemueli, athamaki matiagĩrĩirwo nĩkũnyua ndibei, ti mũtugo wa athamaki kũnyua ndibei, anene matiagĩrĩirwo nĩ kwĩrirĩria njoohi,
5 And lest they drink and forget judgments, and pervert the cause of the children of the poor.
nĩgeetha matikanyue mariganĩrwo nĩ ũrĩa watho uugaga, nao magithie arĩa othe ahinyĩrĩrie kĩhooto kĩao.
6 Give strong drink to them that are sad: and wine to them that are grieved in mind:
Heaga arĩa marathira njoohi, na ndibei kũrĩ arĩa marĩ na ruo rũnene rwa ngoro;
7 Let them drink, and forget their want, and remember their sorrow no more.
reke manyue mariganĩrwo nĩ ũthĩĩni wao, na matige gũcooka kũririkana kĩeha kĩao.
8 Open thy mouth for the dumb, and for the causes of all the children that pass.
“Arĩrĩria arĩa matangĩhota kwĩyarĩrĩria, warĩrĩrie kĩhooto kĩa arĩa othe anyamaarĩku.
9 Open thy mouth, decree that which is just, and do justice to the needy and poor.
Maarĩrĩrie, na ũmatuĩre ciira na kĩhooto; rũĩrĩra kĩhooto kĩa arĩa athĩĩni na arĩa abatari.”
10 Who shall find a valiant woman? far and from the uttermost coasts is the price of her.
Mũtumia ngatha-rĩ, angĩoneka kũ? Nĩgũkorwo thogora wake nĩũkĩrĩte mũno ũrĩa wa ruru iria ndune.
11 The heart of her husband trusteth in her, and he shall have no need of spoils.
Mũthuuri wake nĩamwĩhokete biũ, na ndarĩ kĩndũ kĩa bata angĩaga.
12 She will render him good, and not evil, all the days of her life.
Mũtumia ũcio, matukũ mothe ma muoyo wake, no maũndũ mega ekaga mũthuuriwe, na ndangĩmwĩka ũũru.
13 She hath sought wool and flax, and hath wrought by the counsel of her hands.
Ethaga guoya wa ngʼondu na ndigi cia ũguta, agacirutĩra wĩra na kĩyo, na moko make.
14 She is like the merchant’s ship, she bringeth her bread from afar.
Ahaana ta marikabu cia wonjoria, tondũ athũgũraga irio ciake kuuma kũraya.
15 And she hath risen in the night, and given a prey to her household, and victuals to her maidens.
Okĩraga rũciinĩ kũrĩ o na nduma; akahe andũ a nyũmba yake irio, na akagaĩra ndungata ciake cia airĩtu mawĩra mao.
16 She hath considered a field, and bought it: with the fruit of her hands she hath planted a vineyard.
Ecũũranagia ũhoro wa mũgũnda mũna, akaũgũra; kuumana na ũthũkũmi wake, ahaandaga mũgũnda wa mĩthabibũ.
17 She hath girded her loins with strength, and hath strengthened her arm.
Ehotoragĩra wĩra wake erutanĩirie; moko make marĩ hinya wa kwĩrutĩra wĩra.
18 She hath tasted and seen that her traffic is good: her lamp shall not be put out in the night.
Nĩatigagĩrĩra atĩ wonjoria wake nĩũrĩ na uumithio, naguo tawa wake ũraaraga ũgĩakana.
19 She hath put out her hand to strong things, and her fingers have taken hold of the spindle.
Anyiitaga mũtĩ wa kuogotha ndigi na guoko, nakĩo gĩcũni kĩa ndigi agakĩnyiitĩrĩra na ciara ciake.
20 She hath opened her hand to the needy, and stretched out her hands to the poor.
Nĩataanahagĩra andũ arĩa athĩĩni, nao arĩa abatari akamatambũrũkĩria moko make.
21 She shall not fear for her house in the cold of snow: for all her domestics are clothed with double garments.
Rĩrĩa tharunji yagũa-rĩ, we ndamakaga atĩ nĩĩgũthĩĩnia andũ a nyũmba yake; nĩgũkorwo othe nĩahumbe nguo cia rangi mũtune.
22 She hath made for herself clothing of tapestry: fine linen, and purple is her covering.
Nĩatumaga indo cia kwara ũrĩrĩ wake; nake ehumbaga nguo cia gatani ĩrĩa njega, na cia rangi wa ndathi.
23 Her husband is honourable in the gates, when he sitteth among the senators of the land.
Mũthuuri wake nĩaheagwo gĩtĩĩo kĩhingo-inĩ gĩa itũũra inene, harĩa aikaraga marĩ na athuuri a bũrũri.
24 She made fine linen, and sold it, and delivered a girdle to the Chanaanite.
Mũtumia ũcio nĩatumaga nguo cia gatani agaciendia, na agatwaragĩra onjoria mĩcibi.
25 Strength and beauty are her clothing, and she shall laugh in the latter day.
Hinya na ũtĩĩku nĩcio nguo iria ehumbaga; nĩakenaga ategwĩtigĩra matukũ marĩa magooka.
26 She hath opened her mouth to wisdom, and the law of clemency is on her tongue.
Aaragia ciugo cia ũũgĩ, naruo rũrĩmĩ rwake rũrutanaga maũndũ ma ũtugi.
27 She hath looked well to the paths of her house, and hath not eaten her bread idle.
Nĩarũmbũyagia maũndũ ma nyũmba yake, na ndarĩĩaga irio atanogeire.
28 Her children rose up, and called her blessed: her husband, and he praised her.
Ciana ciake ciarahũkaga, cikoiga arorathimwo; o nake mũthuuri wake nĩamũgaathagĩrĩria, akamwĩra atĩrĩ:
29 Many daughters have gathered together riches: thou hast surpassed them all.
“Andũ-a-nja aingĩ manatuĩka ngatha, no wee nĩũmakĩrĩte othe.”
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: the woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Ngoga nĩ cia kũheenania, naguo ũthaka nĩ wa tũhũ; no mũtumia ũrĩa mwĩtigĩri Jehova nĩ wa kũgaathĩrĩrio.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands: and let her works praise her in the gates.
Mũrĩhei mũcaara wa wĩra ũrĩa arutĩte, naguo wĩra wake ũrekwo ũmũgaathĩrĩrie kĩhingo-inĩ gĩa itũũra rĩrĩa inene.
