Proverbs 2
1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and wilt hide my commandments with thee,
Yaa ilma ko, yoo ati dubbii koo fudhattee ajaja koos of keessatti kuufatte,
2 That thy ear may hearken to wisdom: Incline thy heart to know prudence:
yoo ati gurra kee ogummaatti garagalfattee yaada kee hubannaatti deebifatte,
3 For if thou shalt call for wisdom, and incline thy heart to prudence:
yoo ati jabaattee qalbeeffannaa barbaaddee hubannaa argachuuf jettee iyyitee kadhatte,
4 If thou shalt seek her as money, and shalt dig for her as for a treasure:
yoo ati akkuma meetiitti isa barbaaddattee akkuma qabeenya dhokfameetti isa barbaadde,
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and shalt find the knowledge of God.
ati Waaqayyoon sodaachuu ni hubatta; Waaqa beekuus ni argatta.
6 Because the Lord giveth wisdom: and out of his mouth cometh prudence and knowledge.
Waaqayyo ogummaa namaa kennaatii; afaan isaa keessaa illee beekumsaa fi hubannaatu baʼa.
7 He will keep the salvation of the righteous, and protect them that walk in simplicity.
Inni qajeeltotaaf ogummaa dhugaa kuusa; warra adeemsi isaanii mudaa hin qabneef gaachana;
8 Keeping the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of saints.
inni daandii tolootaa ni eega; karaa qulqulloota isaa illee ni tiksa.
9 Then shalt thou understand justice, and judgment, and equity, and every good path.
Ergasii ati qajeelummaa fi murtii qajeelaa, nama wal qixxeessuu, karaa qajeelaa hundas ni hubatta.
10 If wisdom shall enter into thy heart, and knowledge please thy soul:
Ogummaan garaa kee seena; beekumsis lubbuu kee gammachiisa.
11 Counsel shall keep thee, and prudence shall preserve thee,
Qalbeeffannaan si eega; hubannaanis si tiksa.
12 That thou mayst be delivered from the evil way, and from the man that speaketh perverse things:
Ogummaan karaa hamootaa irraa, namoota daba dubbatan jalaas si baraara;
13 Who leave the right way, and walk by dark ways:
warra karaa dukkanaa irra deemuudhaaf jedhanii daandii qajeelaa dhiisan,
14 Who are glad when they have done evil, and rejoice in most wicked things:
warra waan hamaa hojjechuutti gammadan, warra jalʼina hojjechuun itti tolu,
15 Whose ways are perverse, and their steps infamous.
warra daandiin isaanii jalʼate, warra karaan isaanii dabe jalaa si baraara.
16 That thou mayst be delivered from the strange women, and from the stranger, who softeneth her words:
Ogummaatu dubartii ganda labee, niitii dubbiidhaan sossobdee ofitti nama harkiftu jalaa si baraara;
17 And forsaketh the guide of her youth,
niitii dhirsa ishee kan jalqabaa dhiiftee kakuu fuula Waaqaa duratti galte sana dagatte jalaa si baraara.
18 And hath forgotten the covenant of her God: for her house inclineth unto death, and her paths to hell. (questioned)
Manni ishee gara duʼaatti, karaan ishee immoo gara hafuurota warra duʼaniitti nama geessaatii.
19 None that go in unto her shall return again, neither shall they take hold of the paths of life,
Namni gara ishee dhaqu tokko iyyuu hin deebiʼu yookaan karaa jireenyaa hin argatu.
20 That thou mayst walk in a good way: and mayst keep the paths of the just.
Kanaafuu ati karaa namoota gaggaarii irra ni deemta; daandii qajeeltotaa irraas hin jalʼattu.
21 For they that are upright shall dwell in the earth, and the simple shall continue in it.
Toloonni biyyattii keessa ni jiraatuutii; warri mudaa hin qabnes achi keessa jiraatu;
22 But the wicked shall be destroyed from the earth: and they that do unjustly shall be taken away from it.
hamoonni garuu biyyattii keessaa ni balleeffamu; warri hin amanamnes ishee keessaa buqqifamu.
