< Proverbs 19 >

1 Better is the poor man, that walketh in his simplicity, than a rich man that is perverse in his lips, and unwise.
Ọ ka mma ịbụ ogbenye onye kwesiri ntụkwasị obi karịa ịbụ onye nzuzu na-ekwu okwu ụgha mgbe niile.
2 Where there is no knowledge of the soul, there is no good: and he that is hasty with his feet shall stumble.
Arịrịọ nke na-enweghị ihe ọmụma adịghị mma otu a kwa onye ụkwụ ya na-eme ngwa na-ejehie ụzọ.
3 The folly of a man supplanteth his seeps: and he fretteth in his mind against God.
Enweghị uche nke mmadụ na-eduba ha nʼọghọm, ma obi ha na-ewe iwe dị ukwuu megide Onyenwe anyị.
4 Riches make many friends: but from the poor man, even they whom he had, depart.
Onye nwere ego na-enwe ọtụtụ ndị enyi, ma ọ na-ara ahụ ka ndị enyi onye ogbenye nọgide.
5 A false witness shall not be unpunished: and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
Onye na-agba ama ụgha ga-ata ahụhụ, ụzọ onye na-ekupụ ụgha dịka ume ka a ga-achọpụtakwa.
6 Many honour the person of him that is mighty, and are friends of him that giveth gifts.
Ọtụtụ mmadụ na-achọ ihuọma nʼebe onye na-achị achị nọ, otu a kwa, mmadụ niile na-agbalị ịbụ enyi onye na-agbasa aka ya na-enye onyinye.
7 The brethren of the poor man hate him: moreover also his friends have departed far from him. He that followeth after words only, shall have nothing.
Ebe ọ bụ na ụmụnne onye ogbenye na-akpọ ya asị, gịnịkwa ka ndị enyi ya ga-eme? Mgbalị ya niile ịrịọ ha arịrịọ ezughị ime ka ha nọgide.
8 But he that possesseth a mind, loveth his own soul, and he that keepeth prudence shall find good things.
Onye na-enweta amamihe hụrụ ndụ nʼanya, onye na-edebekwa nghọta na-enweta ọganihu.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished: and he that speaketh lies, shall perish.
Onyeama ụgha aghaghị ịta ahụhụ, onye ọbụla na-ekwupụ okwu ụgha dịka mmiri ga-ala nʼiyi.
10 Delicacies are not seemly for a fool: nor for a servant to have rule over princes.
Onye nzuzu ekwesighị ibi dịka ọgaranya; ohu ekwesịkwaghị ịchị ụmụ eze.
11 The learning of a man is known by patience and his glory is to pass over wrongs.
Ezi uche mmadụ nwere na-amụpụta ndidi; ọ bụkwa nkwanye ugwu nye onye nʼadịghị agụ mkparị a na-akparị ya.
12 As the roaring of a lion, so also is the anger of a king: and his cheerfulness as the dew upon the grass.
Iwe eze dị ka mbigbọ nke ọdụm. Ma obi ụtọ ya dị ka igirigi nʼelu ahịhịa ndụ.
13 A foolish son is the grief of his father: and a wrangling wife is like a roof continually dropping through.
Nwa nzuzu bụ ịla nʼiyi nke nna, nwunye na-ese okwu dị ka mmiri ọtụtụ na-atụ kpọm, kpọm, mgbe niile nʼelu ụlọ puru epu.
14 House and riches are given by parents: but a prudent wife is properly from the Lord.
Ụlọ dị iche iche na akụ bụ ihe nketa a na-anata nʼaka ndị nne na nna, ma nwunye nwere uche na nghọta na-esite naanị nʼaka Onyenwe anyị.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep, and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
Umengwụ na-akpata oke ịrahụ ụra, onye ọfọ ogori ka agụụ na-agụ.
16 He that keepeth the commandment, keepeth his own soul: but he that neglecteth his own way, shall die.
Onye na-edebe iwu Chineke na-enweta ndụ, ma onye na-akpọ ya asị na-anwụ.
17 He that hath mercy on the poor, lendeth to the Lord: and he will repay him.
Onye ọbụla na-egosi ndị ogbenye obi ebere na-ebinye Onyenwe anyị ihe, ọ ga-akwụghachi ha nʼihi ihe ọma ha mere.
18 Chastise thy son, despair not: but to the killing of him set not thy soul.
Dọọ nwa gị aka na ntị mgbe ọ ka dị na nwantakịrị nʼihi na oge ahụ ka olileanya dị. Ma i meghị otu a, ọ bụ ndụ ya ka ị na-emebi.
19 He that is impatient, shall suffer damage: and when he shall take away he shall add another thing.
Onye oke iwe ga-anata nra so ya, nʼihi na ọ bụrụ na ị napụta ya, ị ga-anapụtakwa ya ọzọ.
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayst be wise in thy latter end.
Gee ntị na ndụmọdụ a na-enye gị, nabata ịdọ aka na ntị. Nʼikpeazụ, ị ga-abụ onye maara ihe.
21 There are many thoughts in the heart of a man: but the will of the Lord shall stand firm.
Ọtụtụ atụmatụ dị nʼobi mmadụ; maọbụ uche Onyenwe anyị ga-emezu.
22 A needy man is merciful: and better is the poor than the lying man.
Obi ebere mmadụ na-eme ka a na-achọsi ya ike. Ọ ka mma ịbụ ogbenye karịa ịbụ mmadụ nke eziokwu ọbụla na-adịghị nʼọnụ ya.
23 The fear of the Lord is unto life: and he shall abide in fulness without being visited with evil.
Ịtụ egwu Onyenwe anyị na-eweta ndụ na ọṅụ, na nchebe site nʼihe mmerụ ahụ.
24 The slothful hideth his hand under his armpit, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth.
Onye umengwụ na-amanye aka nʼefere nri, ọ gaghị eweghachi ya ọ bụladị tinye nʼọnụ ya.
25 The wicked man being; scourged, the fool shall be wiser: but if thou rebuke a wise man he will understand discipline.
Tie onye na-akwa emo ihe, onye na-enweghị uche ga-aghọ onye nwere ezi uche, baara onye nwere nghọta mba, ha ga-enweta ihe ọmụma.
26 He that afflicteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is infamous and unhappy.
Ọ bụ nwa ahụ na-eweta ihere ga-ezu nne na nna ya ohi, maọbụ chụpụ ha site nʼụlọ ya.
27 Cease not, O my son, to hear instruction, and be not ignorant of the words of knowledge.
Nwa m ọ bụrụ na ị hapụ ige ntị na ntụziaka m, ị ga-esi nʼokwu ihe ọmụma kpafuo.
28 An unjust witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
Onyeama ụgha na-akwa ikpe ziri ezi emo. Ọnụ nke onye ajọ omume na-eloda ajọ ihe.
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners: and striking hammers for the bodies of fools.
Ndị na-akwa emo na ndị nzuzu ga-ata ahụhụ; a ga-etikwa ha ihe.
