< Numbers 30 >
1 And he said to the princes of the tribes of the children of Israel: This is the word that the Lord hath commanded:
Pea naʻe lea ʻa Mōsese ki he houʻeiki ʻoe ngaahi faʻahinga ki he fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, ʻo pehē, Ko e meʻa eni kuo fekau ʻe Sihova.
2 If any man make a vow to the Lord, or bind himself by an oath: he shall not make his word void but shall fulfill all that he promised.
Kapau ʻe fuakava ʻaki ʻe ha tangata ʻae fuakava kia Sihova, pe fuakava ʻaki ʻae fuakava ke nonoʻo hono laumālie ʻaki ʻae lea papau; ʻe ʻikai te ne fakakehe ʻene lea, ka ʻe fai ia ʻo fakatatau mo ia kotoa pē ʻoku ʻalu ʻi hono ngutu.
3 If a woman vow any thing, and bind herself by an oath, being in her father’s house, and but yet a girl in age: if her father knew the vow that she hath promised, and the oath wherewith she hath bound her soul, and held his peace, she shall be bound by the vow:
Kapau ʻe fuakava ʻaki foki ʻe ha fefine ʻae fuakava kia Sihova, ʻo ne nonoʻo ʻaki ia ʻae lea papau, ka ʻoku kei ʻi he fale ʻo ʻene tamai, pea kei tāupoʻou ia.
4 Whatsoever she promised and swore, she shall fulfill in deed.
Pea fanongo ʻa ʻene tamai ki heʻene fuakava, mo ʻene lea papau ʻaia ʻoku ne nonoʻo ʻaki hono laumālie, pea fakalongo pē ʻa ʻene tamai kiate ia, ʻe toki maʻu ai ʻa ʻene ngaahi fuakava kotoa pē, pea maʻu ʻae lea papau kotoa pē ʻaia kuo ne nonoʻo ʻaki ia.
5 But if her father, immediately as soon as he heard it, gainsaid it, both her vows and her oaths shall be void, neither shall she be bound to what she promised, because her father hath gainsaid it.
Pea kapau ʻe taʻofi ia ʻe heʻene tamai ʻi he ʻaho ʻoku fanongo ai ia; pehē, ʻe ʻikai maʻu ʻene ngaahi fuakava, he ko ʻene ngaahi lea papau ʻaia naʻa ne nonoʻo ʻaki ʻa hono laumālie: pea ʻe fakamolemole ia ʻe Sihova, koeʻuhi kuo taʻofi ia ʻe heʻene tamai.
6 If she have a husband, and shall vow any thing, and the word once going out of her mouth shall bind her soul by an oath:
Pea kapau naʻe ai ʻa hono husepāniti, ʻi heʻene fuakava, pe [ko ʻene ]lea ʻaki ha meʻa mei hono loungutu, ke nonoʻo ʻaki hono laumālie;
7 The day that her husband shall hear it, and not gainsay it, she shall be bound to the vow, and shall give whatsoever she promised.
8 But if as soon as he heareth he gainsay it, and make her promises and the words wherewith she had bound her soul of no effect: the Lord will forgive her.
9 The widow, and she that is divorced, shall fulfill whatsoever they vow.
Ka ko e fuakava kotoa pē ʻae fefine paea, pea mo ia kuo tukuange, ʻaia kuo na nonoʻo ʻaki hona laumālie, ʻe maʻu ia kiate ia.
10 If the wife in the house of her husband, hath bound herself by vow and by oath,
Pea kapau naʻe fuakava ia ʻi he fale ʻo hono husepāniti, pe nonoʻo hono laumālie ʻaki ʻae lea papau mo e fuakava;
11 If her husband hear, and hold his peace, and doth not disallow the promise, she shall accomplish whatsoever she had promised.
Pea fanongo ki ai ʻa hono husepāniti, ka naʻe fakalongo ia kiate ia, pea naʻe ʻikai te ne taʻofi ia: pehē ʻe maʻu ai ʻa ʻene ngaahi fuakava kotoa pē, pea ʻe maʻu ai mo e lea papau ʻaia ne ne nonoʻo ʻaki ʻa hono laumālie.
12 But if forthwith he gainsay it, she shall not be bound by the promise: because her husband gainsaid it, and the Lord will be merciful to her.
Pea kapau naʻe fakataʻeaongaʻi ʻaupito ia ʻe hono husepāniti ʻi he ʻaho naʻe fanongo ia ki ai: pehē ʻe ʻikai maʻu ʻaia kuo ʻalu ʻi hono loungutu, ʻi heʻene ngaahi fuakava, pe ko e nonoʻo ʻo hono laumālie, he kuo fakataʻeaongaʻi ia ʻe hono husepāniti; pea ʻe fakamolemole ia ʻe Sihova.
13 If she vow and bind herself by oath, to afflict her soul by fasting, or abstinence from other things, it shall depend on the will of her husband, whether she shall do it, or not do it.
Ko e fuakava kotoa pē, pea mo e fuakava ʻi he lea papau kotoa pē ke fakamamahi ʻae loto, ʻoku ʻi hono husepāniti ke fakamaʻu ia, pea ʻoku ʻi hono husepāniti ke fakataʻeaongaʻi ia.
14 But if the husband hearing it hold his peace, and defer the declaring his mind till another day: whatsoever she had vowed and promised, she shall fulfill: because immediately as he heard it, he held his peace.
Pea kapau ʻe mātuʻaki fakalongo pē ʻa hono husepāniti mei he ʻaho ki he ʻaho; ʻoku ne fakamaʻu ai ʻa ʻene fuakava kotoa pē, mo ʻene ngaahi lea papau, ʻaia kuo ne fai: ʻoku ne fakamaʻu ia, koeʻuhi naʻe fakalongo pē ia kiate ia ʻi he ʻaho naʻe fanongo ia ki ai.
15 But if he gainsay it after that he knew it, he shall bear her iniquity.
Pea kapau te ne fakataʻeaongaʻi ia ʻi he hili ʻene fanongo ki ai; ʻe fua ʻe ia ʻa ʻene angahala.
16 These are the laws which the Lord appointed to Moses between the husband and the wife, between the father and the daughter that is as yet but a girl in age, or that abideth in her father’s house.
Ko e ngaahi fono eni naʻe fekau ʻe Sihova kia Mōsese, ki he tangata mo hono uaifi, pea mo e tamai mo hono ʻofefine ʻoku kei tāupoʻou ʻi he fale ʻo ʻene tamai.
