Numbers 20
1 And the children of Israel, and all the multitude came into the desert of Sin, in the first month: and the people abode in Cades. And Mary died there, and was buried in the same place.
Busa ang katawhan sa Israel, ang tibuok nga katilingban, miadto didto sa kamingawan sa Sin sa unang bulan; mipuyo sila sa Cades. Didto namatay si Miriam ug gilubong.
2 And the people wanting water, came together against Moses and Aaron:
Wala gayoy tubig alang sa katilingban, mao nga nagkatigom sila batok kang Moises ug kang Aaron.
3 And making a sedition, they said: Would God we had perished among our brethren before the Lord.
Mibagulbol ang katawhan batok kang Moises. Miingon sila, “Mas maayo pa unta nga nangamatay na lamang kami sa dihang ang atong mga kaubanan nga mga Israelita nangamatay sa atubangan ni Yahweh!
4 Why have you brought out the church of the Lord into the wilderness, that both we and our cattle should die?
Nganong gidala mo man ang katilingban ni Yahweh dinhi niining kamingawan aron mangamatay dinhi, kami ug ang among mga mananap?”
5 Why have you made us come up out of Egypt, and have brought us into this wretched place which cannot be sowed, nor bringeth forth figs, nor vines, nor pomegranates, neither is there any water to drink?
Ug nganong gipagawas mo man kami sa Ehipto aron sa pagdala kanamo niining makalilisang nga dapit? Walay binhi dinhi, mga igera, mga paras, o mga granada. Ug wala pa gayoy tubig nga mainom.”
6 And Moses and Aaron leaving the multitude, went into the tabernacle of the covenant, and fell flat upon the ground, and cried to the Lord, and said: O Lord God, hear the cry of this people, and open to them thy treasure, a fountain of living water, that being satisfied, they may cease to murmur. And the glory of the Lord appeared over them.
Busa mibiya si Moises ug si Aaron sa atubangan niadtong nagtigom. Miadto sila sa pultahan sa tolda nga tigomanan ug miyukbo. Mitungha didto ang kahayag sa himaya ni Yahweh ngadto kanila.
7 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
Misulti si Yahweh kang Moises ug miingon,
8 Take the rod, and assemble the people together, thou and Aaron thy brother, and speak to the rock before them, and it shall yield waters. And when thou hast brought forth water out of the rock, all the multitude and their cattle shall drink.
“Dad-a ang sungkod ug tigoma ang katilingban, ikaw, ug si Aaron nga imong igsoon. Sultihi ang bato sa atubangan nila, ug mandoi kini aron moagas ang tubig. Makahatag ka ug tubig alang kanila gikan niana nga bato, ug kinahanglan nga ihatag nimo kini ngadto sa katilingban ug sa ilang mga baka aron makainom.”
9 Moses therefore took the rod, which was before the Lord, as he had commanded him,
Gikuha ni Moises ang sungkod gikan sa atubangan ni Yahweh, sumala sa gisugo ni Yahweh kaniya nga iyang buhaton.
10 And having gathered together the multitude before the rock, he said to them: Hear, ye rebellious and incredulous: Can we bring you forth water out of this rock?
Unya gitigom ni Moises ug Aaron ang nagtigom nga katawhan sa atubangan sa bato. Miingon si Moises kanila, “Paminaw, kamong mga masinupakon. Kinahanglan ba nga maghatag kami ug tubig dinhi niini nga bato alang kaninyo?”
11 And when Moses had lifted up his hand, and struck the rock twice with the rod, there came forth water in great abundance, so that the people and their cattle drank,
Unya gibayaw ni Moises ang iyang kamot ug gibunal ang iyang sungkod sa bato sa makaduha nga higayon, ug daghan ang tubig nga miagas. Nanginom ang katilingban, ug ang ilang mga baka nanginom usab.
12 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron: Because you have not believed me, to sanctify me before the children of Israel, you shall not bring these people into the land, which I will give them.
Unya miingon si Yahweh ngadto kang Moises ug kang Aaron, “Tungod kay wala man kamo misalig kanako o nagtahod kanako ingon nga balaan ngadto sa mga mata sa katawhan sa Israel, dili ninyo madala kining mga nagtigom nga mga katawhan ngadto sa yuta nga akong ihatag kanila.”
13 This is the Water of contradiction, where the children of Israel strove with words against the Lord, and he was sanctified in them.
Gitawag kini nga dapit nga katubigan sa Meriba tungod kay nakiglalis ang mga katawhan sa Israel kang Yahweh didto, ug gipakita niya ang iyang kaugalingon ngadto kanila ingon nga balaan.
14 In the mean time Moses sent messengers from Cades to the king of Edom, to say: Thus saith thy brother Israel: Thou knowest all the labour that hath come upon us:
Nagpadala si Moises ug mga mensahero gikan sa Cades ngadto sa hari sa Edomea: Ang imong igsoon nga si Israel ang nag-ingon niini: “Nasayod ka sa tanang kalisdanan nga nahitabo kanamo.
15 In what manner our fathers went down into Egypt, and there we dwelt a long time, and the Egyptians afflicted us and our fathers.
Nasayod ka nga ang among mga katigulangan milugsong sa Ehipto ug mipuyo sa Ehipto sa dugay nga panahon. Gidaog-daog kami sa mga Ehiptohanon ug ang among mga katigulangan usab.
16 And how we cried to the Lord, and he heard us, and sent an angel, who hath brought us out of Egypt. Lo, we are now in the city of Cades, which is in the uttermost of thy borders,
Sa dihang mitawag kami kang Yahweh, nadungog niya ang among tingog ug nagpadala sa anghel ug nagpagawas kanamo gikan sa Ehipto. Tan-awa, ania kami sa Cades, ang siyudad nga utlanan sa imong yuta.
17 And we beseech thee that we may have leave to pass through thy country. We will not go through the fields, nor through the vineyards, we will not drink the waters of thy wells, but we will go by the common highway, neither turning aside to the right hand, nor to the left, till we are past thy borders.
Naghangyo ako kanimo nga paagion nimo kami sa imong yuta. Dili kami moagi sa uma o sa parasan, ni moinom kami ug tubig sa imong mga atabay. Mosubay kami sa dakong dalan sa hari. Dili kami moliko sa tuong bahin o sa walang bahin hangtod nga makalatas na kami sa imong utlanan.”
18 And Edom answered them: Thou shalt not pass by me: if thou dost I will come out armed against thee.
Apan mitubag ang hari sa Edomea kaniya, “Dili ka makaagi dinhi. Kay kung buhaton nimo kana, moadto ako nga magdala ug espada aron sa paghasmag kanimo.”
19 And the children of Israel said: We will go by the beaten way: and if we and our cattle drink of thy waters, we will give thee what is just: there shall be no difficulty in the price, only let us pass speedily.
Unya miingon ang katawhan sa Israel kaniya, “Mosubay kami sa dakong dalan. Kung makainom kami o ang among mga mananap sa inyong tubig, mobayad kami niini. Tugoti lamang kami sa paglakaw pinaagi sa tiil, nga walay laing buhaton.”
20 But he answered: Thou shalt not pass. And immediately he came forth to meet them with an infinite multitude, and a strong hand,
Apan mitubag ang hari sa Edomea, “Dili kamo makahimong molatas. “Busa miadto ang hari sa Edomea nga nakigbatok sa Israel uban ang kusgan nga kamot ug ang daghang kasundalohan.
21 Neither would he condescend to their desire to grant them passage through his borders. Wherefore Israel turned another way from him.
Mibalibad ang hari sa Edomea sa pagtugot sa Israel sa paglabang sa ilang utlanan. Tungod niini, mibiya ang Israel gikan sa yuta sa Edomea.
22 And when they had removed the camp from Cades, they came to mount Her, which is in the borders of the land of Edom:
Mao nga mipanaw ang katawhan gikan sa Cades. Ang katawhan sa Israel, ang tibuok katilingban, miadto sa Bukid sa Hor.
23 Where the Lord spoke to Moses:
Misulti si Yahweh kang Moises ug kang Aaron ngadto sa Bukid sa Hor, sa utlanan sa Edomea. Miingon siya,
24 Let Aaron, saith he, go to his people: for he shall not go into the land which I have given the children of Israel, because he was incredulous to my words, at the waters of contradiction.
“Kinahanglan nga paiponon si Aaron ngadto sa iyang katawhan, tungod kay dili siya makasulod sa yuta nga akong ihatag ngadto sa katawhan sa Israel. Tungod kini kay nagsupak kamong duha batok sa akong pulong didto sa katubigan sa Meriba.
25 Take Aaron and his son with him, and bring them up into mount Hor:
Kuhaa si Aaron ug si Eleazar nga iyang anak, ug dad-a sila patungas ngadto sa Bukid sa Hor.
26 And when thou hast stripped the father of his vesture, thou shalt vest therewith Eleazar his son: Aaron shall be gathered to his people, and die there.
Huboa ang parianon nga bisti ni Aaron ug ipasul-ob kini ngadto kang Eleazar nga iyang anak. Kinahanglang mamatay si Aaron ug paiponon sa iyang katawhan didto.”
27 Moses did as the Lord had commanded: and they went up into mount Hor before all the multitude.
Gibuhat ni Moises ang gisugo ni Yahweh. Mitungas sila sa Bukid sa Hor sa panan-aw sa tanang katilingban.
28 And when he had stripped Aaron of his vestments, he vested Eleazar his son with them. And Aaron being dead in the top of the mountain, he came down with Eleazar.
Gihubo ni Moises ang parianon nga mga bisti ni Aaron ug gipasul-ob kini ngadto kang Eleazar nga iyang anak. Namatay si Aaron didto sa tumoy sa bukid. Unya milugsong si Moises ug si Eleazar.
29 And all the multitude seeing that Aaron was dead, mourned for him thirty days throughout all their families.
Sa dihang nakita sa mga katilingban nga patay na si Aaron, mihilak ang tibuok nasod alang kang Aaron sulod sa 30 ka adlaw.
