Matthew 8
1 And when he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him:
Jesus stieg vom Berge herab, und große Scharen folgten ihm.
2 And behold a leper came and adored him, saying: Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Und siehe, ein Aussätziger kam heran und warf sich vor ihm nieder mit den Worten: "Herr! Wenn du willst, kannst du mich rein machen."
3 And Jesus stretching forth his hand, touched him, saying: I will, be thou made clean. And forthwith his leprosy was cleansed.
Da streckte er die Hand aus, berührte ihn und sprach: "Ich will, sei rein!" Sofort war er von seinem Aussatze rein.
4 And Jesus saith to him: See thou tell no man: but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses commanded for a testimony unto them.
Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Sag es ja niemand! Geh vielmehr hin, zeig dich dem Priester und opfere die Gabe, die Moses vorgeschrieben hat; sie mögen dies zum Zeugnis nehmen."
5 And when he had entered into Capharnaum, there came to him a centurion, beseeching him,
Dann ging er nach Kapharnaum hinein. Da trat ein Hauptmann zu ihm
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, and is grieviously tormented.
mit der Bitte: "Herr, mein Knecht liegt gelähmt zu Hause, er leidet fürchterliche Schmerzen."
7 And Jesus saith to him: I will come and heal him.
Und Jesu sprach zu ihm: "Ich gehe hin und heile ihn."
8 And the centurion making answer, said: Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof: but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed.
Darauf erwiderte der Hauptmann: "Herr, ich bin nicht würdig, daß du eingehst unter mein Dach. Doch sprich nur ein Wort, so wird mein Knecht gesund.
9 For I also am a man subject to authority, having under me soldiers; and I say to this, Go, and he goeth, and to another, Come, and he cometh, and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
Denn auch ich bin ein Untergebener, habe Soldaten unter mir. Wenn ich zu dem da sage: 'Geh!' dann geht er; zu einem anderen: 'Komm!' dann kommt er; und zu meinem Knechte: 'Tu dies!' dann tut er es."
10 And Jesus hearing this, marvelled; and said to them that followed him: Amen I say to you, I have not found so great faith in Israel.
Als Jesus dies hörte, mußte er sich wundern und sprach zu denen, die ihm folgten: "Wahrlich, ich sage euch, solch einen Glauben habe ich bei niemand in Israel gefunden.
11 And I say to you that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven:
Doch sage ich euch: Viele werden von Osten und von Westen kommen und mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob im Himmelreich zu Tische sitzen;
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into the exterior darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Die Kinder des Reiches aber werden hinausgeworfen in die Finsternis draußen. Dort wird Heulen und Zähneknirschen sein."
13 And Jesus said to the centurion: Go, and as thou hast believed, so be it done to thee. And the servant was healed at the same hour.
Und zu dem Hauptmann sprach Jesus: "Geh hin! Wie du geglaubt hast, soll dir geschehen." Und in derselben Stunde war der Knecht gesund.
14 And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying, and sick of a fever:
Dann kehrte Jesus im Hause des Petrus ein. Dort sah er dessen Schwiegermutter fieberkrank darniederliegen.
15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose and ministered to them.
Er nahm sie bei der Hand, und das Fieber wich von ihr. Sie stand auf und diente ihm.
16 And when evening was come, they brought to him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word: and all that were sick he healed:
Als es Abend geworden war, brachte man viele Besessene zu ihm. Mit einem Worte trieb er die Geister aus und heilte alle Kranken.
17 That it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the prophet Isaias, saying: He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases.
So sollte sich erfüllen, was der Prophet Isaias gesprochen hat, wenn er sagt: "Er selbst nimmt unsere Schwachheiten auf sich, und er trägt die Krankheiten".
18 And Jesus seeing great multitudes about him, gave orders to pass over the water.
Da Jesus eine Menge Volkes um sich sah, befahl er, an das andere Ufer wegzufahren.
19 And a certain scribe came and said to him: Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou shalt go.
Da trat ein Schriftgelehrter vor und sprach zu ihm: "Meister, ich will dir folgen, wohin du auch gehst."
20 And Jesus saith to him: The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests: but the son of man hath not where to lay his head.
Doch Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Die Füchse haben Höhlen, die Vögel des Himmels Nester; der Menschensohn jedoch hat keine Stätte, wohin er sein Haupt legen könnte."
21 And another of his disciples said to him: Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Ein andrer seiner Jünger sprach zu ihm: "Laß, Herr, mich zuvor nochmals gehen, um meinen Vater zu begraben."
22 But Jesus said to him: Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead.
Doch Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Folge mir; und laß die Toten ihre Toten begraben."
23 And when he entered into the boat, his disciples followed him:
Er stieg in ein Boot, und seine Jünger folgten ihm.
24 And behold a great tempest arose in the sea, so that the boat was covered with waves, but he was asleep.
Und siehe, ein gewaltiger Sturm erhob sich auf dem Meere, so daß das Boot von den Wellen überflutet ward. Er aber schlief.
25 And they came to him, and awaked him, saying: Lord, save us, we perish.
Da traten sie heran, weckten ihn und riefen: "Herr! Hilf! Wir sind verloren."
26 And Jesus saith to them: Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith? Then rising up he commanded the winds, and the sea, and there came a great calm.
Er aber sprach zu ihnen: "Was seid ihr denn so furchtsam, ihr Kleingläubigen?" Alsdann erhob er sich, gebot den Winden und dem Meere, und es ward ganz still.
27 But the men wondered, saying: What manner of man is this, for the winds and the sea obey him?
Da sprachen die Menschen voll Verwunderung: "Wer ist doch dieser, daß ihm sogar die Winde und das Meer gehorchen?"
28 And when he was come on the other side of the water, into the country of the Gerasens, there met him two that were possessed with devils, coming out of the sepulchres, exceeding fierce, so that none could pass by that way.
Er kam ans andere Ufer in das Land der Gadarener. Da liefen zwei Besessene ihm in den Weg; sie kamen aus den Gräbern und waren sehr bösartig, so daß es niemand wagen durfte, jenen Weg zu gehen.
29 And behold they cried out, saying: What have we to do with thee, Jesus Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
Sie schrien laut und sprachen: "Was willst du von uns, Sohn Gottes? Bist du hierhergekommen, uns vor der Zeit zu quälen?"
30 And there was, not far from them, an herd of many swine feeding.
Etwas entfernt von ihnen war eine große Schweineherde auf der Weide.
31 And the devils besought him, saying: If thou cast us out hence, send us into the herd of swine.
Da baten ihn die Dämonen und sprachen: "Wenn du uns austreibst, so schicke uns in die Schweineherde."
32 And he said to them: Go. But they going out went into the swine, and behold the whole herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea: and they perished in the waters.
Er sprach zu ihnen: "Fahret hin!" Sie fuhren aus und in die Schweine hinein, und siehe, die ganze Herde raste am Abhang hin ins Meer hinein; dort kamen sie im Wasser um.
33 And they that kept them fled: and coming into the city, told every thing, and concerning them that had been possessed by the devils.
Die Hirten flohen und erzählten alles in der Stadt, auch den Vorfall mit den Besessenen.
34 And behold the whole city went out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart from their coasts.
Siehe, da zog die ganze Stadt hinaus, Jesus entgegen. Und als sie ihn erblickten, baten sie ihn dringend, er möchte sich aus ihrem Gebiet entfernen.
