Matthew 6
1 Take heed that you do not your justice before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you shall not have a reward of your Father who is in heaven.
“Tened cuidado de no hacer vuestras obras de caridad delante de los hombres, para ser vistos por ellos, pues de lo contrario no tendréis recompensa de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.
2 Therefore when thou dost an almsdeed, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be honoured by men. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.
Por eso, cuando hagas obras de caridad, no hagas sonar la trompeta delante de ti, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y en las calles, para obtener la gloria de los hombres. Ciertamente os digo que ya han recibido su recompensa.
3 But when thou dost alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth.
Pero cuando hagas obras de misericordia, no dejes que tu mano izquierda sepa lo que hace tu mano derecha,
4 That thy alms may be in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee.
para que tus obras de misericordia estén en secreto, entonces tu Padre que ve en secreto te recompensará abiertamente.
5 And when ye pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, that love to stand and pray in the synagogues and corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men: Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.
“Cuando ores, no seas como los hipócritas, pues les gusta estar de pie y orar en las sinagogas y en las esquinas de las calles, para ser vistos por los hombres. Ciertamente, os digo que han recibido su recompensa.
6 But thou when thou shalt pray, enter into thy chamber, and having shut the door, pray to thy Father in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee.
Pero tú, cuando ores, entra en tu cuarto interior, y habiendo cerrado la puerta, ora a tu Padre que está en secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en secreto, te recompensará abiertamente.
7 And when you are praying, speak not much, as the heathens. For they think that in their much speaking they may be heard.
Al orar, no utilicéis vanas repeticiones, como hacen los gentiles, pues piensan que serán escuchados por su mucho hablar.
8 Be not you therefore like to them, for your Father knoweth what is needful for you, before you ask him.
No seáis, pues, como ellos, porque vuestro Padre sabe lo que necesitáis antes de que se lo pidáis.
9 Thus therefore shall you pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Orad así: “‘Padre nuestro que estás en el cielo, que tu nombre sea santificado’.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Que venga tu Reino. Que se haga tu voluntad en la tierra como en el cielo.
11 Give us this day our supersubstantial bread.
Danos hoy el pan de cada día.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
Perdona nuestras deudas, así como nosotros perdonamos a nuestros deudores.
13 And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.
No nos dejes caer en la tentación, pero líbranos del maligno. Porque tuyo es el Reino, el poder y la gloria por siempre. Amén.”
14 For if you will forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father will forgive you also your offences.
“Porque si perdonáis a los hombres sus ofensas, también vuestro Padre celestial os perdonará a vosotros.
15 But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offences.
Pero si no perdonáis a los hombres sus ofensas, tampoco vuestro Padre os perdonará vuestras ofensas.
16 And when you fast, be not as the hypocrites, sad. For they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.
“Además, cuando ayunéis, no seáis como los hipócritas, con rostros tristes. Porque ellos desfiguran sus rostros para que los hombres vean que están ayunando. Ciertamente os digo que han recibido su recompensa.
17 But thou, when thou fastest anoint thy head, and wash thy face;
Pero tú, cuando ayunes, unge tu cabeza y lava to cara,
18 That thou appear not to men to fast, but to thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret, will repay thee.
para que no te vean los hombres ayunando, sino tu Padre que está en secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en secreto, te recompensará.
19 Lay not up to yourselves treasures on earth: where the rust, and moth consume, and where thieves break through and steal.
“No os hagáis tesoros en la tierra, donde la polilla y el orín consumen, y donde los ladrones cuelan y roban;
20 But lay up to yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither the rust nor moth doth consume, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal.
sino haceos tesoros en el cielo, donde ni la polilla ni el orín consumen, y donde los ladrones no cuelan ni roban;
21 For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also.
porque donde esté vuestro tesoro, allí estará también vuestro corazón.
22 The light of thy body is thy eye. If thy eye be single, thy whole body shall be lightsome.
“La lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo. Por tanto, si tu ojo es sano, todo tu cuerpo estará lleno de luz.
23 But if thy eye be evil thy whole body shall be darksome. If then the light that is in thee, be darkness: the darkness itself how great shall it be!
Pero si tu ojo es malo, todo tu cuerpo estará lleno de tinieblas. Por tanto, si la luz que hay en ti es oscuridad, ¡qué grandes son las tinieblas!
24 No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
“Nadie puede servir a dos señores, porque o bien odiará a uno y amará al otro, o bien se dedicará a uno y despreciará al otro. No se puede servir a la vez a Dios y a Mammón.
25 Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment?
Por eso os digo que no os preocupéis por vuestra vida: qué vais a comer o qué vais a beber; ni tampoco por vuestro cuerpo, qué vais a vestir. ¿No es la vida más que el alimento, y el cuerpo más que el vestido?
26 Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they?
Mirad las aves del cielo, que no siembran, ni cosechan, ni recogen en graneros. Vuestro Padre celestial las alimenta. ¿No tienéis vosotros mucho más valor que ellas?
27 And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature by one cubit?
“¿Quién de vosotros, estando ansioso, puede añadir un momento a su vida?
28 And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin.
¿Por qué os preocupáis por la ropa? Considerad los lirios del campo, cómo crecen. No se afanan, ni hilan,
29 But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these.
pero os digo que ni siquiera Salomón, con toda su gloria, se vistió como uno de ellos.
30 And if the grass of the field, which is today, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith?
Pero si Dios viste así a la hierba del campo, que hoy existe y mañana es arrojada al horno, ¿no os vestirá mucho más a vosotros, hombres de poca fe?
31 Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed?
“Por tanto, no os preocupéis diciendo: “¿Qué comeremos?”, “¿Qué beberemos?” o “¿Con qué nos vestiremos?”
32 For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things.
Porque los gentiles buscan todas estas cosas; pues vuestro Padre celestial sabe que necesitáis todas estas cosas.
33 Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.
Pero buscad primero el Reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas se os darán también a vosotros.
34 Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.
Por tanto, no os preocupéis por el día de mañana, porque el día de mañana se preocupará por sí mismo. El mal de cada día es suficiente.
