Matthew 13
1 The same day Jesus going out of the house, sat by the sea side.
Ce jour-là, Jésus étant sorti de la maison, s’assit sur le bord de la mer.
2 And great multitudes were gathered unto him, so that he went up into a boat and sat: and all the multitude stood on the shore.
Et il s’assembla près de lui une grande foule, de sorte que, montant sur la barque, il s’assit, et la foule resta sur le rivage;
3 And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying: Behold the sower went forth to sow.
Et il leur annonça beaucoup de choses en paraboles, disant: Voilà que celui qui sème est sorti pour semer.
4 And whilst he soweth some fell by the way side, and the birds of the air came and ate them up.
Et, pendant qu’il semait, des grains tombèrent le long du chemin, et les oiseaux du ciel vinrent et les mangèrent.
5 And other some fell upon stony ground, where they had not much earth: and they sprung up immediately, because they had no deepness of earth.
D’autres tombèrent sur un terrain pierreux, où il n’y avait pas beaucoup de terre, et ils levèrent très vite, parce que la terre était peu profonde.
6 And when the sun was up they were scorched: and because they had not root, they withered away.
Mais le soleil s’étant levé, ils furent brûlés, et parce qu’ils n’avaient point de racine, ils se desséchèrent.
7 And others fell among thorns: and the thorns grew up and choked them.
D’autres tombèrent parmi les épines, et les épines crûrent et les étouffèrent.
8 And others fell upon good ground: and they brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold.
D’autres tombèrent dans une bonne terre et produisirent des fruits, l’un cent, l’autre soixante, l’autre trente.
9 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, entende.
10 And his disciples came and said to him: Why speakest thou to them in parables?
Et ses disciples s’approchant, lui dirent: Pourquoi leur parlez-vous en paraboles?
11 Who answered and said to them: Because to you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven: but to them it is not given.
Il leur répondit, en disant: Parce que, pour vous, il vous a été donné de connaître les mystères du royaume des cieux; mais, pour eux, il ne leur a pas été donné.
12 For he that hath, to him shall be given, and he shall abound: but he that hath not, from him shall be taken away that also which he hath.
Car celui qui a, on lui donnera, et il sera dans l’abondance; mais celui qui n’a pas, même ce qu’il a lui sera ôté.
13 Therefore do I speak to them in parables: because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
C’est pourquoi je leur parle en paraboles, parce que voyant, ils ne voient point, et qu’écoutant, ils n’entendent ni ne comprennent.
14 And the prophecy of Isaias is fulfilled in them, who saith: By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand: and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive.
Aussi, c’est en eux que s’accomplit la prophétie d’Isaïe, disant: Vous écouterez de vos oreilles, et vous ne comprendrez point; vous regarderez de vos yeux, et vous ne verrez point.
15 For the heart of this people is grown gross, and with their ears they have been dull of hearing, and their eyes they have shut: lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
Car le cœur de ce peuple s’est appesanti, et ses oreilles se sont endurcies, et ils ont fermé leurs yeux, de peur que leurs yeux ne voient, que leurs oreilles n’entendent, que leur cœur ne comprenne, et que, se convertissant, je ne les guérisse.
16 But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear.
Mais heureux vos yeux, parce qu’ils voient, et vos oreilles, parce qu’elles entendent.
17 For, amen, I say to you, many prophets and just men have desired to see the things that you see, and have not seen them, and to hear the things that you hear and have not heard them.
Car, en vérité, je vous dis que beaucoup de prophètes et de justes ont désiré voir ce que vous voyez, et ne l’ont pas vu; entendre ce que vous entendez, et ne l’ont point entendu.
18 Hear you therefore the parable of the sower.
Vous donc, entendez la parabole de celui qui sème.
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, there cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart: this is he that received the seed by the way side.
Quiconque entend la parole du royaume et ne la comprend pas, l’esprit malin vient et il enlève ce qui a été semé dans son cœur: tel est celui qui a reçu la semence le long du chemin.
20 And he that received the seed upon stony ground, is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy.
Celui qui a reçu la semence dans les endroits pierreux, c’est celui qui écoute la parole et la reçoit d’abord avec joie;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but is only for a time: and when there ariseth tribulation and persecution because of the word, he is presently scandalized.
Mais comme il n’a pas en lui de racine, il ne se maintient pas longtemps; car la tribulation et la persécution survenant à cause de la parole, il est aussitôt scandalisé.
22 And he that received the seed among thorns, is he that heareth the word, and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choketh up the word, and he becometh fruitless. (aiōn g165)
Celui qui a reçu la semence parmi les épines, c’est celui qui écoute la parole; mais les sollicitudes de ce siècle et la tromperie des richesses étouffent cette parole, et elle reste sans fruit. (aiōn g165)
23 But he that received the seed upon good ground, is he that heareth the word, and understandeth, and beareth fruit, and yieldeth the one an hundredfold, and another sixty, and another thirty.
Mais celui qui a reçu la semence dans une bonne terre, c’est celui qui écoute la parole et la comprend; qui porte du fruit, et rend ou cent, ou soixante, ou trente.
24 Another parable he proposed to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man that sowed good seeds in his field.
Il leur proposa une autre parabole, disant: Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un homme qui avait semé du bon grain dans son champ.
25 But while men were asleep, his enemy came and oversowed cockle among the wheat and went his way.
Mais pendant que les hommes dormaient, son ennemi vint et sema de l’ivraie au milieu du froment, et s’en alla.
26 And when the blade was sprung up, and had brought forth fruit, then appeared also the cockle.
L’herbe ayant donc crû et produit son fruit, alors parut aussi l’ivraie.
27 And the servants of the goodman of the house coming said to him: Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? whence then hath it cockle?
Cependant les serviteurs du père de famille s’approchant, lui demandèrent: Seigneur, n’avez vous pas semé du bon grain dans votre champ? D’où vient donc qu’il y a de l’ivraie?
28 And he said to them: An enemy hath done this. And the servants said to him: Wilt thou that we go and gather it up?
Et il leur répondit: C’est un homme ennemi qui a fait cela. Les serviteurs lui demandèrent: Voulez-vous que nous allions l’arracher?
29 And he said: No, lest perhaps gathering up the cockle, you root up the wheat also together with it.
Il répondit: Non, de peur qu’arrachant l’ivraie, vous n’arrachiez aussi le froment avec elle.
30 Suffer both to grow until the harvest, and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers: Gather up first the cockle, and bind it into bundles to burn, but the wheat gather ye into my barn.
Laissez l’un et l’autre croître jusqu’à la moisson, et, au temps de la moisson, je dirai aux moissonneurs: Arrachez d’abord l’ivraie, et liez-la en gerbes pour la brûler; mais le froment, rassemblez-le dans mon grenier.
31 Another parable he proposed unto them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field.
Il leur proposa une autre parabole, disant: Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un grain de sénevé, qu’un homme prit et sema dans son champ.
32 Which is the least indeed of all seeds; but when it is grown up, it is greater than all herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come, and dwell in the branches thereof.
C’est, à la vérité, le plus petit de tous les grains; mais lorsqu’il a crû, il est plus grand que toutes les plantes, et il devient un arbre; de sorte que les oiseaux du ciel viennent habiter dans ses rameaux.
33 Another parable he spoke to them: The kingdom of heaven is like to leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until the whole was leavened.
Il leur dit encore cette autre parabole: Le royaume du ciel est semblable au levain qu’une femme prend et mêle dans trois mesures de farine, jusqu’à ce que le tout ait fermenté.
34 All these things Jesus spoke in parables to the multitudes: and without parables he did not speak to them.
Jésus dit toutes ces choses en paraboles à la multitude; et il ne lui parlait point sans paraboles;
35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.
Afin que s’accomplît la parole du prophète disant: J’ouvrirai ma bouche en paraboles, et je révélerai des choses cachées depuis la fondation du monde.
36 Then having sent away the multitudes, he came into the house, and his disciples came to him, saying: Expound to us the parable of the cockle of the field.
Alors, la multitude renvoyée, il vint dans la maison, et ses disciples s’approchèrent de lui, disant: Expliquez-nous la parabole de l’ivraie semée dans le champ.
37 Who made answer and said to them: He that soweth the good seed, is the Son of man.
Jésus répondant, leur dit: Celui qui sème le bon grain, c’est le Fils de l’homme,
38 And the field, is the world. And the good seed are the children of the kingdom. And the cockle, are the children of the wicked one.
Et le champ, c’est le monde. Mais le bon grain, ce sont les enfants du royaume, et l’ivraie les enfants du malin esprit.
39 And the enemy that sowed them, is the devil. But the harvest is the end of the world. And the reapers are the angels. (aiōn g165)
L’ennemi qui l’a semée, c’est le démon. La moisson, c’est la consommation du siècle; et les moissonneurs sont les anges. (aiōn g165)
40 Even as cockle therefore is gathered up, and burnt with fire: so shall it be at the end of the world. (aiōn g165)
Comme donc on arrache l’ivraie et qu’on la brûle dans le feu, ainsi en sera-t-il à la consommation du siècle. (aiōn g165)
41 The Son of man shall send his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all scandals, and them that work iniquity.
Le Fils de l’homme enverra ses anges, et ils enlèveront de son royaume tous les scandales et ceux qui commettent l’iniquité;
42 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Et ils les jetteront dans la fournaise du feu. Là sera le pleur et le grincement de dents.
43 Then shall the just shine as the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Alors les justes resplendiront comme le soleil dans le royaume de leur Père. Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, entende.
44 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un trésor caché dans un champ; celui qui l’a trouvé, le cache, et à cause de la joie qu’il en a, il va et vend tout ce qu’il a, et il achète ce champ.
45 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant seeking good pearls.
Le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un marchand qui cherchait de bonnes perles;
46 Who when he had found one pearl of great price, went his way, and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Or, une perle précieuse trouvée, il s’en alla, vendit tout ce qu’il avait, et l’acheta.
47 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a net cast into the sea, and gathering together of all kind of fishes.
Le royaume de Dieu est encore semblable à un filet jeté dans la mer, qui prend toutes sortes de poissons;
48 Which, when it was filled, they drew out, and sitting by the shore, they chose out the good into vessels, but the bad they cast forth.
Et, lorsqu’il est plein, les pêcheurs le retirant, puis, s’asseyant sur le rivage, ils choisissent les bons, les mettent dans des vases, et jettent les mauvais dehors.
49 So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go out, and shall separate the wicked from among the just. (aiōn g165)
Ainsi en sera-t-il à la consommation du siècle; les anges viendront et sépareront les méchants du milieu des justes, (aiōn g165)
50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Et les jetteront dans la fournaise du feu. Là sera le pleur et le grincement de dents.
51 Have ye understood all these things? They say to him: Yes.
Avez-vous bien compris tout ceci? Ils lui dirent: Oui.
52 He said unto them: Therefore every scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven, is like to a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure new things and old.
Et il ajouta: C’est pourquoi tout scribe, instruit de ce qui touche le royaume des cieux, est semblable au père de famille qui tire de son trésor des choses nouvelles et des choses anciennes.
53 And it came to pass: when Jesus had finished these parables, he passed from thence.
Et il arriva que, lorsque Jésus eut achevé ces paraboles, il partit de là.
54 And coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogues, so that they wondered and said: How came this man by this wisdom and miracles?
Or étant venu dans son pays, il les instruisait dans leurs synagogues; de sorte que saisis d’étonnement, ils disaient: D’où viennent à celui-ci cette sagesse et ces miracles?
55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude:
N’est-ce pas le fils du charpentier? Sa mère ne s’appelle-t-elle point Marie? et ses frères, Jacques, Joseph, Simon et Jude?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence therefore hath he all these things?
Et ses sœurs, ne sont-elles pas toutes parmi nous? D’où lui viennent donc toutes ces choses?
57 And they were scandalized in his regard. But Jesus said to them: A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
Et ils se scandalisaient de lui. Mais Jésus leur dit: Un prophète n’est pas sans honneur si ce n’est dans sa patrie et dans sa maison.
58 And he wrought not many miracles there, because of their unbelief.
Et il ne fit pas là beaucoup de miracles, à cause de leur incrédulité.
