Mark 2
1 And again he entered into Capharnaum after some days.
Pocos días después, Jesús regresó a su casa en Capernaúm y se difundió la noticia de que él estaba allí.
2 And it was heard that he was in the house, and many came together, so that there was no room; no, not even at the door; and he spoke to them the word.
Mucha gente se amontonó dentro de la casa, tanto que se llenó y la multitud llegaba hasta fuera de la puerta. Jesús les hablaba de la buena noticia.
3 And they came to him, bringing one sick of the palsy, who was carried by four.
Cuatro hombres habían traído a un hombre que estaba paralítico,
4 And when they could not offer him unto him for the multitude, they uncovered the roof where he was; and opening it, they let down the bed wherein the man sick of the palsy lay.
pero no pudieron acercarse a Jesús por la multitud que estaba allí. Así que subieron al techo y lo abrieron. Después que hicieron una abertura sobre el sitio donde estaba Jesús, bajaron la camilla con el hombre paralítico sobre ella.
5 And when Jesus had seen their faith, he saith to the sick of the palsy: Son, thy sins are forgiven thee.
Cuando Jesús vio la fe que tuvieron estos hombres, le dijo al hombre paralítico: “Amigo, tus pecados están perdonados”.
6 And there were some of the scribes sitting there, and thinking in their hearts:
Entonces algunos de los maestros religiosos que estaban sentados allí dijeron para sí:
7 Why doth this man speak thus? he blasphemeth. Who can forgive sins, but God only?
“¿Por qué habla él de esta manera? ¡Está blasfemando! ¿Quién puede perdonar pecados? ¡Solo Dios puede hacer eso!”
8 Which Jesus presently knowing in his spirit, that they so thought within themselves, saith to them: Why think you these things in your hearts?
Pero Jesús supo inmediatamente lo que ellos estaban pensando. Entonces les dijo: “¿Por qué piensan así?
9 Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy: Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say: Arise, take up thy bed, and walk?
¿Qué es más fácil: decirle al paralítico ‘tus pecados están perdonados,’ o ‘levántate, toma tu camilla y camina’?
10 But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy, )
Pero para que se convenzan de que el Hijo del hombre tiene autoridad para perdonar pecados,
11 I say to thee: Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.
yo te digo (dirigiéndose al paralítico), ‘Levántate, recoge tu camilla y vete a casa’”.
12 And immediately he arose; and taking up his bed, went his way in the sight of all; so that all wondered and glorified God, saying: We never saw the like.
Entonces el paralítico se levantó, recogió su camilla y caminó frente a todos los que estaban allí. Y todos estaban asombrados, y alababan a Dios, diciendo: “¡Nunca hemos visto algo así!”
13 And he went forth again to the sea side; and all the multitude came to him, and he taught them.
Luego Jesús salió y se ubicó junto al mar una vez más y le enseñaba a las multitudes que venían a él.
14 And when he was passing by, he saw Levi the son of Alpheus sitting at the receipt of custom; and he saith to him: Follow me. And rising up, he followed him.
Mientras caminaba, vio a Leví, el hijo de Alfeo, sentado en la mesa de los recaudadores de impuestos. “Sígueme”, le dijo Jesús. Entonces Leví se levantó y siguió a Jesús.
15 And it came to pass, that as he sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat down together with Jesus and his disciples. For they were many, who also followed him.
Esa noche Jesús cenó en la casa de Leví. Muchos recaudadores de impuestos y “pecadores” se unieron a Jesús y sus discípulos para la cena, porque muchos de ellos lo seguían.
16 And the scribes and the Pharisees, seeing that he ate with publicans and sinners, said to his disiples: Why doth your master eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
Cuando los líderes religiosos de los fariseos vieron a Jesús comiendo con tales personas, le preguntaron a los discípulos de Jesús: “¿Por qué Jesús come con los recaudadores de impuestos y pecadores?”
17 Jesus hearing this, saith to them: They that are well have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. For I came not to call the just, but sinners.
Cuando Jesús escuchó esto, les dijo: “No son las personas sanas las que necesitan de un médico, sino las que están enfermas. No he venido a invitar a los que hacen lo correcto, sino a quienes no lo hacen, a los pecadores”.
18 And the disiples of John and the Pharisees used to fast; and they come and say to him: Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast; but thy disciples do not fast?
Aconteció que los discípulos de Juan y los fariseos estaban ayunando. Algunos de ellos vinieron donde Jesús estaba y le preguntaron: “¿Por qué los discípulos de Juan y los fariseos ayunan, pero tus discípulos no lo hacen?”
19 And Jesus saith to them: Can the children of the marriage fast, as long as the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
“¿Acaso los invitados a una fiesta de bodas ayunan mientras el novio está con ellos?” preguntó Jesús. “No. Mientras el novio está con ellos, ellos no pueden ayunar.
20 But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them; and then they shall fast in those days.
Pero viene el día en que el novio será arrebatado de en medio de ellos, y entonces ellos ayunarán.
21 No man seweth a piece of raw cloth to an old garment: otherwise the new piecing taketh away from the old, and there is made a greater rent.
Nadie coloca un parche nuevo en ropas viejas. De lo contrario el parche nuevo se encogería y se despegaría de la ropa vieja y la rasgadura sería peor.
22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: otherwise the wine will burst the bottles, and both the wine will be spilled, and the bottles will be lost. But new wine must be put into new bottles.
Nadie echa vino nuevo en odres viejos. De ser así, el vino rompería los odres y se dañaría tanto el vino como los odres. No. La gente echa el vino nuevo en odres nuevos”.
23 And it came to pass again, as the Lord walked through the corn fields on the sabbath, that his disciples began to go forward, and to pluck the ears of corn.
Sucedió que un día sábado, mientras Jesús caminaba por los campos de trigo, sus discípulos comenzaron a recoger espigas por el camino.
24 And the Pharisees said to him: Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
Los fariseos le preguntaron entonces a Jesús: “Mira, ¿por qué ellos están haciendo algo que no está permitido hacer en sábado?”
25 And he said to them: Have you never read what David did when he had need, and was hungry himself, and they that were with him?
“¿Acaso ustedes no han leído lo que hizo David cuando él y sus hombres tuvieron hambre?” les preguntó Jesús.
26 How he went into the house of God, under Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the loaves of proposition, which was not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave to them who were with him?
“Él entró a la casa de Dios cuando Abiatar era el sumo sacerdote, y comió del pan de la consagración, del cual no podía comer nadie, excepto los sacerdotes, y lo dio a comer a sus hombres también”.
27 And he said to them: The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.
“El sábado fue hecho para beneficio de ustedes, y no ustedes para beneficio del sábado”, les dijo.
28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord of the sabbath also.
“Así que el Hijo del hombre es Señor incluso del sábado”.
