Luke 12
1 And when great multitudes stood about him, so that they trod one upon another, he began to say to his disciples: Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
Ajuntando-se entretanto muitos milhares de pessoas, de sorte que se atropelavam uns aos outros, começou a dizer aos seus discípulos: acautelai-vos primeiramente do fermento dos fariseus, que é a hipocrisia.
2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed: nor hidden, that shall not be known.
Mas nada há encoberto que não haja de ser descoberto; nem oculto, que não haja de ser sabido.
3 For whatsoever things you have spoken in darkness, shall be published in the light: and that which you have spoken in the ear in the chambers, shall be preached on the housetops.
Porquanto tudo o que em trevas dissestes à luz será ouvido; e o que falastes ao ouvido no gabinete sobre os telhados será apregoado.
4 And I say to you, my friends: Be not afraid of them who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
E digo-vos, amigos meus; Não temais os que matam o corpo, e depois não tem mais que fazer.
5 But I will shew you whom you shall fear: fear ye him, who after he hath killed, hath power to cast into hell. Yea, I say to you, fear him. (Geenna g1067)
Mas eu vos mostrarei a quem deveis temer; temei aquele que, depois de matar, tem poder para lançar no inferno; sim, vos digo, a esse temei. (Geenna g1067)
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
Não se vendem cinco passarinhos por dois ceitis? E nenhum deles está esquecido diante de Deus.
7 Yea, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: you are of more value than many sparrows.
E até os cabelos da vossa cabeça estão todos contados. Não temais pois; mais valeis vós do que muitos passarinhos.
8 And I say to you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God.
E digo-vos que todo aquele que me confessar diante dos homens, também o Filho do homem o confessará diante dos anjos de Deus.
9 But he that shall deny me before men, shall be denied before the angels of God.
Mas quem me negar diante dos homens será negado diante dos anjos de Deus.
10 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but to him that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven.
E a todo aquele que disser uma palavra contra o Filho do homem ser-lhe-á perdoada, mas ao que blasfemar contra o Espírito Santo não lhe será perdoado.
11 And when they shall bring you into the synagogues, and to magistrates and powers, be not solicitous how or what you shall answer, or what you shall say;
E, quando vos conduzirem às sinagogas, aos magistrados e potestades, não estejais solicitos de como ou do que haveis de responder nem do que haveis de falar.
12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what you must say.
Porque na mesma hora vos ensinará o Espírito Santo o que vos convenha falar.
13 And one of the multitude said to him: Master, speak to my brother that he divide the inheritance with me.
E disse-lhe um da multidão: Mestre, dize a meu irmão que reparta comigo a herança.
14 But he said to him: Man, who hath appointed me judge, or divider, over you?
Mas ele lhe disse: Homem, quem me pôs a mim por juiz ou repartidor entre vós?
15 And he said to them: Take heed and beware of all covetousness; for a man’s life doth not consist in the abundance of things which he possesseth.
E disse-lhes: acautelai-vos e guardai-vos da avareza; porque a vida de qualquer não consiste na abundância dos bens que possui.
16 And he spoke a similitude to them, saying: The land of a certain rich man brought forth plenty of fruits.
E propos-lhes uma parábola, dizendo: A herdade dum homem rico tinha produzido com abundância;
17 And he thought within himself, saying: What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
E arrazoava ele entre si, dizendo: Que farei? Não tenho onde recolher os meus frutos.
18 And he said: This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and will build greater; and into them will I gather all things that are grown to me, and my goods.
E disse: Farei isto: Derribarei os meus celeiros, e edificarei outros maiores, e ali recolherei todas as minhas novidades e os meus bens;
19 And I will say to my soul: Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years take thy rest; eat, drink, make good cheer.
E direi à minha alma: Alma, tens em depósito muitos bens para muitos anos: descança, come, bebe, e folga.
20 But God said to him: Thou fool, this night do they require thy soul of thee: and whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?
Porém Deus lhe disse: Louco, esta noite te pedirão a tua alma; e o que tens preparado para quem será?
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God.
Assim é o que para si ajunta tesouros, e não é rico para com Deus.
22 And he said to his disciples: Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat; nor for your body, what you shall put on.
E disse aos seus discípulos: Portanto vos digo: Não estejais solicitos pela vossa vida, no que comereis, nem pelo corpo, no que vestireis.
23 The life is more than the meat, and the body is more than the raiment.
Mais é a vida do que o sustento, e o corpo mais do que o vestido.
24 Consider the ravens, for they sow not, neither do they reap, neither have they storehouse nor barn, and God feedeth them. How much are you more valuable than they?
Considerai os corvos, que nem semeiam, nem segam, nem tem dispensa nem celeiro, e Deus os alimenta: quanto mais valeis vós do que as aves?
25 And which of you, by taking thought, can add to his stature one cubit?
E qual de vós, sendo solícito, pode acrescentar um côvado à sua estatura?
26 If then ye be not able to do so much as the least thing, why are you solicitous for the rest?
Pois, se nem ainda podeis fazer as coisas mínimas, porque estais solicitos pelo mais?
27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin. But I say to you, not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these.
Considerai os lírios, como eles crescem; não trabalham, nem fiam; e digo-vos que nem ainda Salomão, em toda a sua glória, se vestiu como um deles.
28 Now if God clothe in this manner the grass that is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more you, O ye of little faith?
E, se Deus assim veste a erva que hoje está no campo, e amanhã é lançada no forno, quanto mais a vós, homens de pouca fé?
29 And seek not you what you shall eat, or what you shall drink: and be not lifted up on high.
Vós pois não pergunteis que haveis de comer, ou que haveis de beber, e não andeis inquietos.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek. But your Father knoweth that you have need of these things.
Porque as gentes do mundo buscam todas essas coisas; mas vosso Pai sabe que haveis míster delas.
31 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.
Buscai antes o reino de Deus, e todas estas coisas vos serão acrescentadas.
32 Fear not, little flock, for it hath pleased your Father to give you a kingdom.
Não temas, ó pequeno rebanho, porque a vosso Pai agradou dar-vos o reino.
33 Sell what you possess and give alms. Make to yourselves bags which grow not old, a treasure in heaven which faileth not: where no thief approacheth, nor moth corrupteth.
Vendei o que tendes, e dai esmola. Fazei para vós bolsas que não se envelheçam; tesouro nos céus que nunca acabe, aonde não chega ladrão, e a traça não roi.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Porque, onde estiver o vosso tesouro, ali estará também o vosso coração.
35 Let your loins be girt, and lamps burning in your hands.
Estejam cingidos os vossos lombos, e acesas as vossas candeias.
36 And you yourselves like to men who wait for their lord, when he shall return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open to him immediately.
E sede vós semelhantes aos homens que esperam a seu senhor, quando houver de voltar das bodas, para que, quando vier, e bater, logo possam abrir-lhe.
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when he cometh, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, that he will gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and passing will minister unto them.
Bem-aventurados aqueles servos, os quais, quando o Senhor vier, os achar vigiando! Em verdade vos digo que se cingirá, e os fará assentar à mesa, e, chegando-se, os servirá.
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
E, se vier na segunda vigília, e se vier na terceira vigília, e os achar assim, bem-aventurados são os tais servos.
39 But this know ye, that if the householder did know at what hour the thief would come, he would surely watch, and would not suffer his house to be broken open.
Sabei, porém, isto, que, se o Pai de família soubesse a que hora, havia de vir o ladrão, vigiaria, e não deixaria minar a sua casa.
40 Be you then also ready: for at what hour you think not, the Son of man will come.
Portanto, estai vós também apercebidos; porque virá o Filho do homem a hora que não imaginais.
41 And Peter said to him: Lord, dost thou speak this parable to us, or likewise to all?
E disse-lhe Pedro: Senhor, dizes essa parábola a nós, ou também a todos?
42 And the Lord said: Who (thinkest thou) is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord setteth over his family, to give them their measure of wheat in due season?
E disse o Senhor: Qual é pois o mordomo fiel e prudente, a quem o senhor pôs sobre os seus servos, para lhes dar a tempo a ração?
43 Blessed is that servant, whom when his lord shall come, he shall find so doing.
Bem-aventurado aquele servo, o qual o senhor, quando vier, achar fazendo assim.
44 Verily I say to you, he will set him over all that he possesseth.
Em verdade vos digo que sobre todos os seus bens o porá.
45 But if that servant shall say in his heart: My lord is long a coming; and shall begin to strike the menservants and maidservants, and to eat and to drink and be drunk:
Mas, se aquele servo disser em seu coração: O meu senhor tarda em vir; e começar a espancar os criados e criadas, e a comer, e a beber, e a embriagar-se,
46 The lord of that servant will come in the day that he hopeth not, and at the hour that he knoweth not, and shall separate him, and shall appoint him his portion with unbelievers.
Virá o senhor daquele servo no dia em que o não espera, e numa hora que ele não sabe, e separá-lo-a, e porá a sua parte com os infieis.
47 And that servant who knew the will of his lord, and prepared not himself, and did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
E o servo que soube a vontade do seu senhor, e não se apercebeu, nem fez conforme a sua vontade, será castigado com muitos açoites;
48 But he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required: and to whom they have committed much, of him they will demand the more.
Mas o que a não soube, e fez coisas dignas de açoites, com poucos açoites será castigado. E, a qualquer que muito for dado, muito se lhe pedirá, e ao que muito se lhe confiou muito mais se lhe pedirá.
49 I am come to cast fire on the earth; and what will I, but that it be kindled?
Vim lançar fogo na terra; e que quero, se já está aceso?
50 And I have a baptism wherewith I am to be baptized: and how am I straitened until it be accomplished?
Importa, porém, que seja batizado com um batismo; e como me angustio até que venha a cumprir-se!
51 Think ye, that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, no; but separation.
Cuidais vós que vim dar paz à terra? Não, vos digo, mas antes dissensão;
52 For there shall be from henceforth five in one house divided: three against two, and two against three.
Porque daqui em diante estarão cinco divididos numa casa: três contra dois, e dois contra três:
53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against his father, the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother, the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
O pai estará dividido contra o filho, e o filho contra o pai; a mãe contra a filha, e a filha contra a mãe; a sogra contra sua nora, e a nora contra sua sogra.
54 And he said also to the multitudes: When you see a cloud rising from the west, presently you say: A shower is coming: and so it happeneth:
E dizia também à multidão: Quando vêdes a nuvem que vem do ocidente, logo dizeis: Lá vem chuva, e assim sucede.
55 And when ye see the south wind blow, you say: There will be heat: and it cometh to pass.
E, quando assopra o sul, dizeis: Haverá calma; e assim sucede.
56 You hypocrites, you know how to discern the face of the heaven and of the earth: but how is it that you do not discern this time?
Hipócritas, sabeis distinguir a face da terra e do céu, e como não distinguis este tempo?
57 And why even of yourselves, do you not judge that which is just?
E porque não julgais também por vós mesmos o que é justo?
58 And when thou goest with thy adversary to the prince, whilst thou art in the way, endeavour to be delivered from him: lest perhaps he draw thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the exacter, and the exacter cast thee into prison.
Quando pois vais com o teu adversário ao magistrado, procura livrar-te dele no caminho; para que não suceda que te conduza ao juiz, e o juiz te entregue ao meirinho, e o meirinho te encerre na prisão.
59 I say to thee, thou shalt not go out thence, until thou pay the very last mite.
Digo-te que não sairás dali enquanto não pagares o derradeiro ceitil.
