Joel 1
1 The word of the Lord that came to Joel the son of Phatuel.
Dies ist das Wort des HERRN, das geschehen ist zu Joel, dem Sohn Pethuels.
2 Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land: did this ever happen in your days, or in the days of your fathers?
Höret dies, ihr Ältesten, und merket auf alle Einwohner im Lande, ob solches geschehen sei zu euren Zeiten oder zu eurer Väter Zeiten!
3 Tell ye of this to your children, and let your children tell their children, and their children to another generation.
Saget euren Kindern davon und lasset's eure Kinder ihren Kindern sagen und diese Kinder ihren Nachkommen!
4 That which the palmerworm hath left, the locust hath eaten: and that which the locust hath left, the bruchus hath eaten: and that which the bruchus hath left, the mildew hath destroyed.
Was die Raupen lassen, das fressen die Heuschrecken; und was die Heuschrecken lassen, das fressen die Käfer; und was die Käfer lassen, das frißt das Geschmeiß.
5 Awake, ye that are drunk, and weep, and mourn all ye that take delight in drinking sweet wine: for it is cut off from your mouth.
Wachet auf, ihr Trunkenen, und weinet, und heulet, alle Weinsäufer, um den Most; denn er ist euch vor eurem Maul weggenommen.
6 For a nation is come up upon my land, strong and without number: his teeth are like the teeth of a lion: and his cheek teeth as of a lion’s whelp.
Denn es zieht herauf in mein Land ein mächtiges Volk und ohne Zahl; das hat Zähne wie Löwen und Backenzähne wie Löwinnen.
7 He hath laid my vineyard waste, and hath pilled off the bark of my fig tree: he hath stripped it bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.
Das verwüstet meinen Weinberg und streift meinen Feigenbaum ab, schält ihn und verwirft ihn, daß seine Zweige weiß dastehen.
8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
Heule wie eine Jungfrau die einen Sack anlegt um ihren Bräutigam!
9 Sacrifice and libation is cut off from the house of the Lord: the priests, the Lord’s ministers, have mourned:
Denn das Speisopfer und Trankopfer ist vom Hause des HERRN weg, und die Priester, des HERRN Diener, trauern.
10 The country is destroyed, the ground hath mourned: for the corn is wasted, the wine is confounded, the oil hath languished.
Das Feld ist verwüstet, und der Acker steht jämmerlich; das Getreide ist verdorben, der Wein steht jämmerlich und das Öl kläglich.
11 The husbandmen are ashamed, the vinedressers have howled for the wheat, and for the barley, because the harvest of the field is perished.
Die Ackerleute sehen jämmerlich, und die Weingärtner heulen um den Weizen und die Gerste, daß aus der Ernte auf dem Felde nichts werden kann.
12 The vineyard is confounded, and the fig tree hath languished: the pomegranate tree, and the palm tree, and the apple tree, and all the trees of the field are withered: because joy is withdrawn from the children of men.
So steht der Weinstock auch jämmerlich und der Feigenbaum kläglich; dazu die Granatbäume, Palmbäume, Apfelbäume und alle Bäume auf dem Felde sind verdorrt; denn die Freude der Menschen ist zu Jammer geworden.
13 Gird yourselves, and lament, O ye priests, howl, ye ministers of the altars: go in, lie in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: because sacrifice and libation is cut off from the house of your God.
Begürtet euch nun und klaget, ihr Priester; heulet, ihr Diener des Altars; gehet hinein und lieget in Säcken, ihr Diener meines Gottes! denn es ist Speisopfer und Trankopfer vom Hause eures Gottes weg.
14 Sanctify ye a fast, call an assembly; gather together the ancients, all the inhabitants of the land into the house of your God: and cry ye to the Lord:
Heiliget ein Fasten, rufet die Gemeinde zusammen; versammelt die Ältesten und alle Einwohner des Landes zum Hause des HERRN, eures Gottes, und schreit zum HERRN!
15 Ah, ah, ah, for the day: because the day of the Lord is at hand, and it shall come like destruction from the mighty.
O weh des Tages! denn der Tag des HERRN ist nahe und kommt wie ein Verderben vom Allmächtigen.
16 Is not your food cut off before your eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
Ist nicht die Speise vor unsern Augen weggenommen und vom Hause unsers Gottes Freude und Wonne?
17 The beasts have rotted in their dung, the barns are destroyed, the storehouses are broken down: because the corn is confounded.
Der Same ist unter der Erde verfault, die Kornhäuser stehen wüst, die Scheunen zerfallen; denn das Getreide ist verdorben.
18 Why did the beast groan, why did the herds of cattle low? because there is no pasture for them: yea, and the flocks of sheep are perished.
O wie seufzt das Vieh! Die Rinder sehen kläglich, denn sie haben keine Weide, und die Schafe verschmachten.
19 To thee, O Lord, will I cry: because fire hath devoured the beautiful places of the wilderness, and the flame hath burnt all the trees of the country.
HERR, dich rufe ich an; denn das Feuer hat die Auen in der Wüste verbrannt, und die Flamme hat alle Bäume auf dem Acker angezündet.
20 Yea and the beasts of the field have looked up to thee, as a garden bed that thirsteth after rain, for the springs of waters are dried up, and fire hath devoured the beautiful places of the wilderness.
Es schrieen auch die wilden Tiere zu dir; denn die Wasserbäche sind ausgetrocknet, und das Feuer hat die Auen in der Wüste verbrannt.
