Job 5
1 Call now if there be any that will answer thee, and turn to some of the saints.
Κάλεσον τώρα, εάν τις σοι αποκριθή; και προς τίνα των αγίων θέλεις αποβλέψει;
2 Anger indeed killeth the foolish, and envy slayeth the little one.
Διότι η οργή φονεύει τον άφρονα, και η αγανάκτησις θανατόνει τον μωρόν.
3 I have seen a fool with a strong root, and I cursed his beauty immediately.
Εγώ είδον τον άφρονα ριζούμενον· αλλ' ευθύς προείπα κατηραμένην την κατοικίαν αυτού.
4 His children shall be far from safety, and shall be destroyed in the gate, and there shall be none to deliver them.
Οι υιοί αυτού είναι μακράν από της σωτηρίας, και καταπιέζονται έμπροσθεν της πύλης, και ουδείς ο ελευθερών·
5 Whose harvest the hungry shall eat, and the armed man shall take him by violence, and the thirsty shall drink up his riches.
των οποίων τον θερισμόν κατατρώγει ο πεινών, και αρπάζει αυτόν εκ των ακανθών και την περιουσίαν αυτών καταπίνει ο διψών.
6 Nothing upon earth is done without a voice cause, and sorrow doth not spring out of the ground.
Διότι εκ του χώματος δεν εξέρχεται η θλίψις, ουδέ η λύπη βλαστάνει εκ της γής·
7 Man is born to labour and the bird to fly.
αλλ' ο άνθρωπος γεννάται διά την λύπην, και οι νεοσσοί των αετών διά να πετώσιν υψηλά.
8 Wherefore I will pray to the Lord, and address my speech to God:
Αλλ' εγώ τον Θεόν θέλω επικαλεσθή, και εν τω Θεώ θέλω εναποθέσει την υπόθεσίν μου·
9 Who doth great things and unsearchable and wonderful things without number:
όστις κάμνει μεγαλεία ανεξιχνίαστα, θαυμάσια αναρίθμητα·
10 Who giveth rain upon the face of the earth, and watereth all things with waters:
όστις δίδει βροχήν επί το πρόσωπον της γης, και πέμπει ύδατα επί το πρόσωπον των αγρών·
11 Who setteth up the humble on high, and comforteth with health those that mourn.
όστις υψόνει τους ταπεινούς, και ανεγείρει εις σωτηρίαν τους τεθλιμμένους·
12 Who bringeth to nought the designs of the malignant, so that their hands cannot accomplish what they had begun:
όστις διασκεδάζει τας βουλάς των πανούργων, και δεν δύνανται αι χείρες αυτών να εκτελέσωσι την επιχείρησιν αυτών·
13 Who catcheth the wise in their craftiness, and disappointeth the counsel of the wicked:
όστις συλλαμβάνει τους σοφούς εν τη πανουργία αυτών· και η βουλή των δολίων ανατρέπεται·
14 They shall meet with darkness in the day, and grope at noonday as in the night.
την ημέραν απαντώσι σκότος, και εν μεσημβρία ψηλαφώσι καθώς εν νυκτί.
15 But he shall save the needy from the sword of their mouth, and the poor from the hand of the violent.
Τον πτωχόν όμως λυτρόνει εκ της ρομφαίας, εκ του στόματος αυτών και εκ της χειρός του ισχυρού.
16 And to the needy there shall he hope, but iniquity shall draw in her mouth.
Και ο πτωχός έχει ελπίδα, της δε ανομίας το στόμα εμφράττεται.
17 Blessed is the mall whom God correcteth: refuse not therefore the chastising of the lord:
Ιδού, μακάριος ο άνθρωπος, τον οποίον ελέγχει ο Θεός· διά τούτο μη καταφρόνει την παιδείαν του Παντοδυνάμου·
18 For he woundeth, and cureth: he striketh, and his hands shall heal.
διότι αυτός πληγόνει και επιδένει· κτυπά, και αι χείρες αυτού ιατρεύουσιν.
19 In six troubles he shall deliver thee, and in the seventh, evil shall not touch thee.
Εν εξ θλίψεσι θέλει σε ελευθερώσει· και εν τη εβδόμη δεν θέλει σε εγγίσει κακόν.
20 In famine he shall deliver thee from death: and in battle, from the hand of the sword.
Εν τη πείνη θέλει σε λυτρώσει εκ θανάτου· και εν πολέμω εκ χειρός ρομφαίας.
21 Thou shalt he hidden from the scourge of the tongue: and thou shalt not fear calamity when it cometh.
Από μάστιγος γλώσσης θέλεις είσθαι πεφυλαγμένος· και δεν θέλεις φοβηθή από του επερχομένου ολέθρου.
22 In destruction and famine then shalt laugh: and thou shalt not be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
Τον όλεθρον και την πείναν θέλεις καταγελά· και δεν θέλεις φοβηθή από των θηρίων της γης.
23 But thou shalt have a covenant with the stones of the lands, and the beasts of the earth shall be at pence with thee.
Διότι θέλεις έχει συμμαχίαν μετά των λίθων της πεδιάδος· και τα θηρία του αγρού θέλουσιν ειρηνεύει μετά σου.
24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle is in peace, and visiting thy beauty thou shalt not sin.
Και θέλεις γνωρίσει ότι ειρήνη είναι εν τη σκηνή σου, και θέλεις επισκεφθή την κατοικίαν σου, και δεν θέλει σοι λείπει ουδέν.
25 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be multiplied, and thy offspring like the grass of the earth.
Και θέλεις γνωρίσει ότι είναι πολύ το σπέρμα σου, και οι έκγονοί σου ως η βοτάνη της γης.
26 Thou shalt enter into the grave in abundance, as a heap of wheat is brought in its season.
Θέλεις ελθεί εις τον τάφον εν βαθεί γήρατι, καθώς συσσωρεύεται η θημωνία του σίτου εν τω καιρώ αυτής.
27 Behold, this is even so, as we have searched out: which thou having heard, consider it thoroughly in thy mind.
Ιδού, τούτο εξιχνιάσαμεν, ούτως έχει· άκουσον αυτό και γνώρισον εν σεαυτώ.
