< Job 15 >

1 And Eliphaz the Themanite, answered, and said:
Nake Elifazu ũrĩa Mũtemaani akĩũria atĩrĩ:
2 Will a wise man answer as if he were speaking in the wind, and fill his stomach with burning heat?
“Mũndũ mũũgĩ no acookie ũhoro na kwĩgereria, kana aiyũrie nda yake na rũhuho ruumĩte na irathĩro?
3 Thou reprovest him by words, who is not equal to thee, and thou speakest that which is not good for thee.
No eciirĩrĩre na ciugo cia tũhũ, kana na mĩario ĩtarĩ bata?
4 As much as is in thee, thou hast made void fear, and hast taken away prayers from before God.
5 For thy iniquity hath taught thy mouth, and thou imitatest the tongue of blasphemers.
Mehia maku nĩmo mataaraga kanua gaku; nawe ũthuurĩte kwaria na rũrĩmĩ rwa mũndũ mwara.
6 Thy own mouth shall condemn thee, and not I: and thy own lips shall answer thee.
Kanua gaku wee mwene nĩko karagũtuĩra ciira, ti gakwa: nayo mĩromo yaku wee mwene ĩkaaria ũira wa gũgũũkĩrĩra.
7 Art thou the first man that was born, or wast thou made before the hills?
“Wee nĩwe mũndũ wa mbere gũciarwo? Wee-rĩ, waciarirwo mbere ya irĩma igĩe ho?
8 Hast thou heard God’s counsel, and shall his wisdom be inferior to thee?
Wee nĩũthikagĩrĩria ndundu ya Ngai? Wee wiki-rĩ, nowe ũrigĩtie na ũũgĩ?
9 What knowest thou that we are ignorant of? what dost thou understand that we know not?
Nĩ atĩa ũũĩ ithuĩ tũtooĩ? Nĩ ũmenyo ũrĩkũ ũrĩ naguo ithuĩ tũtarĩ?
10 There are with us also aged and ancient men, much elder than thy fathers.
Tũrĩ na athuuri marĩ na mbuĩ na arĩa akũrũ mũno, andũ akũrũ o na gũkĩra thoguo.
11 Is it a great matter that God should comfort thee? but thy wicked words hinder this.
12 Why doth thy heart elevate thee, and why dost thou stare with thy eyes, as if they were thinking great things?
Ngoro yaku ĩgũteete nĩkĩ, na nĩ kĩĩ kĩratũma ũikare ũkiunaga maitho,
13 Why doth thy spirit swell against God, to utter such words out of thy mouth?
nĩguo werekerie marakara maku kũrĩ Mũrungu, o na ũgaitũrũra ciugo ta icio kuuma kanua gaku?
14 What is man that he should be without spot, and he that is born of a woman that he should appear just?
“Mũndũ akĩrĩ kĩ, atĩ no ahote gũtuĩka mũtheru, o na mũndũ ũciarĩtwo nĩ mũndũ-wa-nja nake akĩrĩ kĩĩ, atĩ no ahote gũtuĩka mũthingu?
15 Behold among his saints none is unchangeable, and the heavens are not pure in his sight.
Angĩkorwo Ngai ndangĩhota kwĩhoka andũ arĩa ake aamũre-rĩ, na kũngĩkorwo o na igũrũ ti gũtheru maitho-inĩ make-rĩ,
16 How much more is man abominable, and unprofitable, who drinketh iniquity like water?
mũndũ akĩrĩ kĩ atĩ amwĩhoke? Mũndũ nĩ mwaganu na nĩ kĩmaramari, anyuuaga waganu ta maaĩ!
17 I will shew thee, hear me: and I will tell thee what I have seen.
“Wee ta thikĩrĩria na nĩngũgũtaarĩria; reke ngwĩre ũrĩa nyonete,
18 Wise men confess and hide not their fathers.
ngwĩre ũrĩa andũ arĩa oogĩ moigĩte, matekũhitha ũndũ o na ũmwe wa ũhoro ũrĩa maaheirwo nĩ maithe mao,
19 To whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger hath passed among them.
(o acio oiki maaheetwo bũrũri hĩndĩ ĩrĩa gũtaarĩ mũndũ wa kũngĩ watuĩkanagia gatagatĩ-inĩ kao):
20 The wicked man is proud all his days, and the number of the years of his tyranny is uncertain.
Atĩrĩ, mũndũ mwaganu akoragwo na mĩnyamaro matukũ make mothe. Matukũ mothe ma ũcio ũtarĩ tha-rĩ, maigĩirwo o mĩnyamaro.
21 The sound of dread is always in his ears: and when there is peace, he always suspecteth treason.
Aiguaga o mĩgambo ya kũmakania mũno; hĩndĩ ĩrĩa maũndũ mothe moneka ta marĩ mega-rĩ, atunyani makamũtharĩkĩra.
22 He believeth not that he may return from darkness to light, looking round about for the sword on every side.
Ndarĩ na kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro gĩa gwĩthara kuuma nduma-inĩ; etereirio kũũragwo na rũhiũ rwa njora.
23 When he moveth himself to seek bread, he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
Orũũraga agĩcaragia irio, oragie atĩrĩ, ‘Irĩ na kũ?’ Aikaraga amenyete atĩ mũthenya wa nduma ũrĩ o hakuhĩ.
24 Tribulation shall terrify him, and distress shall surround him, as a king that is prepared for the battle.
Mĩnyamaro na ruo rwa ngoro nĩcio imũmakagia; imũtooragia taarĩ mũthamaki wĩhaarĩirie kũmũtharĩkĩra,
25 For he hath stretched out his hand against God, and hath strengthened himself against the Almighty.
nĩ ũndũ ainainagĩria Mũrungu ngundi, na akangʼathĩria Mwene-Hinya-Wothe,
26 He hath run against him with his neck raised up, and is armed with a fat neck.
27 Fatness hath covered his face, and the fat hangeth down on his sides.
“O na gũtuĩka ũthiũ wake nĩ mũnoru, na njohero yake ĩkaneneha nĩ kũnora-rĩ,
28 He hath dwelt in desolate cities, and in desert houses that are reduced into heaps.
agaatũũraga matũũra maanangĩku, na aikarage nyũmba itatũũragwo nĩ mũndũ, nyũmba itigairie o kũmomoka ituĩke ihumbu cia mahiga.
29 He shall not be enriched, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he push his root in the earth.
Ndagacooka gũkorwo arĩ mũtongu, naguo ũtonga wake ndũgatũũra, o na kana indo ciake itheereme kũu bũrũri-inĩ.
30 He shall not depart out of darkness: the flame shall dry up his branches, and he shall be taken away by the breath of his own month.
Ndakahota kũũrĩra nduma; rũrĩrĩmbĩ nĩrũkahoohia thuuna ciake, nayo mĩhũmũ ya kanua ka Ngai nĩĩkamweheria.
31 He shall not believe, being vainly deceived by error, that he may be redeemed with any price.
32 Before his days be full he shall perish: and his hands shall wither away.
Ihinda rĩake rĩtanakinya-rĩ, nĩakarĩhio mũigana wake wothe, na honge ciake itikarura.
33 He shall be blasted as a vine when its grapes are in the first flower, and as an olive tree that casteth its flower.
Agaatuĩka ta mũthabibũ ũhũrũrĩtwo thabibũ ciaguo itarĩ njĩru, ahaane ta mũtamaiyũ ũraita kĩro kĩaguo.
34 For the congregation of the hypocrite is barren, and fire shall devour their tabernacles, who love to take bribes.
Nĩgũkorwo andũ a thiritũ ya arĩa matooĩ Ngai matũũraga marĩ thaata, na mwaki nĩũgaacina hema cia arĩa mendete mahaki.
35 He hath conceived sorrow, and hath brought forth iniquity, and his womb prepareth deceits.
Magĩaga nda cia mathĩĩna, na magaciara waganu; nda ciao ithugundaga o maheeni.”
