Job 15
1 And Eliphaz the Themanite, answered, and said:
১তারপর তৈমনীয় ইলীফস উত্তর দিলেন এবং বললেন,
2 Will a wise man answer as if he were speaking in the wind, and fill his stomach with burning heat?
২“একজন জ্ঞানী ব্যক্তি কি অকার্যকর জ্ঞানে উত্তর দেবে এবং নিজেকে পূর্বীয় বাতাসে পূর্ণ করবে?
3 Thou reprovest him by words, who is not equal to thee, and thou speakest that which is not good for thee.
৩সে কি মূল্যহীন কথায় তর্ক করবে অথবা কথা দিয়ে সে কোন ভাল কাজ করতে পারে?
4 As much as is in thee, thou hast made void fear, and hast taken away prayers from before God.
৪সত্যি, তুমি ঈশ্বরের প্রতি সম্মান কমিয়ে দিয়েছ; তুমি তাঁর উপাসনা বন্ধ করেছ,
5 For thy iniquity hath taught thy mouth, and thou imitatest the tongue of blasphemers.
৫কারণ তোমার পাপ তোমার মুখকে শিক্ষা দেয়; তুমি ধূর্ততার জিভ বেছে নিয়েছ।
6 Thy own mouth shall condemn thee, and not I: and thy own lips shall answer thee.
৬তোমার নিজের মুখ তোমায় দোষী করে, আমি নই, সত্যি, তোমার নিজের ঠোঁট তোমার বিরুদ্ধে সাক্ষ্য দেয়।
7 Art thou the first man that was born, or wast thou made before the hills?
৭তুমি কি সেই প্রথম মানুষ যে জন্মেছিল? পাহাড়ের আগে কি তোমার অস্তিত্ব ছিল?
8 Hast thou heard God’s counsel, and shall his wisdom be inferior to thee?
৮তুমি কি ঈশ্বরের গোপন জ্ঞানের কথা শুনেছ? তুমি কি তোমার জন্য জ্ঞানকে সীমিত করেছ?
9 What knowest thou that we are ignorant of? what dost thou understand that we know not?
৯তুমি কি জান যা আমরা জানি না? তুমি কি বোঝো যা আমরা বুঝি না?
10 There are with us also aged and ancient men, much elder than thy fathers.
১০আমাদের সঙ্গে পাকাচুল এবং বৃদ্ধ লোকেরা দুই আছেন, যারা তোমার বাবার থেকেও বৃদ্ধ।
11 Is it a great matter that God should comfort thee? but thy wicked words hinder this.
১১ঈশ্বরের সান্ত্বনা কি তোমার জন্য খুব সামান্য, এমনকি সেই বাক্য তোমার প্রতি কোমল?
12 Why doth thy heart elevate thee, and why dost thou stare with thy eyes, as if they were thinking great things?
১২কেন তোমার হৃদয় তোমাকে বিপথে নিয়ে যায়? কেন তোমার চোখ মিটমিট করে,
13 Why doth thy spirit swell against God, to utter such words out of thy mouth?
১৩যাতে তুমি তোমার আত্মা ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে ফেরাও এবং তোমার মুখ সেই ধরনের কথা বার করে
14 What is man that he should be without spot, and he that is born of a woman that he should appear just?
১৪মানুষ কি যে, সে পবিত্র হতে পারে? যে একজন মহিলার থেকে জন্মেছে সে কে যে সে ধার্মিক হতে পারে?
15 Behold among his saints none is unchangeable, and the heavens are not pure in his sight.
১৫দেখ, ঈশ্বর এমনকি তাঁর পবিত্র লোকেও বিশ্বাস রাখে না; সত্যি, আকাশও তাঁর দৃষ্টিতে পরিষ্কার নয়;
16 How much more is man abominable, and unprofitable, who drinketh iniquity like water?
১৬সেই ব্যক্তি কত বেশি না জঘন্য এবং দুর্নীতিগ্রস্থ, একজন লোক যে জলের মত অপরাধ পান করে!
17 I will shew thee, hear me: and I will tell thee what I have seen.
১৭আমি তোমায় দেখাব; আমার কথা শোন; আমি যা দেখেছি তা তোমায় ঘোষণা করবে,
18 Wise men confess and hide not their fathers.
১৮সেই বিষয় যা জ্ঞানী লোকেরা তাদের বাবার থেকে পেয়েছে, সেই বিষয় যা তাদের পূর্ব্বপুরুষেরা গোপন রাখে নি।
19 To whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger hath passed among them.
১৯এরাই তাদের পূর্বপুরুষ ছিল, যাদেরকে শুধু এই দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে এবং যাদের মধ্যে কোন বিদেশী লোক ছিল না।
20 The wicked man is proud all his days, and the number of the years of his tyranny is uncertain.
২০পাপী লোক সারা জীবন ব্যথায় কষ্ট পায়, অত্যাচারীদের বছরের সংখ্যা তার দুঃখভোগের জন্য রাখা আছে।
21 The sound of dread is always in his ears: and when there is peace, he always suspecteth treason.
২১আতঙ্কের শব্দ তার কানে আছে; তার উন্নতির দিনের, ধ্বংসকারী তার ওপরে আসবে।
22 He believeth not that he may return from darkness to light, looking round about for the sword on every side.
২২সে ভাবে না যে সে অন্ধকার থেকে ফিরে আসবে; তলোয়ার তার জন্য অপেক্ষা করছে।
23 When he moveth himself to seek bread, he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
২৩সে রুটির জন্য বিদেশে ঘুরে বেড়াবে, বলে, ‘এটা কোথায়?’ সে জানে যে অন্ধকারের দিন উপস্থিত।
24 Tribulation shall terrify him, and distress shall surround him, as a king that is prepared for the battle.
২৪দুঃখ এবং যন্ত্রণা তাকে ভয় দেখায়; তারা তার বিরুদ্ধে প্রবল হয়, যেমন একজন রাজা যুদ্ধের জন্য তৈরী হয়।
25 For he hath stretched out his hand against God, and hath strengthened himself against the Almighty.
২৫কারণ সে ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে হাত বাড়িয়েছে এবং সর্বশক্তিমানের বিরুদ্ধে অহঙ্কারীদের মত আচরণ করেছে,
26 He hath run against him with his neck raised up, and is armed with a fat neck.
২৬এই পাপী একগুঁয়ে মানুষেরা ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে দৌড়াছে, তারা তাদের মোটা ঢাল নিয়ে দৌড়াচ্ছে।
27 Fatness hath covered his face, and the fat hangeth down on his sides.
২৭এটা সত্যি, এমনকি যদিও সে তার মুখ চর্বি দিয়ে ঢাকত এবং তার কোমরে চর্বি জমাত,
28 He hath dwelt in desolate cities, and in desert houses that are reduced into heaps.
২৮এবং জনশূন্য শহরে বাস করত, সেই সব বাড়িতে বাস করত যাতে এখন কোন মানুষ বাস করে না এবং যা ঢিবি হওয়ার জন্য তৈরী ছিল।
29 He shall not be enriched, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he push his root in the earth.
২৯সে ধনী হবে না; তার সম্পত্তি টিকবে না; এমনকি তার ছায়াও পৃথিবীতে থাকবে না।
30 He shall not depart out of darkness: the flame shall dry up his branches, and he shall be taken away by the breath of his own month.
৩০সে অন্ধকার থেকে বেরবে না; একটা আগুন তার শাখা গুলোকে শুকিয়ে দেবে; ঈশ্বরের মুখের নিঃশ্বাসে সে চলে যাবে।
31 He shall not believe, being vainly deceived by error, that he may be redeemed with any price.
৩১সে অকার্যকর বিষয়ে বিশ্বাস না করুক, নিজেকে ঠকাবে; কারণ অকার্যকারিতা তার পুরষ্কার হবে।
32 Before his days be full he shall perish: and his hands shall wither away.
৩২এটা তার মৃত্যুর আগে ঘটবে; তার শাখা সবুজ হবে না।
33 He shall be blasted as a vine when its grapes are in the first flower, and as an olive tree that casteth its flower.
৩৩আঙ্গুরের গাছের মত সে তার কাঁচা আঙ্গুর ঝড়াবে; জিত গাছের মত সে তার ফুল ঝড়াবে।
34 For the congregation of the hypocrite is barren, and fire shall devour their tabernacles, who love to take bribes.
৩৪কারণ অধার্মিকদের মণ্ডলী বন্ধ্যা হবে; তাদের ঘুষের তাঁবু আগুন গ্রাস করবে।
35 He hath conceived sorrow, and hath brought forth iniquity, and his womb prepareth deceits.
৩৫তারা নষ্টামি গর্ভে ধারণ করে এবং অপরাধ জন্ম দেয়; তাদের গর্ভ প্রতারণা ধারণ করে।”
