Job 14

1 Man born of a woman, living for a short time, is filled with many miseries.

“பெண்ணினால் பெற்றெடுக்கப்பட்ட மனிதன் சில நாட்களே வாழ்கிறான், அவையும் கஷ்டம் நிறைந்தவையே.

2 Who cometh forth like a flower, and is destroyed, and fleeth as a shadow, and never continueth in the same state.

அவன் ஒரு பூவைப்போல் பூத்து வாடிப்போகிறான்; அவன் நிழலைப்போல் நிலையற்று மறைந்துபோகிறான்.

3 And dost thou think it meet to open thy eyes upon such an one, and to bring him into judgment with thee?

அப்படிப்பட்டவனை நீர் கூர்ந்து கவனிப்பீரோ? அவனை நியாயந்தீர்ப்பதற்காக உமக்கு முன்பாகக் கொண்டுவருவீரோ?

4 Who can make him clean that is conceived of unclean seed? is it not thou who only art?

அசுத்தத்தில் இருந்து சுத்தத்தை உருவாக்க யாரால் முடியும்? யாராலுமே முடியாது!

5 The days of man are short, and the number of his months is with thee: thou hast appointed his bounds which cannot be passed.

மனிதனுடைய நாட்கள் குறிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன; அவனுடைய மாதங்களையும் நீரே நிர்ணயித்திருக்கிறீர், அவன் கடக்கமுடியாத எல்லைகளைக் குறித்திருக்கிறீர்.

6 Depart a little from him, that he may rest, until his wished for day come, as that of the hireling.

ஒரு கூலியாள் தன் அன்றாட வேலை முடிந்தது என்று நிம்மதியாய் இருக்கிறானே. அதுபோல் நீரும் மனிதன் ஓய்ந்திருக்க உமது பார்வையை அவனைவிட்டு விலக்கும்.

7 A tree hath hope: if it be cut, it groweth green again, and the boughs thereof sprout.

“மரத்திற்குக்கூட ஒரு எதிர்பார்ப்பு உண்டு: அது வெட்டிப்போடப்பட்டாலும் மீண்டும் தழைக்கும்; அதின் புதிய தளிர்கள் தவறாது முளைக்கும்.

8 If its root be old in the earth, and its stock be dead in the dust:

அதின் வேர் நிலத்தினடியில் பழையதாகி, அதின் அடிக்கட்டை மண்ணிலே செத்தாலும்,

9 At the scent of water, it shall spring, and bring forth leaves, as when it was first planted.

தண்ணீர் பட்டவுடனே அது துளிர்விட்டு ஒரு செடியைப்போல் கிளைவிட்டு வளரும்.

10 But man when he shall be dead, and stripped and consumed, I pray you where is he?

மனிதனோ இறந்தபின், தன் இறுதி மூச்சைவிட்டு இல்லாதொழிந்து போகிறான்.

11 As if the waters should depart out of the sea, and an emptied river should be dried up:

கடல் தண்ணீர் வற்றி, வெள்ளம் வறண்டு கிடப்பதுபோலவும்

12 So man when he is fallen asleep shall not rise again; till the heavens be broken, he shall not awake, nor rise up out of his sleep.

மனிதன் படுத்துக்கிடக்கிறான், அவன் வானங்கள் ஒழிந்துபோகும்வரை எழுந்திருக்கிறதும் இல்லை; தூக்கம் தெளிந்து விழிக்கிறதும் இல்லை.

13 Who will grant me this, that thou mayst protect me in hell, and hide me till thy wrath pass, and appoint me a. time when thou wilt remember me? (Sheol h7585)

“நீர் என்னைப் பாதாளத்தில் ஒளித்து, உமது கோபம் தீருமட்டும் மறைத்துவைத்து, நீர் எனக்கு ஒரு காலத்தைக் குறித்து, அதின்பின் என்னை நினைவுகூர்ந்திருந்தாலோ எனக்கு நன்றாயிருந்திருக்குமே! (Sheol h7585)

14 Shall man that is dead, thinkest thou, live again? all the days in which I am now in warfare, I expect until my change come.

ஒரு மனிதன் இறந்துபோனால் திரும்பவும் அவன் வாழ்வானோ? ஆனாலும் என் கடின உழைப்பின் நாட்களிலெல்லாம் நான் எனது விடுதலைக்காகக் காத்திருப்பேன்.

15 Thou shalt call me, and I will answer thee: to the work of thy hands thou shalt reach out thy right hand.

அப்பொழுது நீர் கூப்பிடுவீர், நான் பதில் கொடுப்பேன், நீர் உமது கரங்களின் படைப்பாகிய என்மேல் வாஞ்சையாயிருப்பீர்.

16 Thou indeed hast numbered my steps, but spare my sins.

நிச்சயமாக நீர் என் காலடிகளைக் கணக்கிடுவீர்; என் பாவத்தையோ கவனத்தில் கொள்ளமாட்டீர்.

17 Thou hast sealed up my offences as it were in a bag, but hast cured my iniquity.

எனது குற்றங்கள் பையில் இடப்பட்டு முத்திரையிடப்படும்; நீர் எனது பாவங்களை மூடி மறைப்பீர்.

18 A mountain falling cometh to nought, and a rock is removed out of its place.

“ஆனால் மலை இடிந்து விழுந்து கரைவதுபோலவும், பாறை தன் இடத்தைவிட்டு நகருவதுபோலவும்,

19 Waters wear away the stones, and with inundation the ground by little and little is washed away: so in like manner thou shalt destroy man.

தண்ணீர் கற்களை அரிப்பதுபோலவும், வெள்ளம் மணலை அடித்துச்செல்வது போலவும் மனிதனின் எதிர்பார்ப்பை நீர் அழித்துப் போடுகிறீர்.

20 Thou hast strengthened him for a little while, that he may pass away for ever: thou shalt change his face, and shalt send him away.

நீர் அவனை ஒரேயடியாக மேற்கொள்கிறீர், அவன் இல்லாமல் போகிறான்; நீர் அவன் முகத்தோற்றத்தை வேறுபடுத்தி, அவனை விரட்டிவிடுகிறீர்.

21 Whether his children come to honour or dishonour, he shall not understand.

அவனுடைய மகன்கள் மேன்மையடைந்தாலும், அவன் அதை அறியான்; அவர்கள் தாழ்த்தப்பட்டாலும், அதையும் அவன் காணமாட்டான்.

22 But yet his flesh, while he shall live, shall have pain, and his soul shall mourn over him.

ஆனால் தன் சொந்த உடலின் நோவை மட்டுமே அறிவான், அவன் தனக்காக மாத்திரமே துக்கப்படுகிறான்.”
