Jeremiah 37
1 Now king Sedecias the son of Josias reigned instead of Jechonias the son of Joakim: whom Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon made king in the land of Juda.
और सिदक़ियाह बिन यूसियाह जिसको शाह — ए — बाबुल नबूकदनज़र ने मुल्क — ए — यहूदाह पर बादशाह मुक़र्रर किया था, कूनियाह बिन यहुयक़ीम की जगह बादशाही करने लगा।
2 But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land did obey the words of the Lord, that he spoke in the hand of Jeremias the prophet.
लेकिन न उसने, न उसके मुलाज़िमों ने, न मुल्क के लोगों ने ख़ुदावन्द की वह बातें सुनीं, जो उसने यरमियाह नबी के ज़रिए' फ़रमाई थीं।
3 And king Sedecias sent Juchal the son of Selemias, and Sophonias the son of Maasias the priest to Jeremias the prophet, saying: Pray to the Lord our God for us.
और सिदक़ियाह बादशाह ने यहूकल — बिन सलमियाह और सफ़नियाह — बिन — मासियाह काहिन के ज़रिए' यरमियाह नबी को कहला भेजा कि अब हमारे लिए ख़ुदावन्द हमारे ख़ुदा से दुआ कर।
4 Now Jeremias walked freely in the midst of the people: for they had not as yet cast him into prison.
हुनूज़ यरमियाह लोगों के बीच आया जाया करता था, क्यूँकि उन्होंने अभी उसे क़ैदख़ाने में नहीं डाला था।
5 And the army of Pharao was come out of Egypt: and the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem, hearing these tidings, departed from Jerusalem.
इस वक़्त फ़िर'औन की फ़ौज ने मिस्र से चढ़ाई की; और जब कसदियों ने जो येरूशलेम का घिराव किए थे इसकी शोहरत सुनी, तो वहाँ से चले गए।
6 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias the prophet, saying:
तब ख़ुदावन्द का यह कलाम यरमियाह नबी पर नाज़िल हुआ:
7 Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: Thus shall you say to the king of Juda, who sent you to inquire of me: Behold the army of Pharao, which is come forth to help you, shall return into their own land, into Egypt.
कि ख़ुदावन्द, इस्राईल का ख़ुदा, यूँ फ़रमाता है कि: तुम शाह — ए — यहूदाह से जिसने तुम को मेरी तरफ़ भेजा कि मुझसे दरियाफ़्त करो, यूँ कहना कि देख, फ़िर'औन की फ़ौज जो तुम्हारी मदद को निकली है, अपने मुल्क — ए — मिस्र को लौट जाएगी।
8 And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
और कसदी वापस आकर इस शहर से लड़ेंगे, और इसे फ़तह करके आग से जलाएँगे।
9 Thus saith the Lord: Deceive not your souls, saying: The Chaldeans shall surely depart and go away from us: for they shall not go away;
ख़ुदावन्द यूँ फ़रमाता है कि: तुम यह कह कर अपने आपको फ़रेब न दो, कसदी ज़रूर हमारे पास से चले जाएँगे, क्यूँकि वह न जाएँगे।
10 But if you should even beat all the army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there should be left of them some wounded men: they shall rise up, every man from his tent, and burn this city with Are.
और अगरचे तुम कसदियों की तमाम फ़ौज को जो तुम से लड़ती है, ऐसी शिकस्त देते कि उनमें से सिर्फ़ ज़ख़्मी बाक़ी रहते, तो भी वह सब अपने — अपने ख़ेमे से उठते और इस शहर को जला देते।
11 Now when the army of the Chaldeans was gone away from Jerusalem, because of Pharao’s army,
और जब कसदियों की फ़ौज फ़िर'औन की फ़ौज के डर से येरूशलेम के सामने से रवाना हो गई,
12 Jeremias went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin: and to divide a possession there in the presence of the citizens.
तो यरमियाह येरूशलेम से निकला कि बिनयमीन के 'इलाक़े में जाकर वहाँ लोगों के बीच अपना हिस्सा ले।
13 And when he was come to the gate of Benjamin, the captain of the gate, who I was there in his turn, was one named Jerias, the son of Selemias, the son of Hananias: and he took hold of Jeremias the prophet, saying: Thou art fleeing to the Chaldeans.
और जब वह बिनयमीन के फाटक पर पहुँचा, तो वहाँ पहरेवालों का दारोग़ा था, जिसका नाम इर्रियाह — बिन — सलमियाह — बिन — हननियाह था, और उसने यरमियाह नबी को पकड़ा और कहा तू क़सदियों की तरफ़ भागा जाता है।
14 And Jeremias answered: It is not so, I am not fleeing to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Jerias took Jeremias and brought him to the princes.
तब यरमियाह ने कहा, यह झूट है; मैं कसदियों की तरफ़ भागा नहीं जाता हूँ, लेकिन उसने उसकी एक न सुनी; तब इर्रियाह यरमियाह को पकड़ कर हाकिम के पास लाया।
15 Wherefore the princes were angry with Jeremias, and they beat him, and cast him into the prison that was in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for he was chief over the prison.
और हाकिम यरमियाह पर ग़ज़बनाक हुए और उसे मारा, और यूनतन मुन्शी के घर में उसे क़ैद किया; क्यूँकि उन्होंने उस घर को क़ैदख़ाना बना रख्खा था।
16 So Jeremias went into the house of the prison, and into the dungeon: and Jeremias remained there many days.
जब यरमियाह क़ैदख़ाने में और उसके तहख़ानों में दाख़िल होकर बहुत दिनों तक वहाँ रह चुका;
17 Then Sedecias the king, sending, took him: and asked him secretly in his house, and said: Is there, thinkest thou, any word from the Lord? And Jeremias said: There is. And he said: Thou shalt be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon.
तो सिदक़ियाह बादशाह ने आदमी भेजकर उसे निकलवाया, और अपने महल में उससे ख़ुफ़िया तौर से दरियाफ़्त किया कि “क्या ख़ुदावन्द की तरफ़ से कोई कलाम है?” और यरमियाह ने कहा है कि “क्यूँकि उसने फ़रमाया है कि तू शाह — ए — बाबुल के हवाले किया जाएगा।”
18 And Jeremias said to king Sedecias: In what have I offended against thee, or thy servants, or thy people, that thou hast cast me into prison?
और यरमियाह ने सिदक़ियाह बादशाह से कहा, मैंने तेरा, और तेरे मुलाज़िमों का, और इन लोगों का क्या गुनाह किया है कि तुमने मुझे क़ैदख़ाने में डाला है?
19 Where are your prophets that prophesied to you, and said: The king of Babylon shall not come against you, and against this land?
अब तुम्हारे नबी कहाँ हैं, जो तुम से नबुव्वत करते और कहते थे, 'शाह — ए — बाबुल तुम पर और इस मुल्क पर चढ़ाई नहीं करेगा'?
20 Now therefore hear, I beseech thee, my lord the king: let my petition be accepted in thy sight: and send me not back into the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
अब ऐ बादशाह, मेरे आक़ा मेरी सुन; मेरी दरख़्वास्त क़ुबूल फ़रमा और मुझे यूनतन मुन्शी के घर में वापस न भेज, ऐसा न हो कि मैं वहाँ मर जाऊँ।
21 Then king Sedecias commanded that Jeremias should be committed into the entry of the prison: and that they should give him daily a piece of bread, beside broth, till all the bread in the city were spent: and Jeremias remained in the entry of the prison.
तब सिदक़ियाह बादशाह ने हुक्म दिया, और उन्होंने यरमियाह को क़ैदख़ाने के सहन में रख्खा; और हर रोज़ उसे नानबाइयों के महल्ले से एक रोटी ले कर देते रहे, जब तक कि शहर में रोटी मिल सकती थी। इसलिए यरमियाह क़ैदख़ाने के सहन में रहा।
