Jeremiah 29
1 Now these are the words of the letter which Jeremias, the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the ancients that were carried into captivity, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nabuchodonosor had carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon:
Beginilah bunyi surat yang dikirim oleh nabi Yeremia dari Yerusalem kepada tua-tua di antara orang buangan, kepada imam-imam, kepada nabi-nabi dan kepada seluruh rakyat yang telah diangkut ke dalam pembuangan oleh Nebukadnezar dari Yerusalem ke Babel.
2 After that Jechonias the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, and the princes of Juda, and of Jerusalem, and the craftsman, and the engravers were departed out of Jerusalem:
Itu terjadi sesudah raja Yekhonya beserta ibu suri, pegawai-pegawai istana, pemuka-pemuka Yehuda dan Yerusalem, tukang dan pandai besi telah keluar dari Yerusalem.
3 By the hand of Elasa the son of Saphan, and Gamarias the son of Helcias, whom Sedecias king of Juda sent to Babylon to Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, saying:
Surat itu dikirim dengan perantaraan Elasa bin Safan dan Gemarya bin Hilkia yang diutus oleh Zedekia, raja Yehuda, ke Babel, kepada Nebukadnezar, raja Babel. Bunyinya:
4 Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, to all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon:
"Beginilah firman TUHAN semesta alam, Allah Israel, kepada semua orang buangan yang diangkut ke dalam pembuangan dari Yerusalem ke Babel:
5 Build ye houses, and dwell in them: and plant orchards, and eat the fruit of them.
Dirikanlah rumah untuk kamu diami; buatlah kebun untuk kamu nikmati hasilnya;
6 Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters: and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, and let them bear sons and daughters: and be ye multiplied there, and be not few in number.
ambillah isteri untuk memperanakkan anak laki-laki dan perempuan; ambilkanlah isteri bagi anakmu laki-laki dan carikanlah suami bagi anakmu perempuan, supaya mereka melahirkan anak laki-laki dan perempuan, agar di sana kamu bertambah banyak dan jangan berkurang!
7 And seek the peace of the city, to which I have caused you to be carried away captives; and pray to the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall be your peace.
Usahakanlah kesejahteraan kota ke mana kamu Aku buang, dan berdoalah untuk kota itu kepada TUHAN, sebab kesejahteraannya adalah kesejahteraanmu.
8 For thus saith the Lord of hoses the God of Israel: Let not your prophets that are in the midst of you, and your diviners deceive you: and give no heed to your dreams which you dream:
Sungguh, beginilah firman TUHAN semesta alam, Allah Israel: Janganlah kamu diperdayakan oleh nabi-nabimu yang ada di tengah-tengahmu dan oleh juru-juru tenungmu, dan janganlah kamu dengarkan mimpi-mimpi yang mereka mimpikan!
9 For they prophesy falsely to you in my name: and I have not sent them, saith the Lord.
Sebab mereka bernubuat palsu kepadamu demi nama-Ku. Aku tidak mengutus mereka, demikianlah firman TUHAN.
10 For thus saith the Lord: When the seventy years shall begin to be accomplished in Babylon, I will visit you: and I will perform my good word in your favour, to bring you again to this place.
Sebab beginilah firman TUHAN: Apabila telah genap tujuh puluh tahun bagi Babel, barulah Aku memperhatikan kamu. Aku akan menepati janji-Ku itu kepadamu dengan mengembalikan kamu ke tempat ini.
11 For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of affliction, to give you an end and patience.
Sebab Aku ini mengetahui rancangan-rancangan apa yang ada pada-Ku mengenai kamu, demikianlah firman TUHAN, yaitu rancangan damai sejahtera dan bukan rancangan kecelakaan, untuk memberikan kepadamu hari depan yang penuh harapan.
12 And you shall call upon me, and you shall go: and you shall pray to me, and I will hear you.
Dan apabila kamu berseru dan datang untuk berdoa kepada-Ku, maka Aku akan mendengarkan kamu;
13 You shall seek me, and shall And me: when you shall seek me with all your heart.
apabila kamu mencari Aku, kamu akan menemukan Aku; apabila kamu menanyakan Aku dengan segenap hati,
14 And I will be found by you, saith the Lord: and I will bring back your captivity, and I will gather you out of all nations, and from all the places to which I have driven you out, saith the Lord: and I will bring you back from the place to which I caused you to be carried away captive.
Aku akan memberi kamu menemukan Aku, demikianlah firman TUHAN, dan Aku akan memulihkan keadaanmu dan akan mengumpulkan kamu dari antara segala bangsa dan dari segala tempat ke mana kamu telah Kuceraiberaikan, demikianlah firman TUHAN, dan Aku akan mengembalikan kamu ke tempat yang dari mana Aku telah membuang kamu. --
15 Because you have said: The Lord hath raised us up prophets in Babylon:
Memang kamu berkata: TUHAN telah membangkitkan nabi-nabi bagi kami di Babel. --
16 For thus saith the Lord to the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and to all the people that dwell in this city, to your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity.
Sungguh, beginilah firman TUHAN tentang raja yang duduk di atas takhta Daud dan tentang seluruh rakyat yang diam di kota ini, yakni saudara-saudaramu yang tidak keluar beserta kamu ke dalam pembuangan:
17 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Behold I will send upon them the sword, and the famine, and the pestilence: and I will make them like bad figs that cannot be eaten, because they are very bad.
Beginilah firman TUHAN semesta alam: Sesungguhnya, Aku akan mengirim pedang, kelaparan dan penyakit sampar ke antara mereka, dan Aku akan membuat mereka seperti buah ara yang busuk dan demikian jeleknya, sehingga tidak dapat dimakan.
18 And I will persecute them with the sword, and with famine, and pith the pestilence: and I will give them up unto affliction to all the kingdoms of the earth: to be a curse, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach to all the nations to which I have driven them out:
Aku akan mengejar mereka dengan pedang, kelaparan dan penyakit sampar, dan Aku akan membuat mereka menjadi kengerian bagi segala kerajaan di bumi, menjadi kutuk, kedahsyatan, suitan dan aib di antara segala bangsa ke mana mereka Kuceraiberaikan,
19 Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the Lord: which I sent to them by my servants the prophets, rising by night, and sending: and you have not heard, saith the Lord.
sebagai ganjaran bahwa mereka tidak mendengarkan perkataan-Ku, demikianlah firman TUHAN, yang telah Kusampaikan kepada mereka terus-menerus dengan perantaraan hamba-hamba-Ku, yakni para nabi; tetapi kamu tidak mendengarkannya, demikianlah firman TUHAN.
20 Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent out from Jerusalem to Babylon.
Tetapi dengarkanlah firman TUHAN, hai kamu semua orang buangan, yang telah Kukirim dari Yerusalem ke Babel!
21 Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, to Achab the son of Colias, and to Sedecias the son of Maasias, who prophesy unto you in my name falsely: Behold I will deliver them up into the hands of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon: and he shall kill them before your eyes.
Beginilah firman TUHAN semesta alam, Allah Israel, tentang Ahab bin Kolaya dan tentang Zedekia bin Maaseya, orang-orang yang bernubuat palsu kepadamu demi nama-Ku: Sesungguhnya Aku akan menyerahkan mereka ke dalam tangan Nebukadnezar, raja Babel, yang akan memarang mereka mati di depan matamu sendiri,
22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Juda, that are in Babylon, saying: The Lord make thee like Sedecias, and like Achab, whom the king of Babylon fried in the fire:
sehingga dari keadaan mereka akan dijadikan suatu kutuk oleh semua orang buangan dari Yehuda yang ada di Babel, demikian: Biarlah TUHAN memperlakukan kamu seperti Zedekia dan Ahab yang telah dipanggang oleh raja negeri Babel di dalam api!,
23 Because they have acted folly in Israel, and have committed adultery with the wives of their friends, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I commanded them not: I am the judge and the witness, saith the Lord.
oleh karena mereka telah melakukan kebebalan di Israel, telah berzinah dengan isteri sesama mereka dan telah mengucapkan demi nama-Ku perkataan dusta yang tidak Kupesankan kepada mereka. Aku sendirilah yang mengetahui dan menyaksikannya, demikianlah firman TUHAN."
24 And to Semeias the Nehelamite thou shalt say:
Kepada Semaya, orang Nehelam itu, haruslah kaukatakan:
25 Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Because thou hast sent letters in thy name to all the people that are in Jerusalem, and to Sophonias the son of Maasias the priest, and to all the priests, saying:
"Beginilah firman TUHAN semesta alam, Allah Israel: Oleh sebab engkau telah mengirim surat atas namamu sendiri kepada seluruh rakyat yang ada di Yerusalem, yaitu kepada imam Zefanya bin Maaseya dan kepada segala imam, bunyinya:
26 The Lord hath made thee priest instead of Joiada the priest, that thou shouldst be ruler in the house of the Lord, over every man that raveth and prophesieth, to put him in the stocks, and into prison.
TUHAN telah mengangkat engkau, Zefanya, menjadi imam menggantikan imam Yoyada, supaya engkau menjadi pengawas di rumah TUHAN untuk memasungkan setiap orang gila yang menganggap dirinya nabi dan untuk merantai lehernya dengan besi.
27 And now why hast thou not rebuked Jeremias the Anathothite, who prophesieth to you?
Tetapi sekarang, mengapakah engkau tidak menegor Yeremia, orang Anatot itu, yang menganggap dirinya nabi di antaramu?
28 For he hath also sent to us in Babylon, saying: It is a long time: build ye houses, and dwell in them: and plant gardens, and eat the fruits of them.
Bukankah ia telah mengirim pesan kepada kami di Babel, katanya: Pembuanganmu masih lama. Dirikanlah rumah untuk kamu diami; buatlah kebun untuk kamu nikmati hasilnya!"
29 So Sophonias the priest read this letter, in the hearing of Jeremias the prophet.
Surat ini dibacakan oleh imam Zefanya ke telinga nabi Yeremia.
30 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias, saying:
Maka datanglah firman TUHAN kepada Yeremia, bunyinya:
31 Send to all them of the captivity, saying: Thus saith the Lord to Semeias the Nehelamite: Because Semeias hath prophesied to you, and I sent him not: and hath caused you to trust in a lie:
"Kirimlah pesan kepada semua orang buangan itu: Beginilah firman TUHAN tentang Semaya, orang Nehelam itu: Oleh karena Semaya telah bernubuat kepadamu, sekalipun Aku tidak mengutusnya, dan ia telah membuat kamu percaya kepada dusta,
32 Therefore thus saith the Lord: behold I will visit upon Semeias the Nehelamite, and upon his seed: he shall not have a man to sit in the midst of this people, and he shall not see the good that I will do to my people, saith the Lord: because he hath spoken treason against the Lord.
maka beginilah firman TUHAN: Sesungguhnya, Aku akan menghukum Semaya, orang Nehelam itu, dan keturunannya: tidak ada seorangpun dari keluarganya akan diam di tengah-tengah bangsa ini untuk melihat yang baik yang akan Kulakukan kepada umat-Ku, demikianlah firman TUHAN, sebab ia telah mengajak murtad terhadap TUHAN."
