Jeremiah 14
1 The Word of the Lord that came to Jeremias concerning the words of the drought.
വരൾച്ചയെക്കുറിച്ചു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം.
2 Judea hath mourned, and the gates thereof are fallen, and are become obscure on the ground, and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
യെഹൂദാ ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ പടിവാതില്ക്കൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നവൻ ക്ഷീണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ കറുപ്പുടുത്തു നിലത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നിലവിളി പൊങ്ങുന്നു.
3 The great ones sent their inferiors to the water: they came to draw, they found no water, they carried back their vessels empty: they were confounded and afflicted, and covered their heads.
അവരുടെ കുലീനന്മാർ അടിയാരെ വെള്ളത്തിന്നു അയക്കുന്നു; അവർ കുളങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നിട്ടു വെള്ളം കാണാതെ വെറുമ്പാത്രങ്ങളോടെ മടങ്ങി വരുന്നു; അവർ ലജ്ജിച്ചു വിഷണ്ണരായി തല മൂടുന്നു.
4 For the destruction of the land, because there came no rain upon the earth, the husbandmen were confounded, they covered their heads.
ദേശത്തു മഴയില്ലായ്കയാൽ നിലം ഉണങ്ങി വിണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ഉഴവുകാർ ലജ്ജിച്ചു തല മൂടുന്നു.
5 Yea, the hind also brought forth in the field, and left it, because there was no grass.
മാൻപേട വയലിൽ പ്രസവിച്ചിട്ടു പുല്ലില്ലായ്കയാൽ കുട്ടിയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
6 And the wild asses stood upon the rocks, they snuffed up the wind like dragons, their eyes failed, because there was no grass.
കാട്ടുകഴുത മൊട്ടക്കുന്നിന്മേൽ നിന്നു കൊണ്ടു കുറുനരികളെപ്പോലെ കിഴെക്കുന്നു; സസ്യങ്ങൾ ഇല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു അതിന്റെ കണ്ണു മങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു.
7 If our iniquities have testified against us, O Lord, do thou it for thy name’s sake, for our rebellions are many, we have sinned against thee.
യഹോവ, ഞങ്ങളുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വിരോധമായി സാക്ഷീകരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നിന്റെ നാമംനിമിത്തം പ്രവൎത്തിക്കേണമേ; ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിന്മാറ്റങ്ങൾ വളരെയാകുന്നു; ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
8 O expectation of Israel, the Saviour thereof in time of trouble: why wilt thou be a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man turning in to lodge?
യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശയും കഷ്ടകാലത്തു അവന്റെ രക്ഷിതാവും ആയുള്ളോവേ, നീ ദേശത്തു പരദേശിയെപ്പോലെയും ഒരു രാപാൎപ്പാൻ മാത്രം കൂടാരം അടിക്കുന്ന വഴിപോക്കനെപ്പോലെയും ആയിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു?
9 Why wilt thou be as a wandering man, as a mighty man that cannot save? but thou, O Lord, art among us, and thy name is called upon by us, forsake us not.
ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോയ പുരുഷനെപ്പോലെയും രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാത്ത വീരനെപ്പോലെയും ആയിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു? എന്നാലും യഹോവേ, നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ഉണ്ടു; നിന്റെ നാമം ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതേ.
10 Thus saith the Lord to his people, that have loved to move their feet, and have not rested, and have not pleased the Lord: He will now remember their iniquities, and visit their sins.
അവർ ഇങ്ങനെ ഉഴന്നു നടപ്പാൻ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു, കാൽ അടക്കിവെച്ചതുമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ ഈ ജനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവെക്കു അവരിൽ പ്രസാദമില്ല; അവൻ ഇപ്പോൾ തന്നെ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യത്തെ ഓൎത്തു അവരുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ സന്ദൎശിക്കും.
11 And the Lord said to me: Pray not for this people for their good.
യഹോവ എന്നോടു: നീ ഈ ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി അവരുടെ നന്മെക്കായി പ്രാൎത്ഥിക്കരുതു;
12 When they fast I will not hear their prayers: and if they offer holocausts and victims, I will not receive them: for I will consume them by the sword, and by famine, and by the pestilence.
അവർ ഉപവസിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അവരുടെ നിലവിളി കേൾക്കയില്ല; അവർ ഹോമയാഗവും ഭോജനയാഗവും അൎപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അവയിൽ പ്രസാദിക്കയില്ല; ഞാൻ അവരെ വാൾകൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടും മുടിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
13 And I said: Ah, ah, ah, O Lord God, the prophets say to them: You shall not see the sword, and there shall be no famine among you, but he will give you true peace in this place.
അതിന്നു ഞാൻ: അയ്യോ, യഹോവയായ കൎത്താവേ, നിങ്ങൾ വാൾ കാണുകയില്ല, നിങ്ങൾക്കു ക്ഷാമം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല, ഞാൻ ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു സ്ഥിരമായുള്ള സമാധാനം നിങ്ങൾക്കു നല്കും എന്നു പ്രവാചകന്മാർ അവരോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 And the Lord said to me: The prophets prophesy falsely in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, nor have I spoken to them: they prophesy unto you a lying vision, and divination and deceit, and the seduction of their own heart.
യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു: പ്രവാചകന്മാർ എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ ഭോഷ്കു പ്രവചിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ അവരെ അയച്ചിട്ടില്ല, അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ല, അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല; അവർ വ്യാജദൎശനവും പ്രശ്നവാക്യവും ഇല്ലാത്ത കാൎയ്യവും സ്വന്തഹൃദയത്തിലെ വഞ്ചനയും നിങ്ങളോടു പ്രവചിക്കുന്നു.
15 Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that prophecy in my name, whom I did not send, that say: Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ: ഞാൻ അയക്കാതെ എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ പ്രവചിക്കയും ഈ ദേശത്തു വാളും ക്ഷാമവും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ചു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: വാൾകൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും ആ പ്രവാചകന്മാർ മുടിഞ്ഞുപോകും;
16 And the people to whom they prophecy, shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword, and there shall be none to bury them: they and their wives, their sons and their daughters, and I will pour out their wickedness upon them.
അവരുടെ പ്രവചനം കേട്ട ജനമോ യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ വീഥികളിൽ ക്ഷാമവും വാളും ഹേതുവായിട്ടു വീണുകിടക്കും; അവരെയും അവരുടെ ഭാൎയ്യമാരെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും കുഴിച്ചിടുവാൻ ആരും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടത അവരുടെമേൽ പകരും.
17 And thou shalt speak this word to them: Let my eyes shed down tears night and day, and let them not cease, because the virgin daughter of my people is afflicted with a great affliction, with an exceeding grievous evil.
നീ ഈ വചനം അവരോടു പറയേണം: എന്റെ കണ്ണിൽനിന്നു രാവും പകലും ഇടവിടാതെ കണ്ണുനീർ ഒഴുകട്ടെ; എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രിയായ കന്യക കഠിനമായി തകൎന്നും വ്യസനകരമായി മുറിവേറ്റും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
18 If I go forth into the fields, behold the slain with the sword: and if I enter into the city, behold them that are consumed with famine. The prophet also and the priest are gone into a land which they knew not.
വയലിൽ ചെന്നാൽ ഇതാ, വാൾകൊണ്ടു പട്ടുപോയവർ; പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നാൽ ഇതാ, ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടു പാടുപെടുന്നവർ പ്രവാചകനും പുരോഹിതനും ഒരുപോലെ തങ്ങൾ അറിയാത്ത ദേശത്തു അലഞ്ഞുനടക്കുന്നു.
19 Hast thou utterly cast away Juda, or hath thy soul abhorred Sion? why then hast thou struck us, so that there is no healing for us? we have looked for peace, and there is no good: and for the time of healing, and behold trouble.
നീ യെഹൂദയെ കേവലം ത്യജിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞുവോ? നിനക്കു സീയോനോടു വെറുപ്പു തോന്നുന്നുവോ? പൊറുപ്പാകാതവണ്ണം നീ ഞങ്ങളെ മുറിവേല്പിച്ചതെന്തിന്നു? ഞങ്ങൾ സമാധാനത്തിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നു; ഒരു ഗുണവും വന്നില്ല! രോഗശമനത്തിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ ഇതാ, ഭീതി!
20 We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness, the iniquities of our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
യഹോവേ ഞങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടതയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അകൃത്യവും അറിയുന്നു; ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
21 Give us not to be a reproach, for thy name’s sake, and do not disgrace in us the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
നിന്റെ നാമം നിമിത്തം ഞങ്ങളെ തള്ളിക്കളയരുതേ; നിന്റെ മഹത്വമുള്ള സിംഹാസനത്തിന്നു ഹീനത വരുത്തരുതേ; ഓൎക്കേണമേ, ഞങ്ങളോടുള്ള നിന്റെ നിയമത്തിന്നു ഭംഗം വരുത്തരുതേ.
22 Are there any among the graven things of the Gentiles that can send rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou the Lord our God, whom we have looked for? for thou hast made all these things.
ജാതികളുടെ മിത്ഥ്യാമൂൎത്തികളിൽ മഴ പെയ്യിക്കുന്നവർ ഉണ്ടോ? അല്ല, ആകാശമോ വൎഷം നല്കുന്നതു? ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, അതു നീ തന്നേ അല്ലയോ? നിനക്കായി ഞങ്ങൾ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇവയെ ഒക്കെയും സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു നീയല്ലോ.
