Jeremiah 12
1 Thou indeed, O Lord, art just, if I plead with thee, but yet I will speak what is just to thee: Why doth the way of the wicked prosper: why is it well with all them that transgress, and do wickedly?
主よ、わたしがあなたと論じ争う時、あなたは常に正しい。しかしなお、わたしはあなたの前に、さばきのことを論じてみたい。悪人の道がさかえ、不信実な者がみな繁栄するのはなにゆえですか。
2 Thou hast planted them, and they have taken root: they prosper and bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins.
あなたが彼らを植えられたので、彼らは根づき、育って、実を結びます。彼らは口ではあなたに近づきますが、心はあなたから遠ざかっています。
3 And thou, O Lord, hast known me, thou hast seen me, and proved my heart with thee: gather them together as sheep for a sacrifice, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
主よ、あなたはわたしを知り、わたしを見、わたしの心があなたに対していかにあるかを試みられます。ほふるために羊を引き出すように、彼らを引き出し、殺す日にそなえて、彼らを残しておいてください。
4 How long shall the land mourn, and the herb of every field wither for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? The beasts and the birds are consumed: because they have said: He shall not see our last end.
いつまで、この地は嘆き、どの畑の野菜も枯れていてよいでしょうか。この地に住む者の悪によって、獣と鳥は滅びうせます。人々は言いました、「彼はわれわれの終りを見ることはない」と。
5 If thou hast wearied with running with footmen, how canst thou contend with horses? and if thou hast been secure in a land of peace, what wilt thou do in the swelling of the Jordan?
「もしあなたが、徒歩の人と競争して疲れるなら、どうして騎馬の人と競うことができようか。もし安全な地で、あなたが倒れるなら、ヨルダンの密林では、どうするつもりか。
6 For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have fought against thee, and have cried after thee with full voice: believe them not when they speak good things to thee.
あなたの兄弟たち、あなたの父の家のものさえ、あなたを欺き、大声をあげて、あなたを追っている。彼らが親しげにあなたに語ることがあっても、彼らを信じてはならない」。
7 I have forsaken my house, I have left my inheritance: I have given my dear soul into the land of her enemies.
「わたしはわが家を離れ、わが嗣業を捨て、わが魂の愛する者を敵の手に渡した。
8 My inheritance is become to me as a lion in the wood: is hath cried out against me, therefore have I hated it.
わたしの嗣業は、わたしにとって林の中のししのようになった。これはわたしに向かってその声をあげる。それゆえわたしはこれを憎む。
9 Is my inheritance to me as a speckled bird? Is it as a bird died throughout? come ye, assemble yourselves, all the beasts of the earth, make haste to devour.
わたしの嗣業は、わたしにとって、斑点のある猛禽のようではないか。他の猛禽がこれを囲んでいるではないか。行って、野の獣をみな集め、連れてきてこれを食べさせよ。
10 Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot: they have changed my delightful portion into a desolate wilderness.
多くの牧者たちはわたしのぶどう畑を滅ぼし、わたしの地を踏み荒した。わたしの麗しい地を荒れた野にした。
11 They have laid it waste, and it hath mourned for me. With desolation is all the land made desolate; because there is none that considereth in the heart.
彼らはこれを荒れ地としてしまった。その荒れ地がわたしに向かって嘆くのだ。全地は荒れ地にされた。しかし、ひとりもこれを心に留める者はない。
12 The spoilers are come upon all the ways of the wilderness, for the sword of the Lord shall devour from one end of the land to the other end thereof: there is no peace for all flesh.
滅ぼす者どもが荒野のすべての、はげ山の上にきた。主のつるぎが、地の、この果から、かの果までを滅ぼすのだ。命あるものは安らかであることができない。
13 They have sown wheat, and reaped thorns: they have received an inheritance, and it shall not profit them: you shall be ashamed of your fruits, because of the fierce wrath of the Lord.
彼らは麦をまいて、いばらを刈り取る。苦労してもなんの利益もない。彼らはその収穫を恥じるようになる。主の激しい怒りによってである」。
14 Thus saith the Lord against all my wicked neighbors, that touch the inheritance that I have shared out to my people Israel: Behold I will pluck them out of their land, and I will pluck the house of Juda out of the midst of them.
わたしがわが民イスラエルにつがせた嗣業に手を触れるすべての悪い隣り人について、主はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしは彼らをその地から抜き出し、ユダの家を彼らのうちから抜き出す。
15 And when I shall have plucked them out, I will return, and have mercy on them: and I will bring them back, every man to his inheritance, and every man to his land.
わたしは、彼らを抜き出したのちに、また彼らをあわれんで、それぞれその嗣業に導き返し、おのおのを、その地に帰らせる。
16 And it shall come to pass, if they will be taught, and will learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name: The Lord liveth, as they have taught my people to swear by baal: that they shall be built up in the midst of my people.
もし彼らがわたしの民の道を学び、わたしの名によって、『主は生きておられる』と言って誓うことが、かつて彼らがわたしの民に教えてバアルをさして誓わせたようになるならば、彼らはわたしの民のうちに建てられる。
17 But if they will not hear, I will utterly pluck out and destroy that nation, saith the Lord.
しかし耳をかさない民があるときは、わたしはその民を抜き出して滅ぼすと、主は言われる」。
