< James 3 >

1 Be ye not many masters, my brethren, knowing that you receive the greater judgment.
Jowetena, kik joma thoth kuomu ketre mar bedo jopuonj, nikech ungʼeyo ni wan mwapuonjo nongʼadnwa bura malit moloyo ji mamoko.
2 For in many things we all offend. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man. He is able also with a bridle to lead about the whole body.
Wan duto wachwanyore e yore mangʼeny. Ka weche ma ngʼato wacho ok mi obed jaketho to en ngʼat malongʼo kendo onyalo chiko ringre duto mondo owinje.
3 For if we put bits into the mouths of horses, that they may obey us, and we turn about their whole body.
Ka waketo ratege e dho farese mondo omi giwinjwa, to wanyalo chiko ringregi kamoro amora ma wadwaro.
4 Behold also ships, whereas they are great, and are driven by strong winds, yet are they turned about with a small helm, whithersoever the force of the governor willeth.
Bende wanyalo kawo yiedhi madongo kaka ranyisi. Kata obedo ni gidongo miwuoro kendo iriembogi gi yembe man-gi teko madongo, to pod ichikogi mana gi ngai matin nono mi gichom kamoro amora ma jakwangʼ yie dwaro ni gidhiye.
5 Even so the tongue is indeed a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold how small a fire kindleth a great wood.
Mano bende kaka lep en fuoni matin nono e dend dhano, to onyalo sungore miwuoro. Parie kaka pilni mach matin nono nyalo moko mach mi wangʼ bungu maduongʼ!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is placed among our members, which defileth the whole body, and inflameth the wheel of our nativity, being set on fire by hell. (Geenna g1067)
Lep bende en mach kendo piny mopongʼ gi richo e kind fuonde duto mag ringruok. Oketho ringruok duto ka omoko mach mawangʼo ngima dhano duto mi chop en owuon bende wangʼe e Gehena. (Geenna g1067)
7 For every nature of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of the rest, is tamed, and hath been tamed, by the nature of man:
Kit le duto gi winy mafuyo gi gik mamol kaachiel gi chwech Nyasaye duto manie nam, dhano nyalo boyo kendo oseboyo,
8 But the tongue no man can tame, an unquiet evil, full of deadly poison.
to onge ngʼama nyalo boyo lep. En gima rach ma ok ywe mopongʼ gi kwiri marach.
9 By it we bless God and the Father: and by it we curse men, who are made after the likeness of God.
Lep achielni ema wapakogo Ruodhwa kendo Wuonwa, en bende ema wakwongʼogo ji mochwe e kit Nyasaye.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Pak kod kwongʼ wuok e dhok achielno! Jowetena, gima kamano ok onego otimre.
11 Doth a fountain send forth, out of the same hole, sweet and bitter water?
Bende pi mamit gi pi makech nyalo wuok e soko achiel?
12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear grapes; or the vine, figs? So neither can the salt water yield sweet.
Jowetena, bende yiend ngʼowu nyalo nyago zeituni? Koso mzabibu bende nyalo nyago ngʼowu? Kamano bende e kaka pi makech ok nyal lokore pi mamit.
13 Who is a wise man, and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew, by a good conversation, his work in the meekness of wisdom.
En ngʼat mane e dieru mikwano ni riek kendo ni winjo tiend weche? Ngʼat ma kamano mondo onyis riekone kuom kit ngimane maber kendo kuom timbe motimo gi muolo mawuok kuom rieko ma en-go.
14 But if you have bitter zeal, and there be contentions in your hearts; glory not, and be not liars against the truth.
To kapo ni upando nyiego mopongʼ gi mirima, gi gombo maricho mag chopo ichlit ma un-go e chunyu, to kik usungru kuom dwarou marichogo kukwedo adiera.
15 For this is not wisdom, descending from above: but earthly, sensual, devilish.
Rieko machal kamano ok oa e polo, to en mar piny kendo ok okony chuny dhano, en rieko jachien.
16 For where envying and contention is, there is inconstancy, and every evil work.
Nikech kama nyiego gi piem nitie e kama koko gi timbe maricho duto nitie.
17 But the wisdom, that is from above, first indeed is chaste, then peaceable, modest, easy to be persuaded, consenting to the good, full of mercy and good fruits, without judging, without dissimulation.
To rieko moa e polo ok chal kamano. Mokwongo oler, kendo ohero kwe, odembore, owinjo wach, opongʼ gi kech kod olembe mabeyo, ok odew wangʼ, kendo oonge miganga.
18 And the fruit of justice is sown in peace, to them that make peace.
Jokel kwe machwoyo koth kwe kayo tim makare.
