Isaiah 5
1 I will sing to my beloved the canticle of my cousin concerning his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a hill in a fruitful place.
Déjenme cantar para mi bien amado una canción de mi amado sobre su viña. Mi amado tenía un viñedo en una colina muy fructífera.
2 And he fenced it in, and picked the stones out of it, and planted it with the choicest vines, and built a tower in the midst thereof, and set up a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it broutht forth wild grapes.
Lo desenterró, recogió sus piedras, la plantó con la vid más selecta, construyó una torre en el centro, y también recortó una prensa de vino en ella. Buscó que diera uvas, pero dio uvas silvestres.
3 And now, O ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and ye men of Juda, judge between me and my vineyard.
“Ahora, habitantes de Jerusalén y hombres de Judá, por favor, juzga entre mi viña y yo.
4 What is there that I ought to do more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it?
¿Qué más se puede hacer a mi viña que no haya hecho yo en ella? ¿Por qué, cuando busqué que diera uvas, dio uvas silvestres?
5 And now I will shew you wnat I will do to my vineyard. I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be wasted: I will break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down.
Ahora te diré lo que haré con mi viña. Quitaré su seto y será devorado. Derribaré su muro, y será pisoteado.
6 And I will make it desolate: it shall not be pruned, and it shall not be digged: but briers and thorns shall come up: and I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it.
La convertiré en un páramo. No se podará ni se azadonará, pero le crecerán zarzas y espinas. También ordenaré a las nubes que no llueva sobre él”.
7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel: and the man of Juda, his pleasant plant: and I looked that he should do judgment, and behold iniquity: and do justice, and behold a cry.
Porque la viña del Señor de los Ejércitos es la casa de Israel, y los hombres de Judá su planta agradable. Buscó la justicia, pero he aquí la opresión, por la justicia, pero he aquí un grito de angustia.
8 Woe to you that join house to house and lay field to field, even to the end of the place: shall you alone dwell in the midst of the earth?
Ay de los que se unen de casa en casa, que se acuestan campo a campo, hasta que no hay espacio, ¡y se te hace habitar solo en medio de la tierra!
9 These things are in my ears, saith the Lord of hosts: unless many great and fair houses shall become desolate, without an inhabitant.
En mis oídos, el Señor de los Ejércitos dice: “Seguramente muchas casas quedarán desoladas, incluso grande y hermosa, desocupada.
10 For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one little measure, and thirty bushels of seed shall yield three bushels.
Por diez acres de viñedo se producirá un baño, y un homer de semilla dará un efa”.
11 Woe to you that rise up early in the morning to follow drunkenness, and to drink till the evening, to be inflamed with wine.
Ay de los que se levantan de madrugada para seguir la bebida fuerte, que se quedan hasta altas horas de la noche, ¡hasta que el vino los enardece!
12 The harp, and the lyre, and the timbrel, and the pipe, and wine are in your feasts: and the work of the Lord you regard not, nor do you consider the works of his hands.
El arpa, la lira, la pandereta y la flauta, con vino, están en sus fiestas; pero no respetan la obra de Yahvé, ni han considerado la operación de sus manos.
13 Therefore is my people led away captive, because they had not knowledge, and their nobles have perished with famine, and their multitude were dried up with thirst.
Por eso mi pueblo va al cautiverio por falta de conocimiento. Sus honorables hombres están hambrientos, y sus multitudes están muertas de sed.
14 Therefore hath hell enlarged her soul, and opened her mouth without any bounds, and their strong ones, and their people, and their high and glorious ones shall go down into it. (Sheol h7585)
Por lo tanto, el Seol ha ampliado su deseo, y abrió su boca sin medida; y su gloria, su multitud, su pompa, y el que se regocija entre ellos, descienden a ella. (Sheol h7585)
15 And man shall be brought down, and man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be brought low.
Así el hombre se rebaja, la humanidad es humilde, y los ojos de los arrogantes se humillan;
16 And the Lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and the holy God shall be sanctified in justice.
pero Yahvé de los Ejércitos es exaltado en la justicia, y Dios el Santo es santificado en justicia.
17 And the lambs shall feed according to their order, and strangers shall eat the deserts turned into fruitfulness.
Entonces los corderos pastarán como en su pasto, y los extraños comerán las ruinas de los ricos.
18 Woe to you that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as the rope of a cart.
Ay de los que atraen la iniquidad con cuerdas de mentira, y la maldad como con cuerda de carreta,
19 That say: Let him make haste, and let his work come quickly, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel come, that we may know it.
que dicen: “Que se apresure, que acelere su obra, para que la veamos; que el consejo del Santo de Israel se acerque y venga, para que lo conozcamos”.
20 Woe to you that call evil good, and good evil: that put darkness for light, and light for darkness: that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.
Ay de los que llaman bueno al mal y malo al bien; que puso la oscuridad por la luz, y la luz para la oscuridad; que puso lo amargo por lo dulce, ¡y dulce por amargo!
21 Woe to you that rue wise in your own eyes, and prudent in your own conceits.
Ay de los que son sabios a sus propios ojos, ¡y prudente ante sus propios ojos!
22 Woe to you that are mighty to drink wine, and stout men at drunkenness.
Ay de los que son poderosos para beber vino, y campeones en la mezcla de bebidas fuertes;
23 That justify the wicked for gifts, and take away the justice of the just from him.
que absuelven a los culpables a cambio de un soborno, ¡pero negar la justicia a los inocentes!
24 Therefore as the tongue of the fire devoureth the stubble, and the heat of the dame consumeth it: so shall their root be as ashes, and their bud shall go up as dust: for they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and have blasphemed the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Por eso, como la lengua de fuego devora el rastrojo, y como la hierba seca se hunde en la llama, por lo que su raíz será como la podredumbre, y su flor se convertirá en polvo, porque han rechazado la ley de Yahvé de los Ejércitos, y despreciaron la palabra del Santo de Israel.
25 Therefore is the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched out his hand upon them, and struck them: and the mountains were troubled, and their carcasses became as dung in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Por eso la ira de Yahvé arde contra su pueblo, y ha extendido su mano contra ellos y los ha golpeado. Las montañas tiemblan, y sus cadáveres son como basura en medio de las calles. Por todo esto, su ira no se desvía, pero su mano sigue extendida.
26 And he will lift up a sign to the nations afar off, and will whistle to them from the ends of the earth: and behold they shall come with speed swiftly.
Él levantará un estandarte a las naciones desde muy lejos, y les silbará desde el fin de la tierra. He aquí que vendrán rápida y velozmente.
27 There is none that shall faint, nor labour among them: they shall not slumber nor sleep, neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken.
Nadie se cansará ni tropezará entre ellos; nadie se adormecerá ni dormirá, ni se desatará el cinturón de su cintura, ni se rompa la correa de sus sandalias,
28 Their arrows are sharp, and all their bows are bent. The hoofs of their horses shall be like the hint, and their wheels like the violence of a tempest.
cuyas flechas son afiladas, y todos sus arcos doblados. Los cascos de sus caballos serán como el pedernal, y sus ruedas como un torbellino.
29 Their roaring like that of a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea they shall roar, and take hold of the prey, and they shall keep fast hold of it, and there shall be none to deliver it.
Su rugido será como el de una leona. Rugirán como jóvenes leones. Sí, rugirán, y agarrar su presa y llevársela, y no habrá nadie que lo entregue.
30 And they shall make a noise against them that day, like the roaring of the sea; we shall look towards the land, and behold darkness of tribulation, and the light is darkened with the mist thereof.
En aquel día rugirán contra ellos como el rugido del mar. Si uno mira a la tierra, he aquí la oscuridad y la angustia. La luz se oscurece en sus nubes.
