< Isaiah 47 >
1 Come down, sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne for the daughter of the Chaldeans, for thou shalt no more be called delicate and tender.
“Yaa intala Baabilon Durba Qulqullittii, gad buʼi; awwaara irra taaʼi; yaa Intala Baabilonotaa, teessoo malee lafa taaʼi! Ati siʼachi bareedduu yookaan kichuu jedhamtee hin waamamtu.
2 Take a millstone and grind meal: uncover thy shame, strip thy shoulder, make bare thy legs, pass over the rivers.
Dhagaa daakuu fudhadhuutii midhaan daaki; haguuggii kee of irraa fuudhi. Wandaboo kee soqoladhu; gudeeda kee mulʼisi; laga ceʼi.
3 Thy nakedness shall be discovered, and thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and no man shall resist me.
Qullaan kee ifatti ni baʼa; qaaniin kees hin dhokatu. Ani haaloo nan baʼa; ani nama tokko iyyuu hin dhiisu.”
4 Our redeemer, the Lord of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
Furiin keenya maqaan isaa Waaqayyoo Waan Hunda Dandaʼuu dha; inni Qulqullicha Israaʼel.
5 Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called the lady of kingdoms.
“Yaa Intala Baabilonotaa, calʼisii taaʼiitii dukkana seeni; ati siʼachi mootittii mootummootaa jedhamtee hin waamamtu.
6 I was angry with my people, I have polluted my inheritance, and have given them into thy bend: thou hast shewn no mercy to them: upon the ancient thou hast laid thy yoke exceeding heavy.
Ani saba kootti dheekkameera; handhuuraa koos xureesseera; ani dabarsee harka keetti isaan kenneera; atis garaa hin laafneef. Warra dullooman irra iyyuu waanjoo ulfaataa keesse.
7 And thou hast said: I shall be a lady for ever: thou hast not laid these things to thy heart, neither hast thou remembered thy latter end.
Ati, ‘Ani bara baraan itti fufee mootittii bara baraa nan taʼa!’ jette. Ati garuu wantoota kana hin hubanne yookaan dhumni isaanii maal akka taʼu hin yaadanne.
8 And now hear these things, thou that art delicate, and dwellest confidently, that sayest in thy heart: I am, and there is none else besides me: I shall not sit as a widow, and I shall not know barrenness.
“Ammas yaa ishee qananiituu, kan nagaan jiraattee garaa kee keessattis, ‘Anuma; ana malee tokko iyyuu hin jiru; ani siʼachi haadha hiyyeessaa yookaan nama dhalee dhabe hin taʼu’ ofiin jettu dhagaʼi.
9 These two things shall come upon thee suddenly in one day, barrenness and widowhood. All things are come upon thee, because of the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great hardness of thy enchanters.
Wantoonni kunneen lamaan, dhalanii dhabuu fi haadha hiyyeessaa taʼuun akkuma tasaa guyyuma tokkotti sitti dhufu. Isaan baayʼina falfala keetiitii fi tolcha kee cimaa sanaa hunda irraan iyyuu humna isaanii guutuudhaan sitti dhufu.
10 And thou best trusted in thy wickedness, and hast said: There is none that seeth me. Thy wisdom, and thy knowledge, this hath deceived thee. And thou best said in thy heart: I am, and besides me there is no other.
Ati hammina kee amanattee, ‘Namni tokko iyyuu na hin argu’ jette. Yeroo ati garaa kee keessatti, ‘Ana; ana malee namni biraa hin jiru’ jettutti, ogummaa fi beekumsi kee si dogoggorsu.
11 Evil shall come upon thee, and then shalt not know the rising thereof: and calamity shall fall violently upon thee, which thou canst not keep off: misery shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.
Wanni hamaan sitti dhufa; ati immoo eessaa akka inni dhufu hin beektu. Balaan ati of irraa ittisuu hin dandeenye tokko sitti dhufa; badiisni ati duraan dursitee hin beekin akkuma tasaa sitti dhufa.
12 Stand now with thy enchanters, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, in which thou hast laboured from thy youth, if so be it may profit thee any thing, or if thou mayst become stronger.
“Yoos ati tolcha keetii fi falfala kee baayʼee ijoollummaa keetii jalqabdee itti dadhabde sana jabeessii eegi. Yoo akkas taʼe ati ni milkoofta; yoo akkas taʼe nama ni sodaachifta taʼa.
13 Thou hast failed in the multitude or thy counsels: let now the astrologers stand and save thee, they that gazed at the stars, and counted the months, that from them they might tell the things that shall come to thee.
Gorsi ati argatte hundi dadhabbii qofa sitti fide! Urjii lakkooftonni kee warri jiʼa jiʼaan urjii ilaalanii raajan sun, mee waan sitti dhufu duraa si haa baasan kaa.
14 Behold they are as stubble, fire hath burnt them, they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the dames: there are no coals wherewith they may be warmed, nor fire, that they may sit thereat.
Dhugumaan isaan akkuma cidii ti; ibiddi isaan guba. Isaan mataa isaanii iyyuu, humna arraba ibiddaa jalaa baasuu hin dandaʼan. Barbadaan ibiddaa kan namni hoʼifatu tokko iyyuu hin jiru; ibiddi bira taaʼanis hin argamu.
15 Such are all the things become to thee, in which thou best laboured: thy merchants from thy youth, every one hath erred in his own way, there is none that can save thee.
Wanni warri ati wajjin dadhabdee ijoollummaa keetii jalqabdee wajjin daldalte sun siif gochuu dandaʼan kanuma. Tokkoon tokkoon isaanii dogoggora isaanii itti fufan; kan si baasuu dandaʼu tokko iyyuu hin jiru.
