Isaiah 28
1 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower the glory of his joy, who were on the head of the fat valley, staggering with wine.
੧ਹਾਏ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਘਮੰਡ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਟ ਉੱਤੇ! ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਸੁਹੱਪਣ ਦੇ ਕੁਮਲਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਫੁੱਲ ਉੱਤੇ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੇਹੋਸ਼ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਫਲਦਾਰ ਘਾਟੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ!
2 Behold the Lord is mighty and strong, as a storm of hail: a destroying whirlwind, as the violence of many waters overflowing, and sent forth upon a spacious land.
੨ਵੇਖੋ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਤਕੜਾ ਤੇ ਸਮਰੱਥੀ ਜਨ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਗੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ, ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੁੱਲੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ, ਹੜ੍ਹ ਪੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਡਾਢੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਹਨੇਰੀ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਲ ਨਾਲ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੱਕ ਪਟਕ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
3 The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trodden under feet.
੩ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਘਮੰਡ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਟ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਮਿੱਧਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
4 And the fading flower the glory of his joy, who is on the head of the fat valley, shall be as a hasty fruit before the ripeness of autumn: which when he that seeth it shall behold, as soon as he taketh it in his hand, he will eat it up.
੪ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਸੁਹੱਪਣ ਦਾ ਕੁਮਲਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਫੁੱਲ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਫਲਦਾਰ ਘਾਟੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ, ਹਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪੱਕੇ ਹੰਜ਼ੀਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਗਲ ਜਾਵੇ।
5 In that day the Lord of hosts shall be a crown of glory, and a garland of joy to the residue of his people:
੫ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੇ ਬਚੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਲਈ ਸੁਹੱਪਣ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਟ, ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ,
6 And a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and strength to them that return out of the battle to the gate.
੬ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਦੀ ਰੂਹ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਫਾਟਕ ਤੋਂ ਲੜਾਈ ਹਟਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਬਲ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
7 But these also have been ignorant through wine, and through drunkenness have erred: the priest and the prophet have been ignorant through drunkenness, they are swallowed up with wine, they have gone astray in drunkenness, they have not known him that seeth, they have been ignorant of judgment.
੭ਇਹ ਵੀ ਮਧ ਨਾਲ ਝੂਲਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਡਗਮਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, - ਜਾਜਕ ਅਤੇ ਨਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਝੂਲਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਧ ਨਾਲ ਮਸਤਾਨੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਡਗਮਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਵੀ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੁੱਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ!
8 For all tables were full of vomit and filth, so that there was no more place.
੮ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੇਜ਼ਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਕੈ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਟੇ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਨਹੀਂ!
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand the hearing? them that are weaned from the milk, that are drawn away from the breasts.
੯ਉਹ ਕਿਸਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਿਖਾਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸਨੂੰ ਪਰਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ? ਕੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਧ ਛੁਡਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਾਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਦੁੱਧੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਲੱਗ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ?
10 For command, command again; command, command again; expect, expect again; expect, expect again: a little there, a little there.
੧੦ਬਿਧ ਤੇ ਬਿਧ, ਬਿਧ ਤੇ ਬਿਧ, ਸੂਤਰ ਤੇ ਸੂਤਰ, ਸੂਤਰ ਤੇ ਸੂਤਰ, ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਐਥੇ, ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਉੱਥੇ!
11 For with the speech of lips, and with another tongue he will speak to this people.
੧੧ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਓਪਰੇ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਨਾਲ ਬੋਲੇਗਾ,
12 To whom he said: This is my rest, refresh the weary, and this is my refreshing: and they would not hear.
੧੨ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਹ ਅਰਾਮ ਹੈ, ਹੁੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਾਮ ਦਿਓ, ਅਤੇ ਚੈਨ ਇਹ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਨਾ ਨਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ।
13 And the word of the Lord shall be to them: Command, command again; command, command again: expect, expect again; expect, expect again: a little there, a little there: that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
੧੩ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਬਿਧ ਤੇ ਬਿਧ, ਬਿਧ ਤੇ ਬਿਧ, ਸੂਤਰ ਤੇ ਸੂਤਰ, ਸੂਤਰ ਤੇ ਸੂਤਰ, ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਐਥੇ, ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਉੱਥੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਪਿਛਾਹਾਂ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਣ, ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਫੜ੍ਹੇ ਜਾਣ।
14 Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, who rule over my people that is in Jerusalem.
੧੪ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਹੇ ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਓ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣੋ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ,
15 For you have said: We have entered into a league with death, and we have made a covenant with hell. When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come upon us: for we have placed our hope in lies, and by falsehood we are protected. (Sheol h7585)
੧੫ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਮੌਤ ਨਾਲ ਨੇਮ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਤਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦਾ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਆ ਝੁੱਲੇਗਾ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਾ ਆਵੇਗਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਝੂਠ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਬਣਾਇਆ, ਅਤੇ ਧੋਖੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ, (Sheol h7585)
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold I will lay a stone in the foundations of Sion, a tried stone, a corner stone, a precious stone, founded in the foundation. He that believeth, let him not hasten.
੧੬ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਮੈਂ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਪੱਥਰ, ਇੱਕ ਪਰਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਪੱਥਰ, ਇੱਕ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਖੂੰਜੇ ਦਾ ਪੱਥਰ ਪੱਕੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਦਾ ਧਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਤੀਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਘਬਰਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਹਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
17 And I will set judgment in weight, and justice in measure: and hail shall overturn the hope of falsehood: and waters shall overflow its protection.
੧੭ਮੈਂ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਤਰ, ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਲ ਬਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਗੜੇ ਝੂਠ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਹੂੰਝ ਲੈ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਅਤੇ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਓਟ ਨੂੰ ਰੋੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
18 And Sour league with death shall be abolished, and your covenant with hell shall not stand: when the overflowing scourge shall pass, you shall be trodden down by it. (Sheol h7585)
੧੮ਤਦ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਮੌਤ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਨੇਮ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਪਤਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਾਇਮ ਨਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ, ਜਦ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦਾ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਆ ਝੁੱਲੇ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਲਤਾੜੇ ਜਾਓਗੇ। (Sheol h7585)
19 Whensoever it shall pass through, it shall take you away: because in the morning early it shall pass through, in the day and in the night, and vexation alone shall make you understand what you hear.
੧੯ਜਦ ਕਦੀ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਲੰਘੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਫੜ੍ਹੇਗਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਦਿਨੇ ਰਾਤੀਂ ਲੰਘੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਨਾ ਨਿਰੀ ਘਬਰਾਹਟ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ!
20 For the bed is straitened, so that one must fall out, and a short covering cannot cover both.
੨੦ਪਲੰਘ ਲੰਮੇ ਪੈਣ ਲਈ ਛੋਟਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਓੜ੍ਹਨਾ ਓੜ੍ਹਨ ਲਈ ਤੰਗ ਹੈ।
21 For the Lord shall stand up as in the mountain of divisions: he shall be angry as in the valley which is in Gabaon: that he may do his work, his strange work: that he may perform his work, his work is strange to him.
੨੧ਜਿਵੇਂ ਫਰਾਸੀਮ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਇਆ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉੱਠ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗਿਬਓਨ ਦੀ ਘਾਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਹ ਕੋਪਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਉਹ ਹੁਣ ਫੇਰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿਖਾਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੰਮ, ਆਪਣਾ ਅਚਰਜ਼ ਕਰੇ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਾਰਜ, ਆਪਣਾ ਅਨੋਖਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰੇ।
22 And now do not mock, lest your bonds be tied strait. For I have heard of the Lord the God of hosts a consumption and a cutting short upon all the earth.
੨੨ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਠੱਠੇ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਕਿਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਪੱਕੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਰਬਾਦੀ ਦਾ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ।
23 Give ear, and hear my voice, hearken, and hear my speech.
੨੩ਕੰਨ ਲਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੋ, ਧਿਆਨ ਲਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣੋ।
24 Shall the ploughman plough all the day to sow, shall he open and harrow his ground?
੨੪ਕੀ ਹਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਬੀਜਣ ਲਈ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ ਵਾਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ? ਕੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਸੁਹਾਗਾ ਫੇਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ?
25 Will he not, when he hath made plain the surface thereof, sow gith, and scatter cummin, and put wheat in order, and barley, and millet, and vetches in their bounds?
੨੫ਜਦ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਧਰਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਕੀ ਉਹ ਸੌਂਫ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਿਲਾਰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜੀਰੇ ਦਾ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਛੱਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ? ਅਤੇ ਕਣਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਆੜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਜੌਂਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਮਸਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਨਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ?
26 For he will instruct him in judgment: his God will teach him.
੨੬ਉਹ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਠੀਕ-ਠੀਕ ਸਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
27 For gith shall not be thrashed with saws, neither shall the cart wheel turn about upon cummin: but gith shall be beaten out with a rod, and cummin with a staff.
੨੭ਸੌਂਫ ਤਾਂ ਗੰਡਾਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਾਹੀਦੀ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਜੀਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੱਡੇ ਦਾ ਪਹੀਆ ਫੇਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸੌਂਫ ਲਾਠੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਰਾ ਡੰਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੁੱਟੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
28 But bread corn shall be broken small: but the thrasher shall not thrash it for ever, neither shall the cart wheel hurt it, nor break it with its teeth.
੨੮ਰੋਟੀ ਦਾ ਅੰਨ ਤਾਂ ਦਰੜੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੱਡੇ ਦਾ ਪਹੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਚਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਰੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਟਦਾ।
29 This also is come forth from the Lord God of hosts, to make his counsel wonderful, and magnify justice.
੨੯ਇਹ ਵੀ ਤਾਂ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਲਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਚਰਜ਼ ਹੈ, ਬੁੱਧੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹਾਨ!
