< Hebrews 11 >

1 Now faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not.
Ǹjẹ́ ìgbàgbọ́ ní ìdánilójú ohun tí o ń retí, ìjẹ́rìí ohun tí a kò rí.
2 For by this the ancients obtained a testimony.
Nítorí nínú rẹ ni àwọn alàgbà àtijọ́ ní ẹ̀rí rere.
3 By faith we understand that the world was framed by the word of God; that from invisible things visible things might be made. (aiōn g165)
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni a mọ̀ pé a ti dá ayé nípa ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run; nítorí náà kì í ṣe ohun tí o hàn ni a fi dá ohun tí a ń ri. (aiōn g165)
4 By faith Abel offered to God a sacrifice exceeding that of Cain, by which he obtained a testimony that he was just, God giving testimony to his gifts; and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ní Abeli rú ẹbọ sí Ọlọ́run tí ó sàn ju ti Kaini lọ, nípa èyí tí a jẹ́rìí rẹ̀ pe olódodo ni, Ọlọ́run sí ń jẹ́rìí ẹ̀bùn rẹ̀, àti nípa rẹ̀ náà, bí o ti jẹ́ pé o ti kú, síbẹ̀ o ń fọhùn.
5 By faith Henoch was translated, that he should not see death; and he was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had testimony that he pleased God.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni a ṣí Enoku ní ipò padà kí o má ṣe rí ikú; a kò sì rí i mọ́, nítorí Ọlọ́run ṣí i ní ipò padà ṣáájú ìṣípò padà rẹ̀, a jẹ́rìí yìí sí i pé o wu Ọlọ́run.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please God. For he that cometh to God, must believe that he is, and is a rewarder to them that seek him.
Ṣùgbọ́n láìsí ìgbàgbọ́ kò ṣe é ṣe láti wù ú; nítorí ẹni tí ó bá ń tọ Ọlọ́run wá kò lè ṣàì gbàgbọ́ pé ó ń bẹ, àti pé òun ní olùṣẹ̀san fún àwọn tí o fi ara balẹ̀ wá a.
7 By faith Noe, having received an answer concerning those things which as yet were not seen, moved with fear, framed the ark for the saving of his house, by the which he condemned the world; and was instituted heir of the justice which is by faith.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni Noa, nígbà ti Ọlọ́run, kìlọ̀ ohun tí a kóò tí ì rí fún un, o bẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run ó sì kan ọkọ̀ fún ìgbàlà ilé rẹ̀, nípa èyí tí ó da ayé lẹ́bi, ó sì di ajogún òdodo tí i ṣe nípa ìgbàgbọ́.
8 By faith he that is called Abraham, obeyed to go out into a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ní Abrahamu, nígbà tí a ti pé e láti jáde lọ sí ibi tí òun yóò gbà fún ilẹ̀ ìní, ó gbọ́, ó sì jáde lọ, láì mọ ibi tí òun ń rè.
9 By faith he abode in the land, dwelling in cottages, with Isaac and Jacob, the co-heirs of the same promise.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ní o ṣe àtìpó ní ilẹ̀ ìlérí, bí ẹni pé ni ilẹ̀ àjèjì, o ń gbé inú àgọ́, pẹ̀lú Isaaki àti Jakọbu, àwọn ajogún ìlérí kan náà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀,
10 For he looked for a city that hath foundations; whose builder and maker is God.
nítorí tí ó ń retí ìlú tí ó ní ìpìlẹ̀; èyí tí Ọlọ́run tẹ̀dó tí ó sì kọ́.
11 By faith also Sara herself, being barren, received strength to conceive seed, even past the time of age; because she believed that he was faithful who had promised,
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni Sara tìkára rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú fi gba agbára láti lóyún, nígbà tí ó kọjá ìgbà rẹ̀, nítorí tí o ka ẹni tí o ṣe ìlérí sí olóòótọ́.
12 For which cause there sprung even from one (and him as good as dead) as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
Nítorí náà ni ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ṣe ti ara ọkùnrin kan jáde, àní ara ẹni tí o dàbí òkú, ọmọ bí ìràwọ̀ ojú ọ̀run lọ́pọ̀lọ́pọ̀, àti bí iyanrìn etí Òkun láìníye.
13 All these died according to faith, not having received the promises, but beholding them afar off, and saluting them, and confessing that they are pilgrims and strangers on the earth.
Gbogbo àwọn wọ̀nyí ni ó kú nínú ìgbàgbọ́, láìrí àwọn ìlérí náà gbà, ṣùgbọ́n tí wọn rí wọn ni òkèrè réré, tí wọ́n sì gbá wọn mú, tí wọ́n sì jẹ́wọ́ pé àlejò àti àjèjì ni àwọn lórí ilẹ̀ ayé.
14 For they that say these things, do signify that they seek a country.
Nítorí pé àwọn tí o ń sọ irú ohun bẹ́ẹ̀ fihàn gbangba pé, wọn ń ṣe àfẹ́rí ìlú kan tí i ṣe tiwọn.
15 And truly if they had been mindful of that from whence they came out, they had doubtless time to return.
Àti nítòótọ́, ìbá ṣe pé wọ́n fi ìlú tiwọn tí jáde wá sí ọkàn, wọn ìbá ti rí ààyè padà.
16 But now they desire a better, that is to say, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.
Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí wọ́n ń fẹ́ ìlú kan tí o dára jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ, èyí yìí ni ti ọ̀run, nítorí náà ojú wọn kò ti Ọlọ́run, pé kí a máa pé òun ni Ọlọ́run wọn; nítorí tí o ti pèsè ìlú kan sílẹ̀ fún wọn.
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered Isaac: and he that had received the promises, offered up his only begotten son;
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni Abrahamu, nígbà tí a dán an wò láti, fi Isaaki rú ẹbọ: àní òun ẹni tí ó rí ìlérí gba múra tan láti fi ọmọ bíbí rẹ kan ṣoṣo rú ẹbọ.
18 (To whom it was said: In Isaac shall thy seed be called.)
Nípa ẹni tí wí pé, “Nínú Isaaki ni a ó ti pe irú-ọmọ rẹ̀.”
19 Accounting that God is able to raise up even from the dead. Whereupon also he received him for a parable.
Ó sì rò ó si pé Ọlọ́run tilẹ̀ lè gbé e dìde kúrò nínú òkú, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, bí a bá sọ ọ́ lọ́nà àpẹẹrẹ, ó gbà á padà.
20 By faith also of things to come, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ní Isaaki súre fún Jakọbu àti Esau ní ti ohun tí ń bọ̀.
21 By faith Jacob dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and adored the top of his rod.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni Jakọbu, nígbà tí o ń ku lọ, ó súre fún àwọn ọmọ Josẹfu ni ọ̀kọ̀ọ̀kan; ó sì sinmi ní ìtẹríba lé orí ọ̀pá rẹ̀.
22 By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the going out of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni Josẹfu, nígbà tí ó ń ku lọ, ó rántí ìjáde lọ àwọn ọmọ Israẹli; ó sì pàṣẹ ní ti àwọn egungun rẹ̀.
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months by his parents; because they saw he was a comely babe, and they feared not the king’s edict.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ní àwọn òbí Mose pa a mọ́ fún oṣù mẹ́ta nígbà tí a bí i, nítorí tiwọn rí i ní arẹwà ọmọ; wọn kò sì bẹ̀rù àṣẹ ọba.
24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, denied himself to be the son of Pharao’s daughter;
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni Mose, nígbà tí o dàgbà, ó kọ̀ ki a máa pé òun ni ọmọ ọmọbìnrin Farao;
25 Rather choosing to be afflicted with the people of God, than to have the pleasure of sin for a time,
o kúkú yàn láti máa ba àwọn ènìyàn Ọlọ́run jìyà, ju jíjẹ fàájì ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ fún ìgbà díẹ̀.
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasure of the Egyptians. For he looked unto the reward.
Ó ka ẹ̀gàn Kristi si ọrọ̀ tí ó pọ̀jù àwọn ìṣúra Ejibiti lọ, nítorí tí ó ń wo èrè náà.
27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the fierceness of the king: for he endured as seeing him that is invisible.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni o kọ Ejibiti sílẹ̀ láìbẹ̀rù ìbínú ọba: nítorí tí o dúró ṣinṣin bí ẹni tí ó n ri ẹni àìrí.
28 By faith he celebrated the pasch, and the shedding of the blood; that he, who destroyed the firstborn, might not touch them.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni ó da àsè ìrékọjá sílẹ̀, àti ìbùwọ́n ẹ̀jẹ̀, kí ẹni tí ń pa àwọn àkọ́bí ọmọ má bá a fi ọwọ́ kan wọn.
29 By faith they passed through the Red Sea, as by dry land: which the Egyptians attempting, were swallowed up.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni wọn la òkun pupa kọjá bi ẹni pé ni ìyàngbẹ ilẹ̀ ni: ti àwọn ara Ejibiti dánwò, tí wọ́n sì ri.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, by the going round them seven days.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni àwọn odi Jeriko wo lulẹ̀, lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí a yí wọn ká ni ọjọ́ méje.
31 By faith Rahab the harlot perished not with the unbelievers, receiving the spies with peace.
Nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni Rahabu panṣágà kò ṣègbé pẹ̀lú àwọn tí kò gbọ́rọ̀ nígbà tí o tẹ́wọ́gbà àwọn àmì ní àlàáfíà.
32 And what shall I yet say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, Barac, Samson, Jephthe, David, Samuel, and the prophets:
Èwo ni èmi o sì tún máa wí sí i? Nítorí pé ìgbà yóò kùnà fún mi láti sọ ti Gideoni, àti Baraki, àti Samsoni, àti Jefta; àti Dafidi, àti Samuẹli, àti ti àwọn wòlíì,
33 Who by faith conquered kingdoms, wrought justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
àwọn ẹni nípasẹ̀ ìgbàgbọ́ tiwọn ṣẹ́gun ilẹ̀ ọba, tí wọn ṣiṣẹ́ òdodo, tiwọn gba ìlérí, tiwọn dí àwọn kìnnìún lénu,
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, recovered strength from weakness, became valiant in battle, put to flight the armies of foreigners:
tí wọ́n pa agbára iná, tí wọ́n bọ́ lọ́wọ́ ojú idà, tí a sọ di alágbára nínú àìlera, tí wọ́n dí akọni nínú ìjà, wọ́n lé ogun àwọn àjèjì sá.
35 Women received their dead raised to life again. But others were racked, not accepting deliverance, that they might find a better resurrection.
Àwọn obìnrin ri òkú wọn gbà nípa àjíǹde: a sì da àwọn ẹlòmíràn lóró, wọ́n kọ̀ láti gba ìdásílẹ̀; kí wọn ba lè rí àjíǹde tí o dára jù gbà.
36 And others had trial of mockeries and stripes, moreover also of bands and prisons.
Àwọn ẹlòmíràn sì rí ìjìyà ẹ̀sín, àti nínà, àti ju bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ, ti ìdè àti ti túbú.
37 They were stoned, they were cut asunder, they were tempted, they were put to death by the sword, they wandered about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being in want, distressed, afflicted:
A sọ wọ́n ni òkúta, a fi ayùn rẹ́ wọn sì méjì, a dán wọn wò a fi idà pa wọn, wọ́n rìn káàkiri nínú awọ àgùntàn àti nínú awọ ewúrẹ́; wọn di aláìní, olùpọ́njú, ẹni tí a ń da lóró;
38 Of whom the world was not worthy; wandering in deserts, in mountains, and in dens, and in caved of the earth.
àwọn ẹni tí ayé ko yẹ fún. Wọ́n ń kiri nínú aṣálẹ̀, àti lórí òkè, àti nínú ihò àti nínú abẹ́ ilẹ̀.
39 And all these being approved by the testimony of faith, received not the promise;
Gbogbo àwọn wọ̀nyí tí a jẹ́rìí rere sí nípa ìgbàgbọ́, wọn kò sì rí ìlérí náà gbà,
40 God providing some better thing for us, that they should not be perfected without us.
nítorí Ọlọ́run ti pèsè ohun tí ó dára jù sílẹ̀ fún wa, pé láìsí wa, kí a má ṣe wọn pé.
