Exodus 13
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
Yavé habló a Moisés:
2 Sanctify unto me every firstborn that openeth the womb among the children of Israel, as well of men as of beasts: for they are all mine.
Conságrame todo primogénito. Todo el que abre matriz entre los hijos de Israel, tanto de los hombres como de los animales, es mío.
3 And Moses said to the people: Remember this day in which you came forth out of Egypt, and out of the house of bondage, for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought you forth out of this place: that you eat no leavened bread.
Moisés dijo al pueblo: Recuerden este día en el cual salieron de Egipto, de la casa de esclavitud, porque la poderosa mano de Yavé los sacó de este lugar. Nada leudado se comerá.
4 This day you go forth in the month of new corn.
Ustedes salen hoy, el mes de Abib.
5 And when the Lord shall have brought thee into the land of the Chanaanite, and the Hethite, and the Amorrhite, and the Hevite, and the Jebusite, which he swore to thy fathers that he would give thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey, thou shalt celebrate this manner of sacred rites in this month.
Sucederá que, cuando Yavé te introduzca en la tierra del cananeo, del heteo, del amorreo, del heveo y del jebuseo, la cual Él juró a tus antepasados que te la daría, tierra de la cual fluye leche y miel, harán esta celebración en este mes.
6 Seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be the solemnity of the Lord.
Durante siete días comerán pan sin levadura, y el séptimo día será una fiesta en honor a Yavé.
7 Unleavened bread shall you eat seven days: there shall not be seen any thing leavened with thee, nor in all thy coasts.
Se comerá pan sin levadura todos los siete días, y nada leudado se verá entre ustedes. Ni se verá alguna levadura en todo tu territorio.
8 And thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying: This is what the Lord did to me when I came forth out of Egypt.
Aquel día se lo explicarás a tu hijo: Esto se hace con motivo de lo que Yavé hizo por mí cuando salí de Egipto.
9 And it shall be as a sign in thy hand, and as a memorial before thy eyes: and that the law of the Lord be always in thy mouth, for with a strong hand the Lord hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
Esto será como una señal en tu mano y como un recordatorio en tu frente, para que la Ley de Yavé esté en tu boca, porque Yavé te sacó de Egipto con mano fuerte.
10 Thou shalt keep this observance at the set time from days to days.
Por tanto de año en año, cumplirás esta ordenanza en su tiempo señalado.
11 And when the Lord shall have brought thee into the land of the Chanaanite, as he swore to thee and thy fathers, and shall give it thee:
Cuando Yavé te introduzca en la tierra de los cananeos y te la dé, como te juró a ti y a sus antepasados,
12 Thou shalt set apart all that openeth the womb for the Lord, and all that is first brought forth of thy cattle: whatsoever thou shalt have of the male sex, thou shalt consecrate to the Lord.
apartarás para Yavé todo lo que abra la matriz. Es decir, de todo primogénito de todo animal que tengas, los machos pertenecen a Yavé,
13 The firstborn of an ass thou shalt change for a sheep: and if thou do not redeem it, thou shalt kill it. And every firstborn of men thou shalt redeem with a price.
excepto todo primogénito de asno, el cual sustituirás con un cordero. Y si no lo sustituyes, lo desnucarás. También redimirás a todo primogénito de hombre entre tus hijos.
14 And when thy son shall ask thee tomorrow, saying: What is this? thou shalt answer him: With a strong hand did the Lord bring us forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Y sucederá que cuando tu hijo te pregunte: ¿Qué es esto? Le dirás: Yavé nos sacó de Egipto con mano fuerte, de la casa de esclavitud.
15 For when Pharao was hardened, and would not let us go, the Lord slew every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of beasts: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the womb of the male sex, and all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.
Sucedió que, al endurecerse Faraón para no dejarnos salir, Yavé mató a todo primogénito en la tierra de Egipto, tanto el primogénito del hombre como el primogénito del animal. Por eso yo sacrifico en honor a Yavé todos los machos que abren la matriz y redimo todo primogénito de mis hijos.
16 And it shall be as a sign in thy hand, and as a thing hung between thy eyes, for a remembrance: because the Lord hath brought us forth out of Egypt by a strong hand.
Te servirá como una señal sobre tu mano y como frontales entre tus ojos, porque Yavé nos sacó de Egipto con mano fuerte.
17 And when Pharao had sent out the people, the Lord led them not by the way of the land of the Philistines which is near: thinking lest perhaps they would repent, if they should see wars arise against them, and would return into Egypt.
Sucedió que cuando Faraón dejó salir al pueblo, ʼElohim no los condujo por el camino de la tierra de los filisteos, aunque estaba cerca, porque ʼElohim dijo: No sea que el pueblo cambie de mente cuando vea guerra y regrese a Egipto.
18 But he led them about by the way of the desert, which is by the Red Sea: and the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.
Por tanto, ʼElohim condujo al pueblo por el camino del desierto hacia el mar Rojo, y los hijos de Israel subieron armados de la tierra de Egipto.
19 And Moses took Joseph’s bones with him: because he had adjured the children of Israel, saying: God shall visit you, carry out my bones from hence with you.
Moisés tomó consigo los huesos de José, pues éste ordenó jurar solemnemente a los hijos de Israel: De cierto ʼElohim los visitará y llevarán mis huesos de aquí con ustedes.
20 And marching from Socoth they encamped in Etham in the utmost coasts of the wilderness.
Luego salieron de Sucot y acamparon en Etam, al borde del desierto.
21 And the Lord went before them to shew the way by day in a pillar of a cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire: that he might be the guide of their journey at both times.
Yavé iba delante de ellos, de día en una columna de nube para guiarlos por el camino, y de noche en una columna de fuego para alumbrarles, a fin de que caminaran de día y de noche.
22 There never failed the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, before the people.
Nunca se apartó de delante del pueblo la columna de nube durante el día, ni la columna de fuego durante la noche.
