Ephesians 2
1 And you, when you were dead in your offences, and sins,
Antigamente, vocês estavam mortos em seus pecados e más ações,
2 Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of this air, of the spirit that now worketh on the children of unbelief: (aiōn g165)
vivendo de acordo com os caminhos do mundo, sob o controle do diabo, cujo espírito está trabalhando naqueles que desobedecem a Deus. (aiōn g165)
3 In which also we all conversed in time past, in the desires of our flesh, fulfilling the will of the flesh and of our thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest:
Todos nós já fomos assim, com nosso comportamento sendo determinado pelos desejos da nossa natureza humana pecadora e do nosso modo maligno de pensar. Como qualquer outra pessoa, por causa dessa natureza, éramos pessoas que deveriam sofrer o castigo de Deus.
4 But God, (who is rich in mercy, ) for his exceeding charity wherewith he loved us,
Mas Deus, em sua grande misericórdia, por causa do imenso amor que sente por nós,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together in Christ, (by whose grace you are saved, )
mesmo enquanto estávamos mortos em nossos pecados, nos fez viver juntamente com Cristo. A fé que vocês têm nele os salvou.
6 And hath raised us up together, and hath made us sit together in the heavenly places, through Christ Jesus.
Ele nos ressuscitou com Cristo e em Cristo Jesus nos acolheu no céu ao seu lado.
7 That he might shew in the ages to come the abundant riches of his grace, in his bounty towards us in Christ Jesus. (aiōn g165)
Assim, Deus demonstrou a grandeza da sua graça, ao nos revelar a sua bondade, por meio de Cristo Jesus, por toda a eternidade que está por vir. (aiōn g165)
8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, for it is the gift of God;
Pois vocês são salvos pela graça, ao crer nele. Isso não vem de vocês; mas é um presente de Deus.
9 Not of works, that no man may glory.
A salvação não tem nada que ver com esforços humanos. Então, não se sintam orgulhosos.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus in good works, which God hath prepared that we should walk in them.
Nós somos o resultado do que Deus faz, criados em Cristo Jesus para fazer o bem, que Deus já planejara para que o fizéssemos.
11 For which cause be mindful that you, being heretofore Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called circumcision in the flesh, made by hands;
Então, vocês que eram “pagãos”, falando em termos humanos, chamados “não circuncidados” por aqueles que são “circuncidados”, que nada mais é do que um procedimento feito por mãos humanas, precisam se lembrar de
12 That you were at that time without Christ, being aliens from the conversation of Israel, and strangers to the testament, having no hope of the promise, and without God in this world.
que já estiveram afastados de Cristo. Vocês foram impedidos, por serem não-judeus, de se tornarem cidadãos de Israel. E também, por isso, não puderam fazer parte do acordo que Deus tinha prometido. Vocês não tinham esperança e viviam no mundo sem Deus.
13 But now in Christ Jesus, you, who some time were afar off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Mas agora, em Cristo Jesus, vocês, que já estiveram muito distantes de Deus, foram trazidos para perto dele por meio do sangue de Cristo.
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and breaking down the middle wall of partition, the enmities in his flesh:
Cristo é a nossa paz. Por meio do seu corpo, ele fez com que os dois povos se tornassem um e destruiu o muro da separação que trazia hostilidade e nos dividia,
15 Making void the law of commandments contained in decrees; that he might make the two in himself into one new man, making peace;
fazendo com que nos libertássemos da lei, com suas exigências e regulamentos. Ele fez isso para que pudesse criar um novo povo unido a ele, a partir dos judeus e dos não-judeus. Foi assim que ele trouxe a paz.
16 And might reconcile both to God in one body by the cross, killing the enmities in himself.
Por meio da sua crucificação, Jesus quis reconciliar completamente os dois povos a Deus. Ele quis que eles se unissem em um só corpo, para destruir a hostilidade que havia entre eles.
17 And coming, he preached peace to you that were afar off, and peace to them that were nigh.
Ele veio e anunciou o evangelho da paz, tanto para aqueles que estavam longe, quanto para aqueles que estavam perto.
18 For by him we have access both in one Spirit to the Father.
E foi por meio dele que todos nós conseguimos chegar ao Pai, pelo mesmo Espírito.
19 Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners; but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and the domestics of God,
Isso significa que vocês não são mais estrangeiros nem visitantes, pois agora se tornaram compatriotas do povo de Deus e todos pertencem à família de Deus.
20 Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone:
Família essa que está se formando a partir dos alicerces que os apóstolos e os profetas construíram, com Cristo Jesus como a pedra fundamental.
21 In whom all the building, being framed together, groweth up into an holy temple in the Lord.
Nele, toda a construção está unida, crescendo para formar um templo sagrado para o Senhor.
22 In whom you also are built together into an habitation of God in the Spirit.
Vocês também estão sendo construídos, unidos a ele, como uma casa onde Deus vive por meio do seu Espírito.
