Deuteronomy 7
1 When the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land, which thou art going in to possess, and shall have destroyed many nations before thee, the Hethite, and the Gergezite, and the Amorrhite, and the Chanaanite, and the Pherezite, and the Hevite, and the Jebusite, seven nations much more numerous than thou art, and stronger than thou:
Când te va aduce DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău în ţara în care intri să o stăpâneşti şi va fi dat afară dinaintea ta multe naţiuni: pe hetiţi şi pe ghirgasiţi şi pe amoriţi şi pe canaaniţi şi pe fereziţi şi pe heviţi şi pe iebusiţi, şapte naţiuni mai mari şi mai tari decât tine;
2 And the Lord thy God shall have delivered them to thee, thou shalt utterly destroy them. Thou shalt make no league with them, nor shew mercy to them:
Şi când le va preda DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău înaintea ta, să le loveşti şi să le nimiceşti în întregime, să nu faci legământ cu ele, nici să nu ai milă de ele,
3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them. Thou shalt not give thy daughter to his son, nor take his daughter for thy son:
Nici să nu te încuscreşti cu ele; să nu dai pe fiica ta fiului său, nici să nu iei pe fiica lui pentru fiul tău.
4 For she will turn away thy son from following me, that he may rather serve strange gods, and the wrath of the Lord will be kindled, and will quickly destroy thee.
Pentru că ele ar întoarce pe fiul tău de la a mă urma, ca să servească altor dumnezei, astfel mânia DOMNULUI se va aprinde împotriva voastră şi te-ar nimici deodată.
5 But thus rather shall you deal with them: Destroy their altars, and break their statues, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven things.
Ci astfel să vă purtaţi cu ei: să le distrugeţi altarele şi să le sfărâmaţi idolii şi să le tăiaţi dumbrăvile şi să le ardeţi cu foc chipurile cioplite.
6 Because thou art a holy people to the Lord thy God. The Lord thy God hath chosen thee, to be his peculiar people of all peoples that are upon the earth.
Pentru că tu eşti un popor sfânt pentru DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău; DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău te-a ales să îi fii un popor special, peste toate popoarele care sunt pe faţa pământului.
7 Not because you surpass all nations in number, is the Lord joined unto you, and hath chosen you, for you are the fewest of any people:
DOMNUL nu şi-a pus dragostea peste voi, nici nu v-a ales, pentru că eraţi mai mulţi la număr decât orice alt popor, pentru că voi aţi fost cel mai mic dintre toate popoarele,
8 But because the Lord hath loved you, and hath kept his oath, which he swore to your fathers: and hath brought you out with a strong hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, out of the hand of Pharao the king of Egypt.
Ci pentru că DOMNUL v-a iubit şi pentru că el voieşte să ţină jurământul pe care l-a jurat părinţilor voştri, de aceea v-a scos DOMNUL cu mână tare şi v-a răscumpărat din casa robilor, din mâna lui Faraon, împăratul Egiptului.
9 And thou shalt know that the Lord thy God, he is a strong and faithful God, keeping his covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments, unto a thousand generations:
Să ştii de aceea că DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău, el este Dumnezeu, Dumnezeul cel credincios, care ţine legământul şi mila până la o mie de generaţii faţă de cei care îl iubesc şi păzesc poruncile lui;
10 And repaying forthwith them that hate him, so as to destroy them, without further delay immediately rendering to them what they deserve.
Şi răsplăteşte în faţă celor care îl urăsc, spre a-i nimici; el nu dă nicio amânare celui care îl urăşte, el îi va răsplăti în faţă.
11 Keep therefore the precepts and ceremonies and judgments, which I command thee this day to do.
Să ţii de aceea poruncile şi statutele şi judecăţile, pe care ţi le poruncesc astăzi, pentru a le împlini.
12 If after thou hast heard these judgments, thou keep and do them, the Lord thy God will also keep his covenant to thee, and the mercy which he swore to thy fathers:
De aceea se va întâmpla, dacă daţi ascultare acestor judecăţi şi le ţineţi şi le împliniţi, că DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău va ţine faţă de tine legământul şi mila pe care le-a jurat părinţilor tăi,
13 And he will love thee and multiply thee, and will bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy vintage, thy oil, and thy herds, and the flocks of thy sheep upon the land, for which he swore to thy fathers that he would give it thee.
Şi te va iubi şi te va binecuvânta şi te va înmulţi, de asemenea, va binecuvânta rodul pântecelui tău şi rodul ţării tale, grânele tale şi vinul tău şi untdelemnul tău, fătul vacii tale şi turmele oilor tale, în ţara pe care a jurat părinţilor tăi că ţi-o va da.
14 Blessed shalt thou be among all people. No one shall be barren among you of either sex, neither of men nor cattle.
Vei fi binecuvântat mult peste toate popoarele, nu va fi printre voi parte bărbătească şi parte femeiască stearpă, nici printre vitele tale.
15 The Lord will take away from thee all sickness: and the grievous infirmities of Egypt, which thou knowest, he will not bring upon thee, but upon thy enemies.
Şi DOMNUL va îndepărta de la tine orice boală şi nu va pune peste tine niciuna dintre bolile rele ale Egiptului, pe care le cunoşti, ci le va pune peste toţi cei care te urăsc.
16 Thou shalt consume all the people, which the Lord thy God will deliver to thee. Thy eye shall not spare them, neither shalt thou serve their gods, lest they be thy ruin.
Şi să nimiceşti toate popoarele pe care ţi le va da DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău; ochiul tău să nu aibă milă de ele, nici să nu serveşti dumnezeilor lor, pentru că aceasta va fi o cursă pentru tine.
17 If thou say in thy heart: These nations are more than I, how shall I be able to destroy them?
Dacă vei spune în inima ta: Aceste naţiuni sunt mai mari decât mine, cum le voi putea alunga?
18 Fear not, but remember what the Lord thy God did to Pharao and to all the Egyptians,
Să nu te temi de ele, ci să îţi aduci bine aminte ce a făcut DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău lui Faraon şi întregului Egipt;
19 The exceeding great plagues, which thy eyes saw, and the signs and wonders, and the strong hand, and the stretched out arm, with which the Lord thy God brought thee out: so will he do to all the people, whom thou fearest.
De ispitirile cele mari pe care ochii tăi le-au văzut şi de miracolele şi minunile şi mâna cea tare şi braţul cel întins, cu care te-a scos DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău; astfel va face DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău tuturor popoarelor de care te temi.
20 Moreover the Lord thy God will send also hornets among them, until he destroy and consume all that have escaped thee, and could hide themselves.
Mai mult, DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău va trimite şi viespea împotriva lor, până vor pieri cei care au rămas şi cei care se ascund dinaintea ta vor fi nimiciţi.
21 Thou shalt not fear them, because the Lord thy God is in the midst of thee, a God mighty and terrible:
Nu te înspăimânta de ei, pentru că DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău este printre voi un Dumnezeu mare şi înfricoşător.
22 He will consume these nations in thy sight by little and little and by degrees. Thou wilt not be able to destroy them altogether: lest perhaps the beasts of the earth should increase upon thee.
Şi DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău va înlătura aceste naţiuni dinaintea ta, încetul cu încetul; nu vei putea să le nimiceşti deodată, ca nu cumva să se înmulţească fiarele câmpului peste tine.
23 But the Lord thy God shall deliver them in thy sight: and shall slay them until they be utterly destroyed.
Dar DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău le va da înaintea ta şi le va nimici cu nimicire mare până vor fi nimicite.
24 And he shall deliver their kings into thy hands, and thou shalt destroy their names from under Heaven: no man shall be able to resist thee, until thou destroy them.
Şi va da pe împăraţii lor în mâna ta şi tu să nimiceşti numele lor de sub cer, nimeni nu va putea sta înaintea ta până îi vei fi nimicit.
25 Their graven things thou shalt burn with fire: thou shalt not covet the silver and gold of which they are made, neither shalt thou take to thee any thing thereof, lest thou offend, because it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.
Să ardeţi în foc chipurile cioplite ale dumnezeilor lor; să nu doreşti aurul şi argintul care este pe ele, nici să nu îl iei la tine, ca nu cumva să fii prins în cursă prin ele, pentru că aceasta este o urâciune înaintea DOMNULUI Dumnezeul tău.
26 Neither shalt thou bring any thing of the idol into thy house, lest thou become an anathema, like it. Thou shalt detest it as dung, and shalt utterly abhor it as uncleanness and filth, because it is an anathema.
Nici să nu aduci o urâciune în casa ta, ca nu cumva să fii şi tu blestemat ca ea, ci să o urăşti cu totul şi să o deteşti cu totul, pentru că este un lucru blestemat.
