Acts 13

1 Now there were in the church which was at Antioch, prophets and doctors, among whom was Barnabas, and Simon who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manahen, who was the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

૧હવે અંત્યોખમાં જે વિશ્વાસી સમુદાય હતો તેમાં કેટલાક પ્રબોધકો તથા ઉપદેશકો હતા, એટલે બાર્નાબાસ તથા શિમયોન જે નિગેર કહેવાતો હતો તે, તથા કુરેનીનો લુકિયસ, તથા હેરોદ રાજાનો દૂધભાઈ મનાહેમ, તથા શાઉલ.

2 And as they were ministering to the Lord, and fasting, the Holy Ghost said to them: Separate me Saul and Barnabas, for the work whereunto I have taken them.

૨તેઓ પ્રભુનું ભજન કરતા તથા ઉપવાસ કરતા હતા, ત્યારે પવિત્ર આત્માએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, જે સેવાકામ કરવા સારુ મેં બાર્નાબાસ તથા શાઉલને બોલાવ્યા છે તે સેવાકામને વાસ્તે તેઓને મારે સારુ અલગ કરો.

3 Then they, fasting and praying, and imposing their hands upon them, sent them away.

૩ત્યારે તેઓએ ઉપવાસ તથા પ્રાર્થના કરીને તથા તેઓ પર હાથ મૂકીને તેઓને વિદાય કર્યા.

4 So they being sent by the Holy Ghost, went to Seleucia: and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

૪એ પ્રમાણે પવિત્ર આત્માનાં મોકલવાથી તેઓ સલૂકિયા ગયા; તેઓ ત્યાંથી વહાણમાં બેસીને સાઈપ્રસમાં ગયા.

5 And when they were come to Salamina, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John also in the ministry.

૫તેઓ સાલામિસ આવ્યા, ત્યારે તેઓએ યહૂદીઓના સભાસ્થાનોમાં ઈશ્વરનું વચન પ્રગટ કર્યું; યોહાન પણ સહાયક તરીકે તેઓની સાથે હતો.

6 And when they had gone through the whole island, as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesu:

૬તેઓ તે ટાપુ ઓળંગીને પાફોસ ગયા, ત્યાં બાર-ઈસુ નામનો એક યહૂદી તેઓને મળ્યો, તે જાદુગર તથા જૂઠો પ્રબોધક હતો.

7 Who was with the proconsul Sergius Paulus, a prudent man. He sending for Barnabas and Saul, desired to hear the word of God.

૭ટાપુનો હાકેમ, સર્જિયસ પાઉલ, જે બુદ્ધિશાળી માણસ હતો, તેની સાથે તે હતો. તે હાકેમે બાર્નાબાસ તથા શાઉલને પોતાની પાસે બોલાવીને ઈશ્વરનું વચન સાંભળવાની ઇચ્છા બતાવી.

8 But Elymas the magician (for so his name is interpreted) withstood them, seeking to turn away the proconsul from the faith.

૮પણ એલિમાસ જાદુગર કેમ કે તેના નામનો અર્થ એ જ છે, તે હાકેમને વિશ્વાસ કરતાં અટકાવવાના ઇરાદા સાથે તેઓની સામો થયો.

9 Then Saul, otherwise Paul, filled with the Holy Ghost, looking upon him,

૯પણ શાઉલે જે પાઉલ પણ કહેવાય છે, પવિત્ર આત્માથી ભરપૂર થઈને તેની સામે એક નજરે જોઈને કહ્યું કે,

10 Said: O full of all guile, and of all deceit, child of the devil, enemy of all justice, thou ceasest not to pervert the right ways of the Lord.

૧૦‘અરે સર્વ કપટ તથા સર્વ કાવતરાંથી ભરપૂર, શેતાનના દીકરા અને સર્વ ન્યાયીપણાના શત્રુ, શું પ્રભુના સીધા માર્ગને વાંકા કરવાનું તું મૂકી દઈશ નહિ?’

11 And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a time. And immediately there fell a mist and darkness upon him, and going about, he sought some one to lead him by the hand.

૧૧હવે, જો, પ્રભુનો હાથ તારી વિરુદ્ધ છે, કેટલીક મુદત સુધી તું અંધ રહેશે, અને તને સૂર્ય દેખાશે નહિ. ત્યારે એકાએક ઘૂમર તથા અંધકાર તેના પર આવી પડ્યાં, અને હાથ પકડીને પોતાને દોરે એવાની તેણે શોધ કરવા માંડી.

12 Then the proconsul, when he had seen what was done, believed, admiring at the doctrine of the Lord.

૧૨અને જે થયું તે હાકેમે જોયું ત્યારે તેણે પ્રભુ વિષેના બોધથી વિસ્મય પામીને વિશ્વાસ કર્યો.

13 Now when Paul and they that were with him had sailed from Paphos, they came to Perge in Pamphylia. And John departing from them, returned to Jerusalem.

૧૩પછી પાઉલ તથા તેના સાથીઓ પાફોસથી વહાણમાં બેસીને પામ્ફૂલિયાના પેર્ગા બંદરમાં આવ્યા, અને યોહાન તેઓને મૂકીને યરુશાલેમ પાછો ચાલ્યો ગયો.

14 But they passing through Perge, came to Antioch in Pisidia: and entering into the synagogue on the sabbath day, they sat down.

૧૪પણ તેઓ પેર્ગાથી આગળ જતા પીસીદિયાના અંત્યોખ આવ્યા; અને વિશ્રામવારે સભાસ્થાનમાં જઈને બેઠા.

15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying: Ye men, brethren, if you have any word of exhortation to make to the people, speak.

૧૫ત્યારે નિયમશાસ્ત્ર તથા પ્રબોધકોના વચનોનું વાંચન પૂરું થયા પછી સભાસ્થાનના અધિકારીઓએ તેઓને કહેવડાવ્યું કે, ભાઈઓ, જો તમારે લોકોને બોધરૂપી કંઈ વાત કહેવી હોય તો કહી સંભળાવો.

16 Then Paul rising up, and with his hand bespeaking silence, said: Ye men of Israel, and you that fear God, give ear.

૧૬ત્યારે પાઉલ ઊભો થઈને અને હાથથી ઇશારો કરીને બોલ્યો કે, ઓ ઇઝરાયલી માણસો તથા તમે ઈશ્વરનું સન્માન જાળવનારાઓ, સાંભળો;

17 The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they were sojourners in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought them out from thence,

૧૭આ ઇઝરાયલી લોકોના ઈશ્વરે આપણા પૂર્વજોને પસંદ કર્યા, અને તેઓ મિસર દેશમાં રહેતા હતા, ત્યારે તેઓને આઝાદ કર્યા, અને તે તેઓને ત્યાંથી પરાક્રમી હાથ વડે કાઢી લાવ્યા.

18 And for the space of forty years endured their manners in the desert.

૧૮ઈશ્વરે ચાળીસ વર્ષ સુધી અરણ્યમાં તેઓની વર્તણૂક સહન કરી.

19 And destroying seven nations in the land of Chanaan, divided their land among them, by lot,

૧૯અને કનાન દેશમાંના સાત રાજ્યોના લોકોનો નાશ કરીને તેમણે તેઓનો દેશ આશરે ચારસો પચાસ વર્ષ સુધી તેઓને વતન તરીકે આપ્યો;

20 As it were, after four hundred and fifty years: and after these things, he gave unto them judges, until Samuel the prophet.

૨૦એ પછી તેમણે શમુએલ પ્રબોધકના સમય સુધી તેઓને ન્યાયાધીશો આપ્યા.

21 And after that they desired a king: and God gave them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, forty years.

૨૧ત્યાર પછી તેઓએ રાજા માગ્યો; ત્યારે ઈશ્વરે ચાળીસ વર્ષ સુધી બિન્યામીનના કુળનો કીશનો દીકરો શાઉલ તેઓને રાજા તરીકે આપ્યો.

22 And when he had removed him, he raised them up David to be king: to whom giving testimony, he said: I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man according to my own heart, who shall do all my wills.

૨૨પછી તેને દૂર કરીને તેમણે દાઉદને તેઓનો રાજા થવા સારુ ઊભો કર્યો, અને તેમણે તેના સંબંધી સાક્ષી આપી કે, ‘મારો મનગમતો એક માણસ, એટલે યિશાઈનો દીકરો દાઉદ, મને મળ્યો છે; તે મારી બધી ઇચ્છા પૂરી કરશે.’

23 Of this man’s seed God according to his promise, hath raised up to Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

૨૩એ માણસના વંશમાંથી ઈશ્વરે વચન પ્રમાણે ઇઝરાયલને સારુ એક ઉદ્ધારકને એટલે ઈસુને ઊભા કર્યા.

24 John first preaching, before his coming, the baptism of penance to all the people of Israel.

૨૪તેમના આવ્યા અગાઉ યોહાને બધા ઇઝરાયલી લોકોને પસ્તાવાનું બાપ્તિસ્મા પ્રગટ કર્યું હતું.

25 And when John was fulfilling his course, he said: I am not he, whom you think me to be: but behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

૨૫યોહાન પોતાની દોડ પૂરી કરી રહેવા આવ્યો હતો એ દરમિયાન તે બોલ્યો કે, ‘હું કોણ છું એ વિષે તમે શું ધારો છો? હું તે નથી. પણ જુઓ, જે મારી પાછળ આવે છે, જેમનાં પગનાં ચંપલની દોરી છોડવાને હું યોગ્ય નથી.’

26 Men, brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you fear God, to you the word of this salvation is sent.

૨૬ભાઈઓ, ઇબ્રાહિમનાં વંશજો તથા ઈશ્વરનું ભય રાખનારા વિદેશીઓ, આપણી પાસે એ ઉદ્ધારની વાત મોકલવામાં આવી છે.

27 For they that inhabited Jerusalem, and the rulers thereof, not knowing him, nor the voices of the prophets, which are read every sabbath, judging him have fulfilled them.

૨૭કેમ કે યરુશાલેમના રહેવાસીઓએ તથા તેઓના અધિકારીઓએ તેમને વિષે તથા પ્રબોધકોની જે વાતો દરેક વિશ્રામવારે વાંચવામાં આવે છે તે વિષે પણ અજ્ઞાન હોવાથી તેમને અપરાધી ઠરાવીને તે ભવિષ્યની વાતો પૂર્ણ કરી.

28 And finding no cause of death in him, they desired of Pilate, that they might kill him.

૨૮મૃત્યુને યોગ્ય શિક્ષા કરાય એવું કંઈ કારણ તેઓને મળ્યું નહિ, તેમ છતાં પણ તેઓએ પિલાતને એવી વિનંતી કરી કે તેમને મારી નંખાવો.

29 And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, taking him down from the tree, they laid him in a sepulchre.

૨૯તેમને વિષે જે લખ્યું હતું તે સઘળું તેઓએ પૂર્ણ કર્યું ત્યારે વધસ્તંભ પરથી તેમને ઉતારીને તેઓએ તેમને કબરમાં મૂક્યા.

30 But God raised him up from the dead the third day:

૩૦પણ ઈશ્વરે તેમને મૃત્યુમાંથી સજીવન કર્યા.

31 Who was seen for many days, by them who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who to this present are his witnesses to the people.

૩૧અને તેમની સાથે ગાલીલથી યરુશાલેમમાં આવેલા માણસોને ઘણાં દિવસ સુધી તે દર્શન આપતા રહ્યા, અને તેઓ હમણાં લોકોની આગળ તેમના સાક્ષી છે.

32 And we declare unto you, that the promise which was made to our fathers,

૩૨અને જે આશાવચનો આપણા પૂર્વજોને આપવામાં આવ્યા હતા તેનો શુભસંદેશ અમે તમારી પાસે લાવ્યા છીએ કે,

33 This same God hath fulfilled to our children, raising up Jesus, as in the second psalm also is written: Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

૩૩ઈસુને મૃત્યુમાંથી સજીવન કરીને ઈશ્વરે આપણાં છોકરાં પ્રત્યે તે વચન પૂર્ણ કર્યું છે, અને તે પ્રમાણે બીજા ગીતમાં પણ લખેલું છે કે, તું મારો દીકરો છે, આજ મેં તને જન્મ આપ્યો છે.

34 And to shew that he raised him up from the dead, not to return now any more to corruption, he said thus: I will give you the holy things of David faithful.

૩૪તેમણે તેમને મરણમાંથી ઉઠાડ્યાં, અને તેમનો દેહ સડો પામશે નહિ, તે વિષે તેમણે એમ કહ્યું છે કે, દાઉદ પરના પવિત્ર તથા નિશ્ચિત આશીર્વાદો હું તમને આપીશ.

35 And therefore, in another place also, he saith: Thou shalt not suffer thy holy one to see corruption.

૩૫એ માટે તેઓ બીજા વચનોમાં પણ કહે છે કે, તમે પોતાના પવિત્રના દેહને સડવા દેશો નહીં.

36 For David, when he had served in his generation, according to the will of God, slept: and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption.

૩૬કેમ કે દાઉદ તો પોતાના જમાનામાં ઈશ્વરની ઇચ્છા પ્રમાણે સેવા કરીને ઊંઘી ગયો, અને તેને પોતાના પૂર્વજોની બાજુમાં દફનાવવામાં આવ્યો, અને તેનો દેહ સડો પામ્યો.

37 But he whom God hath raised from the dead, saw no corruption.

૩૭પણ જેમને ઈશ્વરે મૃત્યુમાંથી સજીવન કર્યા, તેમના દેહને સડો લાગ્યો નહિ.

38 Be it known therefore to you, men, brethren, that through him forgiveness of sins is preached to you: and from all the things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

૩૮એ માટે, ભાઈઓ, તમને માલૂમ થાય કે, એમના દ્વારા પાપોની માફી છે; તે તમને પ્રગટ કરવામાં આવે છે.

39 In him every one that believeth, is justified.

૩૯અને જે બાબતો વિષે મૂસાના નિયમશાસ્ત્રથી તમે ન્યાય કરી શક્યા નહિ, તે સર્વ વિષે દરેક વિશ્વાસ કરનાર તેમના દ્વારા ન્યાયી ઠરે છે.

40 Beware, therefore, lest that come upon you which is spoken in the prophets:

૪૦માટે સાવધાન રહો, રખેને પ્રબોધકોના લેખમાંનું આ વચન તમારા ઉપર આવી પડે કે,

41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which you will not believe, if any man shall tell it you.

૪૧‘ઓ તિરસ્કાર કરનારાઓ, તમે જુઓ, અને આશ્ચર્ય અનુભવો અને નાશ પામો; કેમ કે તમારા દિવસોમાં હું એવું કાર્ય કરવાનો છું કે, તે વિષે કોઈ તમને કહે, તો તમે તે માનશો જ નહિ.’

42 And as they went out, they desired them, that on the next sabbath, they would speak unto them these words.

૪૨અને તેઓ ભક્તિસ્થાનમાંથી બહાર આવતા હતા ત્યારે લોકોએ વિનંતી કરી કે, ‘આવતા વિશ્રામવારે એ વચનો ફરીથી અમને કહી સંભળાવજો’.

43 And when the synagogue was broken up, many of the Jews, and of the strangers who served God, followed Paul and Barnabas: who speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

૪૩સભાનું વિસર્જન થયા પછી યહૂદીઓ તથા નવા યહૂદી થયેલા ભક્તિમય માણસોમાંના ઘણાં પાઉલ તથા બાર્નાબાસની પાછળ ગયા; તેઓએ તેઓની સાથે વાત કરી, અને તેમને સમજાવ્યું કે ઈશ્વરની કૃપામાં ટકી રહેવું.

44 But the next sabbath day, the whole city almost came together, to hear the word of God.

૪૪બીજે વિશ્રામવારે લગભગ આખું શહેર ઈશ્વરનું વચન સાંભળવા ભેગું થયું.

45 And the Jews seeing the multitudes, were filled with envy, and contradicted those things which were said by Paul, blaspheming.

૪૫પણ લોકોની ભીડ જોઈને યહૂદીઓને અદેખાઈ આવી. તેઓએ પાઉલની કહેલી વાતોની વિરુદ્ધ બોલીને તેનું અપમાન કર્યું.

46 Then Paul and Barnabas said boldly: To you it behoved us first to speak the word of God: but because you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold we turn to the Gentiles. (aiōnios g166)

૪૬ત્યારે પાઉલે તથા બાર્નાબાસે હિંમતથી કહ્યું કે, ‘ઈશ્વરનું વચન પ્રથમ તમને કહેવાની જરૂર હતી. પણ તમે તેનો નકાર કરો છો અને અનંતજીવન પામવાને પોતાને અયોગ્ય ઠરાવો છો, માટે, જુઓ, અમે બિનયહૂદીઓ તરફ ફરીએ છીએ. (aiōnios g166)

47 For so the Lord hath commanded us: I have set thee to be the light of the Gentiles; that thou mayest be for salvation unto the utmost part of the earth.

૪૭કેમ કે અમને પ્રભુએ એવો હુકમ આપ્યો છે કે, “મેં તમને બિનયહૂદીઓને સારુ અજવાળા તરીકે ઠરાવ્યાં છે કે તમે પૃથ્વીના અંતભાગ સુધી ઉદ્ધાર સિદ્ધ કરનારા થાઓ.”

48 And the Gentiles hearing it, were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to life everlasting, believed. (aiōnios g166)

૪૮એ સાંભળીને બિનયહૂદીઓએ ખુશ થઈને ઈશ્વરનું વચન મહિમાવાન માન્યું; અને અનંતજીવનને સારુ જેટલાં નિર્માણ કરાયેલા હતા તેટલાંએ વિશ્વાસ કર્યો. (aiōnios g166)

49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout the whole country.

૪૯તે આખા પ્રદેશમાં પ્રભુની વાત ફેલાઈ ગઈ.

50 But the Jews stirred up religious and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas: and cast them out of their coasts.

૫૦પણ યહૂદીઓએ ધાર્મિક તથા કુલીન મહિલાઓને, તથા શહેરના અધિકારીઓને ઉશ્કેરીને પાઉલ તથા બાર્નાબાસને કાઢી મૂક્યા.

51 But they, shaking off the dust of their feet against them, came to Iconium.

૫૧પણ પોતાના પગની ધૂળ તેઓની વિરુદ્ધ ખંખેરીને તેઓ ઈકોનિયા ગયા.

52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Ghost.

૫૨શિષ્યો આનંદથી તથા પવિત્ર આત્માથી ભરપૂર હતા.
