2 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, and Sylvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

パウロとシルワノとテモテから、わたしたちの父なる神と主イエス・キリストとにあるテサロニケ人たちの教会へ。

2 Grace unto you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

父なる神と主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。

3 We are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you towards each other, aboundeth:

兄弟たちよ。わたしたちは、いつもあなたがたのことを神に感謝せずにはおられない。またそうするのが当然である。それは、あなたがたの信仰が大いに成長し、あなたがたひとりびとりの愛が、お互の間に増し加わっているからである。

4 So that we ourselves also glory in you in the churches of God, for your patience and faith, and in all your persecutions and tribulations, which you endure,

そのために、わたしたち自身は、あなたがたがいま受けているあらゆる迫害と患難とのただ中で示している忍耐と信仰とにつき、神の諸教会に対してあなたがたを誇としている。

5 For an example of the just judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which also you suffer.

これは、あなたがたを、神の国にふさわしい者にしようとする神のさばきが正しいことを、証拠だてるものである。その神の国のために、あなたがたも苦しんでいるのである。

6 Seeing it is a just thing with God to repay tribulation to them that trouble you:

すなわち、あなたがたを悩ます者には患難をもって報い、悩まされているあなたがたには、わたしたちと共に、休息をもって報いて下さるのが、神にとって正しいことだからである。

7 And to you who are troubled, rest with us when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven, with the angels of his power:

それは、主イエスが炎の中で力ある天使たちを率いて天から現れる時に実現する。

8 In a flame of fire, giving vengeance to them who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

その時、主は神を認めない者たちや、わたしたちの主イエスの福音に聞き従わない者たちに報復し、

9 Who shall suffer eternal punishment in destruction, from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his power: (aiōnios g166)

そして、彼らは主のみ顔とその力の栄光から退けられて、永遠の滅びに至る刑罰を受けるであろう。 (aiōnios g166)

10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be made wonderful in all them who have believed; because our testimony was believed upon you in that day.

その日に、イエスは下ってこられ、聖徒たちの中であがめられ、すべて信じる者たちの間で驚嘆されるであろうわたしたちのこのあかしは、あなたがたによって信じられているのである。

11 Wherefore also we pray always for you; that our God would make you worthy of his vocation, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness and the work of faith in power;

このためにまた、わたしたちは、わたしたちの神があなたがたを召しにかなう者となし、善に対するあらゆる願いと信仰の働きとを力強く満たして下さるようにと、あなたがたのために絶えず祈っている。

12 That the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

それは、わたしたちの神と主イエス・キリストとの恵みによって、わたしたちの主イエスの御名があなたがたの間であがめられ、あなたがたも主にあって栄光を受けるためである。
