2 Kings 22
1 Josias was eight years old when he began to reign: he reigned one and thirty years in Jerusalem: the name of his mother was Idida, the daughter of Hadaia, of Besecath.
शासन शुरू करते समय योशियाह की उम्र आठ साल थी. उसने येरूशलेम में एकतीस साल शासन किया. उसकी माता का नाम येदिदाह था, वह बोत्सकथ नगर के अदाइयाह की पुत्री थी.
2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the ways of David his father: he turned not aside to the right hand, or to the left.
उसने वह किया, जो याहवेह की दृष्टि में सही था. अपने पूर्वज दावीद के सारी मार्गों का आचरण करता रहा. वह इनसे न तो दाएं मुड़ा और न बाएं.
3 And in the eighteenth year of king Josias, the king sent Saphan the son of Assia, the son of Messulam, the scribe of the temple of the Lord, saying to him:
राजा योशियाह के राज्य के अठारहवें वर्ष में राजा ने मेशुल्लाम के पोते, अज़लियाह के पुत्र शापान को, जो सचिव था, इस आदेश के साथ याहवेह के भवन को भेजा,
4 Go to Helcias the high priest, that the money may be put together which is brought into the temple of the Lord, which the doorkeepers of the temple have gathered of the people.
“महापुरोहित हिलकियाह के पास जाइए कि वह याहवेह के भवन में लाए गए दान की गिनती करें, जो द्वारपालों द्वारा आराधकों से इकट्ठा किया गया है.
5 And let it be given to the workmen by the overseers of the house of the Lord: and lot them distribute it to those that work in the temple of the Lord, to repair the temple:
यह धन याहवेह के भवन के लिए चुने गए अधिकारियों को सौंप दिया जाए, और वे इसे उन्हें देते जाएं जिनकी जवाबदारी याहवेह के भवन की मरम्मत करना है,
6 That is, to carpenters and masons, and to such as mend breaches: and that timber may be bought, and stones out of the quarries, to repair the temple of the Lord.
यानी बढ़ई, तराशनेवालों और राजमिस्त्रियों को, कि वे भवन की मरम्मत के लिए ज़रूरी लकड़ी और तराशी गई चट्टानें ले आएं.
7 But let there be no reckoning made with them of the money which they receive, but let them have it in their power, and in their trust.
इनसे लेनदेन का लेखा न लिया जाए, क्योंकि वे अपने लेनदेन में सच्चे हैं.”
8 And Helcias the high priest said to Saphan the scribe: I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord: and Helcias gave the book to Saphan, and he read it.
महापुरोहित हिलकियाह ने लिपिक शापान को सूचित किया, “याहवेह के भवन में मुझे व्यवस्था की पुस्तक मिली है!” हिलकियाह ने पुस्तक शापान को सौंप दी. शापान ने उसे पढ़ा.
9 And Saphan the scribe came to the king, and brought him word again concerning that which he had commanded, and said: Thy servants have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and they have given it to be distributed to the workmen, by the overseers of the works of the temple of the Lord.
लिपिक शापान ने राजा के पास जाकर उसे इसकी सूचना दी, “भवन में रखी सारी चांदी निकाल ली गई हैं और यह धन उन कर्मचारियों को दे दिया गया है, जिन्हें याहवेह के भवन के देखरेख की जवाबदारी सौंपी गई है.”
10 And Saphan the scribe told the king, saying: Helcias the priest hath delivered to me a book. And when Saphan had read it before the king,
इसके बाद लिपिक शापान ने राजा को यह सूचना भी दी, “पुरोहित हिलकियाह ने मुझे एक पुस्तक दी है.” शापान ने राजा के सामने उस पुस्तक में से पढ़कर सुनाया.
11 And the king had heard the words of the law of the Lord, he rent his garments.
जब राजा ने व्यवस्था की पुस्तक से सुना, उसने अपने वस्त्र फाड़ दिए.
12 And he commanded Helcias the priest, and Ahicam the son of Saphan, and Achobor the son of Micha, and Saphan the scribe, and Asaia the king’s servant, saying:
राजा ने पुरोहित हिलकियाह, शापान के पुत्र अहीकाम, मीकायाह के पुत्र अखबोर, लिपिक शापान और राजा के सेवक असाइयाह को यह आदेश दिया,
13 Go and consult the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Juda, concerning the words of this book which is found: for the great wrath of the Lord is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened to the words of this book, to do all that is written for us.
“इस पुस्तक में हमारे लिए जो लिखा है, उसके विषय में, मेरी ओर से, यहूदिया और प्रजा की ओर से याहवेह की इच्छा मालूम करो, क्योंकि भयंकर है याहवेह का क्रोध, जो हमारे लिए भड़का है; क्योंकि हमारे पूर्वजों ने इस पुस्तक के आदेशों का पालन नहीं किया है. उन्होंने वह सब नहीं किया है, जो इस पुस्तक में हमारे लिए लिखा है.”
14 So Helcias the priest, and Ahicam, and Achobor, and Saphan, and Asaia went to Holda the prophetess the wife of Sellum the son of Thecua, the son of Araas keeper of the wardrobe, who dwelt in Jerusalem in the Second: and they spoke to her.
तब पुरोहित हिलकियाह, अहीकाम, अखबोर, शापान और असाइयाह हुलदाह नामक स्त्री से भेंटकरने गए, जो एक भविष्यद्वक्ता थी, वह वस्त्रों के रखवाले शल्लूम की पत्नी थी, जो तिकवाह का पुत्र, हरहास का पोता था. वह येरूशलेम के मिशनेह क्षेत्र में रहती थी. उन्होंने हुलदाह से सलाह-मशवरा किया.
15 And she said to them: Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: Tell the man that sent you to me:
हुलदा ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “याहवेह, इस्राएल के परमेश्वर का संदेश यह है ‘जिस व्यक्ति ने तुम्हें मुझसे मिलने के लिए भेजा है, उससे यह कहना,
16 Thus saith the Lord: Behold, I will bring evils upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, all the words of the law which the king of Juda hath read:
याहवेह का संदेश यह है, “देख लेना, इस देश और इसके वासियों पर मैं बुराई भेजूंगा; वे सभी बातें, जो यहूदिया के राजा ने पढ़े हैं.
17 Because they have forsaken me, and have sacrificed to strange gods, provoking me by all the works of their hands: therefore my indignation shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
क्योंकि उन्होंने मुझे त्याग दिया है और वे पराए देवताओं के सामने धूप जलाते हैं. वे अपने हाथ से बनाई हुई सारी वस्तुओं के द्वारा मेरे क्रोध को भड़काएं. इसलिये इस स्थान के विरुद्ध मेरा क्रोध भड़का है, और मेरा क्रोध शांत न होगा.”’
18 But to the king of Juda, who sent you to consult the Lord, thus shall you say: Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: Forasmuch as thou hast heard the words of the book,
मगर यहूदिया के राजा, जिसने, तुम्हें मेरे पास भेजा है, कि मैं याहवेह से उनकी इच्छा पता करूं, उससे तुम यह कहना: ‘याहवेह, इस्राएल के परमेश्वर का संदेश यह है: उन बातों के बारे में, जो तुमने सुनी है:
19 And thy heart hath been moved to fear, and thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, hearing the words against this place, and the inhabitants thereof, to wit, that they should become a wonder and a curse: and thou hast rent thy garments, and wept before me, I also have heard thee, saith the Lord:
इसलिये कि तुम्हारा मन दीन है और तुमने खुद को याहवेह के सामने विनम्र बना लिया, जब तुमने मुझे इस जगह और इसके निवासियों के विरुद्ध कहते सुना, कि वे उजड़ जाएंगे, शाप बन जाएंगे, तुमने अपने वस्त्र फाड़े और तुमने मेरे सामने विलाप किया है, विश्वास करो, मैंने तुम्हारी प्रार्थना सुन ली है, यह याहवेह की घोषणा है.
20 Therefore I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy sepulchre in peace, that thy eyes may not see all the evils which I will bring; upon this place.
इसलिये सुनो, मैं तुम्हें तुम्हारे पूर्वजों में मिला दूंगा. शान्तिपूर्ण स्थिति में तुम्हारा अंतिम संस्कार होगा. इस स्थान पर जो बुराई मेरे द्वारा भेजी जाएगी, उसे तुम्हारी आंखें न देखेंगी.’” यह संदेश उन्होंने राजा को जा सुनाया.
