2 Kings 12
1 In the seventh year of Jehu Joas began to reign: and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Sebia of Bersabee.
En el séptimo año de Jehú comenzó a reinar Joas, y reinó cuarenta años en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fue Sebia de Beer-seba.
2 And Joas did that which was right before the Lord all the days that Joiada the priest taught him.
E hizo Joas lo que era recto en ojos de Jehová todo el tiempo que le gobernó el sacerdote Joiada.
3 But yet he took not away the high places: for the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
Con todo eso los altos no se quitaron, que aun el pueblo sacrificaba, y quemaba perfumes en los altos.
4 And Joas said to the priests: O All the money of the sanctified things, which is brought into the temple of the Lord by those that pass, which is offered for the price of a soul, and which of their own accord, and of their own free heart they bring into the temple of the Lord:
Y Joas dijo a los sacerdotes: Todo el dinero de las santificaciones, que se suele traer en la casa de Jehová, el dinero de los que pasan en cuenta, el dinero de las almas, cada uno según su precio, y todo dinero que cada uno mete de su libertad en la casa de Jehová:
5 Let the priests take it according to their order, and repair the house, wheresoever they shall see any thing that wanteth repairing.
Los sacerdotes lo reciban, cada uno de sus familiares, los cuales reparen los portillos del templo, donde quiera que se hallare abertura.
6 Now till the three and twentieth year of king Joas, the priests did not make the repairs of the temple.
El año veinte y tres del rey Joas los sacerdotes no habían aun reparado las aberturas del templo.
7 And king Joas called Joiada the high priest and the priests, saying to them: Why do you not repair the temple? Take you therefore money no more according to your order, but restore it for the repairing of the temple.
Y llamando el rey Joas al pontífice Joiada, y a los sacerdotes, díjoles: ¿Porqué no reparáis las aberturas del templo? Ahora pues no toméis más el dinero de vuestros familiares, sino dádlo para las aberturas del templo.
8 And the priests were forbidden to take any more money of the people, and to make the repairs of the house.
Y los sacerdotes consintieron en no tomar más dinero del pueblo, ni tener cargo de reparar las aberturas del templo.
9 And Joiada the high priest took a chest and bored a hole in the top, and set it by the altar at the right hand of them that came into the house of the Lord, and the priests that kept the doors put therein all the money that was brought to the temple of the Lord.
Entonces el pontífice Joiada tomó un arca, e hízole en la tapa un agujero, y púsola junto al altar, a la mano derecha, a la entrada del templo de Jehová: y los sacerdotes que guardaban la puerta, ponían allí todo el dinero, que se metía en la casa de Jehová.
10 And when they saw that there was very much money in the chest, the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and poured it out, and counted the money that was found in the house of the Lord:
Y cuando veían que había mucho dinero en el arca, venía el notario del rey, y el gran sacerdote, y contaban el dinero que hallaban en el templo de Jehová, y lo guardaban;
11 And they gave it out by number and measure into the hands of them that were over the builders of the house of the Lord: and they laid it out to the carpenters, and the masons that wrought in the house of the Lord,
Y daban el dinero aparejado en la mano de los que hacían la obra, y de los que tenían el cargo de la casa de Jehová, y ellos lo expendían con los carpinteros y maestros, que reparaban la casa de Jehová:
12 And made the repairs: and to them that cut stones, and to buy timber, and stones, to be hewed, that the repairs of the house of the Lord might be completely finished, and wheresoever there was need of expenses to uphold the house.
Y con los albañiles y canteros; para comprar la madera, y piedra de cantería, para reparar las aberturas de la casa de Jehová, y en todo lo que se gastaba en la casa para repararla.
13 But there were not made of the same money for the temple of the Lord, bowls, or fleshhooks, or censers, or trumpets, or any vessel of gold and silver, of the money that was brought into the temple of the Lord.
Mas de aquel dinero que se traía a la casa de Jehová, no se hacían tazas de plata, ni salterios, ni lebrillos, ni trompetas: ni ningún otro vaso de oro, ni de plata, se hacía para el templo de Jehová.
14 For it was given to them that did the work, that the temple of the Lord might be repaired.
Porque lo daban a los que hacían la obra, y con él reparaban la casa de Jehová.
15 And they reckoned not with the men that received the money to distribute it to the workmen, but they bestowed it faithfully.
Ni se tomaba cuenta a los varones en cuyas manos el dinero era entregado, para que ellos lo diesen a los que hacían la obra: porque ellos lo hacían fielmente.
16 But the money for trespass, and the money for sins, they brought not into the temple of the Lord, because it was for the priests.
Mas el dinero por el delito, y el dinero por los pecados, no se metía en la casa de Jehová, porque era de los sacerdotes.
17 Then Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Geth, and took it and set his face to go up to Jerusalem.
Entonces subió Hazael rey de Siria, y peleó contra Get, y la tomó: y puso Hazael su rostro para subir contra Jerusalem.
18 Wherefore Joas king of Juda took all the sanctified things, which Josaphat, and Joram, and Ochozias his fathers the kings of Juda had dedicated to holy uses, and which he himself had offered: and all the silver that could be found in the treasures of the temple of the Lord, and in the king’s palace: and sent it to Hazael king of Syria, and he went off from Jerusalem.
Y tomó Joas rey de Judá todas las ofrendas que había dedicado Josafat, y Joram, y Ocozías, sus padres, reyes de Judá, y las que él había dedicado, y todo el oro, que se halló en los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, y en la casa del rey, y enviólo a Hazael rey de Siria, y él se partió de Jerusalem.
19 And the rest of the acts of Joas, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Juda?
Lo demás de los hechos de Joas, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
20 And his servants arose, and conspired among themselves, and slew Joas in the house of Mello in the descent of Sella.
Y levantáronse sus siervos, y conspiraron en conjuración, e hirieron a Joas en la casa de Mello, descendiendo él a Sella.
21 For Josachar the son of Semaath, and Jozabad the son of Somer his servant struck him, and he died: and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David, and Amasias his son reigned in his stead.
Porque Josacar, hijo de Semaat, y Jozabad, hijo de Somer, sus siervos, le hirieron, y murió, y le sepultaron con sus padres en la ciudad de David, y reinó en su lugar Amasías su hijo.
