2 Chronicles 5
1 Then Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had vowed, the silver, and the gold, and all the vessels he put among the treasures of the house of God.
Salomon donc apporta tout ce qu’avait voué David, son père, l’argent, l’or et tous les vases, et il les mit dans les trésors de la maison de Dieu.
2 And after this he gathered together the ancients of Israel, and all the princes of the tribes, and the heads of the families, of the children of Israel to Jerusalem, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Sion.
Après quoi, il assembla les anciens d’Israël, tous les princes des tribus et les chefs des familles des enfants d’Israël à Jérusalem, pour amener l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur de la cité de David, qui est Sion.
3 And all the men of Israel came to the king in the solemn day of the seventh month.
C’est pourquoi tous les hommes d’Israël vinrent auprès du roi au jour solennel du septième mois.
4 And when all the ancients of Israel were come, the Levites took up the ark,
Et lorsque tous les anciens d’Israël furent venus, les Lévites enlevèrent l’arche,
5 And brought it in, together with all the furniture of the tabernacle. And the priests with the Levites carried the vessels of the sanctuary, which were in the tabernacle.
Et l’apportèrent avec tous les ornements du tabernacle. Mais les vases du sanctuaire, qui étaient dans le tabernacle, ce furent les prêtres qui les portèrent avec les Lévites.
6 And king Solomon and all the assembly of Israel, and all that were gathered together before the ark, sacrificed rams, and oxen without number: so great was the multitude of the victims.
Or le roi Salomon, tout le peuple d’Israël, et tous ceux qui s’assemblèrent devant l’arche, immolaient des béliers et des bœufs sans nombre: tant était grande, en effet, la multitude des victimes.
7 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord into its place, that is, to the oracle of the temple, into the holy of holies under the wings of the cherubims:
Les prêtres portèrent donc l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur en son lieu, c’est-à-dire, dans l’oracle du temple, dans le Saint des saints, sous les ailes des chérubins;
8 So that the cherubims spread their wings over the place, in which the ark was set, and covered the ark itself and its staves.
En sorte que les chérubins étendaient leurs ailes sur le lieu dans lequel l’arche avait été mise, et la couvraient elle-même avec ses leviers.
9 Now the ends of the staves wherewith the ark was carried, because they were some thing longer, were seen before the oracle: but if a man were a little outward, he could not see them. So the ark has been there unto this day.
Quant aux leviers avec lesquels on portait l’arche, parce qu’ils étaient un peu plus longs, leurs têtes paraissaient devant le sanctuaire; mais si quelqu’un était un peu en dehors, il ne pouvait pas les voir. Ainsi l’arche a été là jusqu’au présent jour.
10 And there was nothing else in the ark but the two tables which Moses put there at Horeb when the Lord gave the law to the children of Israel, at their coming out of Egypt.
Il n’y avait rien dans l’arche, si ce n’est les deux tables que Moïse y mit à Horeb, quand le Seigneur donna sa loi aux enfants d’Israël sortant d’Égypte.
11 Now when the priests were come out of the sanctuary, (for all the priests that could be found there, mere sanctified: and as yet at that time the courses and orders of the ministries were not divided among them, )
Or les prêtres étaient sortis du sanctuaire (car tous les prêtres qui purent se trouver là furent sanctifiés; et en ce temps-là les classes et l’ordre des ministères n’avaient pas été encore distribués entre eux),
12 Both the Levites and the singing men, that is, both they that were under Asaph, and they that were under Heman, and they that were under Idithun, with their sons, and their brethren, clothed with fine linen, sounded with cymbals, and psalteries, and harps, standing on the east side of the altar, and with them a hundred and twenty priests, sounding with trumpets.
Tant les Lévites que les chantres, c’est-à-dire ceux qui étaient sous Asaph, sous Héman, sous Idithun, leurs fils et leurs frères, revêtus de fin lin, faisaient retentir des cymbales, des psaltérions et des harpes, se tenant au côté oriental de l’autel; et avec eux cent vingt prêtres sonnaient des trompettes.
13 So when they all sounded together, both with trumpets, and voice, and cymbals, and organs, and with divers kind of musical instruments, and lifted up their voice on high: the sound was heard afar off, so that when they began to praise the Lord, and to say: Give glory to the Lord for he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever: the house of God was filled with a cloud.
Ainsi tous ensemble chantant avec des trompettes, des voix, des cymbales, des orgues et d’autres instruments de divers genres, et élevant la voix dans les airs, un bruit s’entendait au loin, en sorte que, lorsqu’ils eurent commencé à louer le Seigneur, et à dire: Rendez gloire au Seigneur, parce qu’il est bon, parce que sa miséricorde est éternelle, la maison de Dieu fut remplie d’une nuée;
14 Nor could the priests stand and minister by reason of the cloud. For the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.
En sorte que les prêtres ne pouvaient s’y tenir, ni remplir leur ministère à cause de la nuée; car la gloire du Seigneur avait rempli la maison de Dieu.
