2 Chronicles 17
1 And Josaphat his son reigned in his stead, and grew strong against Israel.
Su hijo Josafat reinó en su lugar y se fortaleció contra Israel.
2 And he placed numbers of soldiers in all the fortified cities of Juda. And he put garrisons in the land of Juda, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
Destacó tropas en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y colocó guarniciones en la tierra de Judá y en las ciudades de Efraín que su padre Asa capturó.
3 And the Lord was with Josaphat, because he walked in the first ways of David his father: and trusted not in Baalim,
Yavé estuvo con Josafat, porque anduvo en los procedimientos de su antepasado David. No acudió a los baales,
4 But in the God of his father, and walk in his commandments, and not according to the sins of Israel.
sino acudió al ʼElohim de su padre. Anduvo en sus Mandamientos y no según las obras de Israel.
5 And the Lord established the kingdom in his hand, and all Juda brought presents to Josaphat: and he acquired immense riches, and much glory.
Yavé confirmó el reino en su mano. Todo Judá dio presentes a Josafat, y tuvo riqueza y honores en abundancia.
6 And when his heart had taken courage for the ways of the Lord, he took away also the high places and the groves out of Juda.
Su corazón se animó en los caminos de Yavé, y quitó de Judá los lugares altos y las Aseras.
7 And in the third year of his reign, he sent of his princes Benhail, and Abdias, and Zacharias, and Nathanael, and Micheas, to teach in the cities of Juda:
En el tercer año de su reinado, [el rey Josafat] envió a sus magistrados Ben-hail, Abdías, Zacarías, Natanael y Micaías, a enseñar en las ciudades de Judá.
8 And with them the Levites, Semeias, and Nathanias, and Zabadias, and Asael, and Semiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonias, and Tobias, and Thobadonias Levites, and with them Elisama, and Joram priests.
Envió con ellos a los levitas Semaías, Netanías, Zebadías, Asael, Semiramot, Jonatán, Adonías, Tobías, Tobadonías y a los sacerdotes Elisama y Joram.
9 And they taught the people in Juda, having with them the book of the law of the Lord: and they went about all the cities of Juda, and instructed the people.
Ellos enseñaron en Judá y llevaban consigo el Rollo de la Ley de Yavé. Recorrieron todas las ciudades de Judá y enseñaban al pueblo.
10 And the fear of the Lord came upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Juda, and they durst not make war against Josaphat.
El pavor de Yavé cayó sobre todos los reinos de las tierras que estaban alrededor de Judá, y no hicieron guerra contra Josafat.
11 The Philistines also brought presents to Josaphat, and tribute in silver, and the Arabians brought him cattle, seven thousand seven hundred rams, and as many he goats.
Algunos de los filisteos llevaban a Josafat presentes y plata como tributo. También los árabes le llevaron rebaños: 7.700 carneros y 7.700 machos cabríos.
12 And Josaphat grew, and became exceeding great: and he built in Juda houses like towers, and walled cities.
Josafat llegó a ser muy grande. Edificó en Judá fortalezas y ciudades de almacenamiento.
13 And he prepared many works in the cities of Juda: and he had warriors, and valiant men in Jerusalem.
Además tuvo muchas provisiones en las ciudades de Judá, y hombres de guerra muy valientes en Jerusalén.
14 Of whom this is the number of the houses and families of every one: in Juda captains of the army, Ednas the chief, and with him three hundred thousand most valiant men.
Éste era el número de ellos, según sus casas paternas: de los comandantes de millares de Judá, el jefe era Adnas, con 300.000 guerreros valientes;
15 After him Johanan the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand.
le seguía el jefe Johanán, con 280.000;
16 And after him was Amasias the son of Zechri, consecrated to the Lord, and with him were two hundred thousand valiant men.
luego Amasías, hijo de Zicri, quien se ofreció voluntariamente a Yavé, con 200.000 hombres valientes;
17 After him was Eliada valiant in battle, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield.
de Benjamín, Eliada, hombre muy valiente, y con él 200.000 que llevaban arco y escudo;
18 After him also was Jozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready for war.
y a continuación, Jozabad, con 180.000 hombres equipados para la guerra.
19 All these were at the hand of the king, beside others, whom he had put in the walled cities, in all Juda.
Éstos eran los que servían al rey, aparte de los que el rey destacó en las ciudades fortificadas por todo Judá.
