2 Chronicles 15
1 And the spirit of God came upon Azarias the son of Oded,
Thần của Đức Chúa Trời cảm thúc A-xa-ria, con trai Ô-đết,
2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him: Hear ye me, Asa, and all Juda and Benjamin: The Lord is with you, because you have been with him. If you seek him, you shall find: but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.
đi nghênh đón Vua A-sa và tâu trình: “Xin vua cùng toàn thể người Giu-đa và Bên-gia-min hãy nghe lời tôi! Vua và toàn dân theo Chúa Hằng Hữu đến mức nào thì Chúa phù hộ vua và toàn dân đến mức nấy! Nếu vua và toàn dân tìm kiếm Chúa, tất sẽ gặp Ngài. Nhưng nếu vua và toàn dân lìa bỏ Chúa, tất bị Chúa lìa bỏ.
3 And many days shall pass in Israel without the true God, and without a priest a teacher, and without the law.
Đã từ lâu, Ít-ra-ên vắng bóng Đức Chúa Trời, không có thầy tế lễ giáo huấn, cũng chẳng có luật pháp hướng dẫn!
4 And when in their distress they shall return to the Lord the God of Israel, and shall seek him, they shall find him.
Tuy nhiên, trong cơn khốn khổ, toàn dân quay về cùng Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, tìm kiếm Chúa nên được gặp Ngài.
5 At that time there shall be no peace to him that goeth out and cometh in, but terrors on every side among all the inhabitants of the earth.
Trong thời gian đen tối này, toàn dân loạn lạc, đất nước nhiễu nhương.
6 For nation shall fight against nation, and city against city, for the Lord will trouble them with all distress.
Nước này giày đạp nước kia, thành này áp bức thành nọ, vì Đức Chúa Trời khiến họ bị tai họa và loạn lạc.
7 Do you therefore take courage, and let not your hands he weakened: for there shall be a reward for your work.
Tuy nhiên, xin vua và toàn dân hãy vững lòng, đừng sợ hãi, vì công việc mình sẽ được ban thưởng!”
8 And when Asa had heard the words, and the prophecy of Azarias the son of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and took away the idols out of all the land of Juda, and out of Benjamin, and out of the cities of mount Ephraim, which he had taken, and he dedicated the altar of the Lord, which was before the porch of the Lord.
Khi A-sa nghe lời khích lệ của Tiên tri A-xa-ria, con trai Ô-đết, ông vô cùng phấn khởi, liền dẹp bỏ tất cả thần tượng ghê tởm khắp đất nước Giu-đa và Bên-gia-min cũng như khắp các thành miền núi Ép-ra-im mà vua đã chiếm đóng. Vua sửa lại bàn thờ của Chúa Hằng Hữu trước hiên cửa Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu.
9 And he gathered together all Juda and Benjamin, and the strangers with them of Ephraim, and Manasses, and Simeon: for many were come over to him out of Israel, seeing that the Lord his God was with him.
A-sa ra lệnh triệu tập toàn dân Giu-đa và Bên-gia-min, các kiều dân người Ép-ra-im, Ma-na-se, và Si-mê-ôn. Vì nhiều người Ít-ra-ên đến Giu-đa trong thời A-sa trị vì khi thấy rõ Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của vua, phù hộ vua.
10 And when they were come to Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa,
Tháng ba năm thứ mười lăm triều đại A-sa, toàn dân tập họp tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.
11 They sacrificed to the Lord in that day of the spoils, and of the prey, that they had brought, seven hundred oxen, and seven thousand rams.
Lúc ấy, họ dâng 700 bò đực và 7.000 chiên trong số chiến lợi phẩm làm tế lễ lên Chúa Hằng Hữu.
12 And he went in to confirm as usual the covenant, that they should seek the Lord the God of their fathers with all their heart, and with all their soul.
Toàn dân kết ước hết lòng, hết linh hồn tìm kiếm Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ mình.
13 And if any one, said he, seek not the Lord the God of Israel, let him die, whether little or great, man or woman.
Họ quyết nghị xử tử người nào không tìm kiếm Ngài, dù nhỏ hay lớn, nam hay nữ.
14 And they swore to the Lord with a loud voice with joyful shouting, and with sound of trumpet, and sound of comets,
Họ mạnh mẽ thề nguyện với Chúa Hằng Hữu, rồi reo mừng, thổi kèn và còi vang dậy.
15 All that mere in Juda with a curse: for with all their heart they swore, and with all their will they sought him, and they found him, and the Lord gave them rest round about.
Toàn dân trong Giu-đa đều hoan hỉ vì họ hết lòng thề nguyện. Họ mong muốn tìm kiếm Đức Chúa Trời, và họ tìm được Ngài. Chúa Hằng Hữu cho đất nước họ hưởng thái bình, các nước lân bang không quấy phá họ nữa.
16 Moreover Maacha the mother of king Asa he deposed from the royal authority, because she had made in a grove an idol of Priapus: and he entirely destroyed it, and breaking it into pieces, burnt it at the torrent Cedron.
Khi Vua A-sa phát giác việc bà nội mình là Ma-a-ca lập tượng thần A-sê-ra, ông cách chức thái hậu của bà. Ông chặt ngã thần tượng, đập cho bể nát, rồi đem đốt đi bên Thung lũng Kít-rôn.
17 But high places were left in Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.
Tuy các nơi thờ tà thần vẫn chưa bị phá bỏ khỏi Ít-ra-ên, nhưng Vua A-sa vẫn giữ lòng trung thành với Chúa suốt đời.
18 And the things which his father had vowed, and he himself had vowed, he brought into the house of the Lord, gold and silver, and vessels of divers uses.
Vua đem vào Đền Thờ Đức Chúa Trời các bảo vật mà vua và cha vua đã biệt ra thánh gồm vàng, bạc và các khí dụng.
19 And there was no war unto the five and thirtieth year of the kingdom of Asa.
Vậy không có chiến tranh cho đến năm thứ ba mươi lăm triều Vua A-sa.
